We Turned Her Into A Disney Lovin', Character Huggin', Thrill Ridin' Girl! COMPLETED 7/11 - Page 19 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Oh, no! So sorry you and Jamie both got sick. Not a very nice memory of your first trip to Boma. Hope it passes quickly so you can enjoy your last day.

Oh no! That stinks both you and Jamie got sick. Hoping Jamie makes it to the CM ADR in the morning.
So glad it was food poisoning though, instead of a stomach virus, I agree! No need for hospital visits...period, but especially on vacation.

Not a good way to end your night at all, I'm sorry you and Jamie both got sick What was it that you both ate? Glad the kids didn't have it too! Hope you are both feeling better in the morning so that you can enjoy the day at MK!
I was definitely not the way we wanted to end the night. I was trying to remember what all we ate but the only thing I can remember that we both ate was the salad and fruit and dessert. We both had the exact same salads and fruits and we shared the desserts. I can't remember what we had in between but we were both starting to feel bad while we were eating the salad and fruit. I know I did not eat much after that. I don't think Jamie did either.

I know that wasn't fun spending your time in DHS in all the bathrooms.

Sorry you got sick at Crystal Palace! I know that was no fun for you being sick in MK. I at least got to go back to our room.

Thanks for letting me know you have read my older TR. It was very therapeutic for me
About the tipping and stuffed animals...We did not know about tipping for the first trip and never saw anything interesting in our room. We knew all about tipping the second time and made our special envelopes and hope for towel animals. Many days, the mousekeeer did not take the envelopes. We always had the animals arranged, but nothing particularly special or memorable. I do not think we got a towel-animal-talent fairy....
I will try to do better. I have a real hard time finding a place to stop. I get so carried away with excitement while I am writing it. It helps me to not miss being there so much.
Your welcome! I am enjoying your PTR now and am very much looking forward to reading your TR after the trip!
I don't think our mousekeeper knew how to do very many towel animals either because we only got the one elephant. They did arrange all the plushes though after the tip issue was resolved.

Thanks! It was certainly not an experience that makes us want to go back to Boma any time soon. I'm sure we will try it again one day though.

Thanks Cam! We were so looking forward to this restaurant. Hopefully we will be up for trying it again at some point in the future but probably not our next trip. You never know though. We were so excited to see the animals so close! I just wish I would have thought to get a picture of Asher sitting there looking at the giraffes he loves so much. He was loving it.

I was so glad that no one else got sick! That would pretty much put an end to our trip if Selah had gotten sick.

You are going to stay at AKL this year!?! That's awesome! I will be looking forward to reading all about it! It was really a beautiful resort.
Just got to catch up....it has been so crazy at work each day I would start reading and then had to stop midway but I am finally on track now.
I loved the pictures of Selah watching Illuminations....what a wonderful reaction.
Definitely the little thrill demon at AK, glad everyone enjoyed Dinosaur and that Selah has so much fun on EE. Great animal shots of both the safari and at AK.
So sorry you and Jamie got sick from dinner....not a fun way to finish off the day. Hoping you both woke up feeling tons better so you could enjoy Chef Mickey nad your last day at the MK.
My kids love Dinosaur! I think it may have changed a little though since the last time I rode it because I remember the part where they take your picture it seems like the dinosaur used to be closer. I know I was always covering my head in every ride picture and this time it was far away. Either they changed that part a little or I was a much bigger chicken last time.
I actually thought the exact same thing after our ride in December! Back in 2009, I rode with Jacob, DH and my dad. We were in the front row and I was in the seat closest to the dinosaur. Even though I know it's coming, that thing always scares the bejeebers out of me and our ride photo is hysterical because I'm cringing in fear, Jacob is next to me hiding his face, and DH is feigning surprise and my dad is laughing at all of us!
In December, DH was closest to the dinosaur in the front row, and we both thought it seemed like it moved slower -- like maybe it didn't jump out at you as fast?? Anyway, glad to know it's not just us!

So I was justified in being scared in 2009? I haven't ridden it since. Maybe I'll have to give it another try. Probably not until my kids beg me to. Gotta wait until somebody will get something out of it. And if that's the kids getting a good laugh at their mama that's fine by me.

I know all about crazy weeks!
Thanks! I was really excited that I got that picture of her.
I was so excited that she was loving all the rides! It was really fun experiencing those rides with both of the kids.
Getting sick was definitely not the highlight of the trip. Hope to get the next installment up in the next day or so.

I'm glad I am not crazy! When we rode it that first time this last trip, I thought, "I must have been a really big chicken and since have become brave because that was not scary at all!" Then I thought about it some more and decided I have not become more brave, , that dinosaur was farther away. I know I'm a chicken and I'm ok with that. I remember that last time I went on it was with my sister-in-law and the guys were waiting with the kids. They were going to ride after us. We were in the front row and I was on the end closest to the dino. When we got to that part we both screamed. I covered my head with my arms. Jennifer (sister-in-law) put her hands up in front of her face and then we were both laughing hysterically at ourselves. When we got off the ride the guys and kids were looking at the ride photos laughing at us and proceeded to tease us relentlessly about how scared we were. Then they (Jamie and my brother Kevin) went on the ride and screamed like little girls. At least thats how we interpreted it from their ride photo and what we like to tell people. We have always loved that ride though. Even when it did scare us into hysterics. I kind of wish they hadn't changed it but it was probably a good thing because I am sure Asher would not have liked it the other way.
