Let The Memories Begin - Our Beach Club Adventures Feb 2011 - Page 19 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

First, I have to comment on your bus experience from WL to BC. Same thing happened to us last June. We were staying at WL. I had the bright idea of trying to eat lunch at Beaches and Cream. We took the bus to DTD and then another bus to BC. Of course we had to wait, and wait, and wait at DTD. After going through you list as mentioned of resorts, we finally made it to BC. We walked to B&C and the wait was about 30 min. It was after 12pm and we were starving. We decided not to wait. We then took the boat to DHS. That was the LONGEST commute (getting from WL to DHS) lol. Wont make that mistake again!
Love your shirt and the pic of y'all infront of the eiffel tower! Great trip so far! Sorry for your tummy bug and Boma meal!!! Your crepe for dessert looks divine! I think I'd like to eat there for dessert alone!
We did Living with the Land for the first time on our last trip. I loved it! Can't believe I hadn't done it before. Spaceship Earth was closed on our last trip, so we're looking forward to the "new & improved" version on our next trip.
Love Soarin'! So does hubby and he's not big on heights. But we did exactly what you did, ride, go get FP, eat, ride again. Perfect start to any day at Epcot!
I couldn't believe we were able to ride so many times that day. We weren't so lucky when we went back on Friday as the wait times were ridiculous!!

We really took our time this trip and actually looked through most of the countries. WS is so beautiful, and everything is just so authentic looking & true to the culture of each country. Hope you get the time to enjoy it as much as we did.

I'm not huge on breakfast, just give me a good bun anyday!

What a great trip so far! I'm glad you guys still made your ADR at CP that first night. Dinner with the characters was a great way to start your trip! And I'm glad you made it back to MK for a little solo venture. All of your meals have sounded yummy so far I'm another one who always looks for long sleeve shirts and you're right - they are hard to come by! I think I'll start checking out the resort gift shops too. Great tip. Great day at Epcot so far!!! Looking forward to hearing about your yummy meal in France!
The resort gift shops had the best selection of LS shirts. Does anyone know anywhere else to find them?

I was pretty sure too about it being Wishes, but I couldn't quite figure out my directions at WDW!!

The weather was so up & down (mostly down ) this trip. But you know that even in WDW you can make the most of it!
I had the exact same meal as you had at Chefs last time I was there (lobster bisque and short ribs). I had the lemon tart for dessert - did you?

I am so upset as I see a lot of people have spotted Belle with the Beast. I have seen Belle but not with the Beast. That is my new goal this next trip!
More please! (Oh and I LOVE your shirt in the pictures I hope they have it when I go)
I ordered my shirt (and 2 more) from disneystore online. They were 2 for $24. This one is my fav!!!

I do love France. Studied French in high school and I am part French. I have also been to France and would go back in a heartbeat. On our last Disney trip, I bought a little tiny bag (probably meant to hold a tube of lipstick) which I use everyday because it holds my MP3 player. I love it and it always reminds me of Disney and France. So I think it's decided, I must add Chefs to our restaurant list.
I know you would love Chefs, especially considering you are part French & have been to France. It was wonderful!!!
What a great time in the World Showcase!!
And I love your t-shirt!
I love that shirt too! I wore it today & it brought back so many great memories!!

Maybe on our 2012 trip I'll book a lunch ressie so we can meet the delightful Chef Remy. (That's a favorite Disney movie of mine...in fact, I may go pop it in the DVD player...)
The short ribs were melt in your mouth good!! Remy just added to an already great dining experience!!

I think it was just across from Chefs- near the fenced part overlooking the lagoon. I also noticed them as we took the boat over from Morrocco to Mexico. So maybe just in between France and Morrocco. I took pictures of them as we left on the boat that I'll post. I also took a picture of the time board-I'll post that too.

The commutes are ridiculous!!! Previously, we stayed at CSR & CBR and had wonderful experiences with transportion. The deluxe resorts def need to work on that issue!!

We loved taking the boat across the lagoon, sure does save you on some of that walking! I took a few pictures along the way.
We sat outside in the back of the boat. I thought this picture was so cute! We were pretty cuddled up on that ride!
Once we were back in FW, we thought we'd check out
the standby wait was -:-
no minute wait!
We love this ride!!! as soon as we got off, we walked right back on. Of course, not before Peter could check this out
On our way back over to the Land, we stopped to get a strawberry smoothie at one of the little stands in front of Ellen's Energy. Neither of us were interested in EE, so we just sat on one of the benches and enjoyed our drink. I got some really good pictures of the monorail-including the Tron one.
I woke up this morning with a scratchy throat and by now it was really sore. I was feeling a bit yucky, but the cold drink helped.
Finally, we started walking again and ended up in front of Club Cool.
Peter was lagging behind finishing up my smoothie, so I went inside ahead of him. I tried to find a spot where I could get him to try the Beverly without him seeing anyone else's reaction first.
When he came in I handed him a cup of it, but this guy next to us was making the ugliest face you've ever seen and telling Peter not to try it. I was like....really, it's not that bad, just try it. Nope, not having any of that! My plan was foiled.
We rode Soarin'....row 1 again.....what a day!! We grabbed a FP but wouldn't end up using it. 4 times on Soarin' and 2 rides on TT. Not bad!! We decided to turn in our locker key and get our sweatshirts. I wasn't feeling all that great and Peter suggested we go back to BC for awhile.
The boat at Mexico was just about to pull out, so we jumped on. I took a few more pictures from the boat.
Once back in Morocco, we heard Mo'Rockin, but by the time we got over there they were just finishing up. I guess I can say I heard them.....but only for a couple of minutes. Need to put that back on my to-do list!!
Finally caught a better look at Marie as we walked through France to get to the IG.
It was such a beautiful evening. I wish I hadn't been feeling so bad, it would have been the perfect night to enjoy the beach.

We were getting hungry, and talked about going down to B&C, but decided to just get pizza from Marketplace and eat on the balcony.
2 flatbread pepp pizzas, 2 chips, and 2 sodas= $26.57 or 2 CS credits
It was such a beautiful night on the balcony. This had been the warmest day of our trip so far (except for arrival day). After we finished our pizza, I took some cold meds and laid down. I ended up sleeping until Peter woke me up around 8:40 pm. He wanted to know if I felt like walking back to Epcot to watch Illuminations. I wasn't feeling all that great, but pushed myself to go back and watch. We found a great spot next to Rose & Crown. What an awesome view!!! Such a beautiful show! Beautiful night!
When we got back to the room, I made myself some hot tea which seemed to help a bit. I took a long, hot bath, took more meds, and fell asleep somewhere around midnight.
Catching back up on your recent updates! Great times at AK and Epcot! Wonderful meals! We loved Les Chef de France, too! So sorry you were starting to feel ill. Awesome to ride Soarin' 4 times in one day!
What a great time at Epcot, the weather was perfect on Wendesday, it made it so much harder for me to leave that afternoon
You definitely scored on the Soarin trips this day, sorry that your throat and not feeling well put a slight damper on the day, glad you were able at least feel better to enjoy Illuminations a bit. Hope you feel better tomorrow.
