Come sail away, Come sail away, Come sail away with me TR Completed 2/8/2012 - Page 19 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So sorry you had a stressful first dinner. How rude of that couple! I think that some people that don't have children just don't get it. My kids are older now, so when I see a child acting out I try not to look that way because I know what the parents (especially the moms) must be going through.
It looks like Josie had some great character interaction! And pool time looked like lots of fun!
Great character interaction. And Josie sure does know her Aladdin! She must have been thinking you grown ups were the crazy ones for not believing she saw him! The pool and slides looked like a blast too. Glad you had a good time.
All caught up! Sorry the first day on the ship wasn't all that great, but it appears day 2 is off to a good start! Dylan loved the slide at AKL, but it was the same thing there. He only takes to much and then he starts telling other kids what the rules are.
Great pictures and despite the rude people it seems like you are starting to settle in and enjoy. I would have felt the same way but come on, early dinner seating, disney cruise, what do you expect!!!! You can be a wonderful hands on parents and stress good behavior but you just never know what is going to happen especially with an infant that can't tell you what they want! Can't wait to hear how you like the nursery and the kids club. The room looks great for a family of 4. Oh and I will tell you that when we stayed at the Beach Club this past April, we were in the villas but we did spend time around the whole resort, we didn't notice loud or rowdy behavior, it seemed relaxing and peaceful no matter what time you were out. So maybe it did have something to do with it being a weekend during food and wine festival. I know that alot of people have commented on other threads that Fridays and Saturdays at Food and Wine are crowded and loud with alot of drunk people. Each night we walked back to our room, it was nothing but families walking on the beach or watching the movies. Can't wait to read more!

Josie looks so cute with all of the princesses! We have tickle fests with Hope all the time too, especially in the mornings. The sound of giggles just seems to brighten your day up a bit more.
Great pictures, and what a fun way to start the morning!! Room service and tickle fest? Love it!
Yes, much better start this day for sure

When you mentioned the rocking I just made my decision to NEVER go on a Disney cruise. I am so sea sick prone and that would just kill me if I had to spend another cruise in my stateroom. Thank you for letting me know that big boat still rocks!
You know how it is, you can say whatever you want about your own family, but when others do......BACK UP!
Really the ship rocking was bad, but it wouldn't stop me from doing another. When it was really rocking, I just had to be out in the open somewhere or in bed laying down to go to bed. It just made me feel hungover with a headache, I know how to handle that

Yeah, I think she told her to stand that way, they talked forever.

And glad Josie got to see Rapunzel, that will be a main event for us too. (And way cool on the Aladdin sighting/meeeting... what Magic!)
looking forward to reading on...
Thank you, much better day and the princesses were adorable.

I always look the other way too, at times I catch myself staring at the kids though, I always am wondering if they are going through the same issues as Josie and I just wish I could see inside their little heads.

That's so funny, our friends little girl is always reminding us of what the rules are and we love it!! Keeps Josie in check too. Dylan did the slide at the pool at AKL? I took Josie over to the one at BC and she said No thanks! Brave little Dylan!!

I figured it had something to do with it being Sat and F&WF. It's all good. I was one of those people once too

I do feel bad about the tickle fest sometimes, I despise being tickled and I wonder if they do too. But I can't help it, those laughs are priceless
After some splashing around in the pool and Nemo’s reef it was time to get some food, so off to Cabana’s we went. Everything was quick and delish in there and after we finished up I took Josie to change into some play clothes and head down for our first time in the Oceaneers Club. We chatted about the procedures of dropping them off with a CM, washed our hands in the groovy sinks they have for the kids and went in with Josie to look around. Uhmm……….where did my kid just go??? Girlfriend was off! Can’t say I blame her, this place was insane! We looked around a bit and I have to say, I wanted to stay in there too. I didn’t stay long, I didn’t want to feel like a stalker, but just wanted to get a good lay of things. I did take Josie and showed her where the potty’s were so she knew, and then just like that we left our little girl, alone, on a boat, with strangers…….my heart was breaking a little. A.) Because she didn’t seem to care I was leaving and B.) Because I was leaving her. So off we went.
We noticed that our little guy had fallen asleep in the stroller so we took the time to stroll around and grab a dirty banana from Currents. After our little drink date I went off for my spa service.
The treatment was a 75 min massage with a milk bath rub or something after. It was all very nice and the spa was beautiful. My spa chicky asked if anything was bothering me. I told her I had a headache since we pretty much started moving on the ship and other than that my feet were tired. DUH….from all the traveling and such it was kinda a no brainer. So she focused a lot on my scalp and feet and at the end it was all very nice. However……….I swear, this happens to me on every ship I have been on, after the service I get the whole spiel. “We have this seaweed packet you can take home to massage on your cellulite, and this blah blah blah bath can help with your poor circulation and the swelling of your feet. This is a 10 day treatment that will only cost you about $957 measly dollars!!!!” I’m good, thank you, but me , my cellulite and my nasty swollen feet will just see ya later, but thank you for making my nice, Zen state of mind get shot to you know where!!!! Back up to the room I go.
We grab Josie from the club and I started to spaz when I couldn’t find her. I looked everywhere for her. I, like a looney, fly up to the desk flipping out about where the heck my kid is. The CM very calmly asked what her name was and then punched it into a computer. Ah yes, Josie…..she is over in the lab! WHAT??? They knew exactly her location because of the wrist band she had on and it never occurred to me that she could just freely roam over there because she was potty trained. OK, sigh of relief and then I do the little so sorry routine for being a psycho and out we go.
Showered, dressed for dinner and off to drop off my little man now down at the nursery. This was even harder than Josie. I had him fed and packed his jammies with a bottle. I told them he would take that about 6:30pm and then he might just pass out after. They were loving on him so much and even my sweet boy didn’t seem to care we were leaving. Do these kids like me or not? I really am starting to wonder. So we leave and my eyes are all filled up until Josie gets this look on her and says “But what about Andre, is he coming??” I snap out of my funk and tell her, no babe, it’s just you me and daddy tonight for dinner. She asked if they would take good care of him and I assured her they would. Heart melting.
Off to the Enchanted Garden we go. This place was beautiful. I think the prettiest restaurant on the ship. We find our table and SHOCKER!!! Guess who is right next to us?? YUP. Mean unhappy couple. Boy didn’t they light up when they didn’t see my sweet boy. Our servers were shocked that I didn’t bring him, but I said tonight is all about our gal Josie and we just wanted a relaxing dinner. So with that, they brought me some wine!! I’m horrible about writing notes on what we ate, but I do know we liked it and dinner really was quite enjoyable. We talked with Josie a lot and even Arnaud and I had some good conversation while she was shoving carrots dipped in ketchup in her mouth. I chose to ignore that and just sip my wine and talk to my handsome man across the table from me. This night I got to see the applesauce extravaganza they brought out for my girl, and she was in heaven!!!
After dinner we went back to grab my other handsome man and the ladies were so sad to see him go. They said they played with him for a little bit, dressed him in his jammies, fed him his bottle and he went out like a light and never woke again. They handed my sleeping nugget back to me and he slept the whole way back to our room. They put a sticker name tag on their backs which is really adorable. I placed him in his cribby, got my other man dialed in with room service for a Mickey Bar then headed off to see the Villains show with my gal.
We could only find one seat in the theatre. And that was fine, Josie wanted to sit on my lap anyway. The show got started and I have to say right off the bat I wasn’t overly impressed. I think maybe because we are not familiar with those Hercules characters, but still, I do like watching live shows, so we kept on watching. Halfway through, Josie turned to me and asked if we could go to bed. I said sure babe, just close your eyes. She said no, she wanted to go back to the room. Well Ok my sweet, we can do that. So we left and went back to snuggle with Daddy. We got her all tucked in and then not soon after. I was out like a light too.
What great photos of your little threesome at dinner!
When I booked my one and only spa treatment on the Wonder I told them at that time that I just wanted the treatment, would not be interested in products. I guess the word got to my treatment person because there was no spiel at all.

Glad you had a good evening. Sorry it was hard to leave the kids, but it looks like they had a blast. And I too would have panicked if I showed up to pick up my child and couldn't find them. They probably get that a lot. It's nice that they can track the kids and still give them a little freedom though!
I would have had a hard time leaving my daughter too, but I tell ya, those kids clubs are AMAZING!!! No wonder the kids don't mind saying good-bye to their parents. As for the spa spiel...that is the one thing that always makes me hesitant about booking a treatment. It's like, you've gotten enough of my money what more do you want? I learned to just tell them right from the start that I'm only there to enjoy the treatment and I don't plan on buying any products afterwards. Usually works like a charm.
I had a feeling you were going to be seated next to Mr. & Mrs. Grumpy because they usually try to keep the same dining layout at each restaurant...lucky you! It's sad really that they were happy because you weren't enjoying your dinner with both of your children, but I'm glad you had a relaxing meal all the same.
Just catching up and I am so sorry about the rude couple. LIke I would really like to shake them and say excuse me...you are on a Disney cruise, at teh early dinner seating and the child is not crying or screaming, he is just laughing in excitement so if you don't like it go to your quiet room and order room service
I so can understand why you went upstairs I would have been the same way...but I don't understand how anyone could be bothered (and since they were the only ones that were bothered) by a adorable little boy who was just communicating in his own way.
Love the pictures of Josie and the Princesses, the one with Pinochio was adorable but the love fest with Aladdin....just priceless. Love how they spend so much time talking to the them and giving them one on one.
Glad both kids enjoyed the kids clubs...sorry rude couple was there again at dinner, I would have smiled and said...Oh how nice to see you again, then turned to DH and said....guess Andre was right about not wanting to come to dinner becuase of the company ...lol
Love the pictures from dinner....and Josie sure is enjoying her applesauce.
