A Dream That Came True! The First Timers TR - COMPLETED 9/10 - Page 19 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Glad you had a great time at MK! What a wonderful and kind gesture that Scottie offered that little boy a pin. I'm sorry there were so many rude people, but glad that the kindness of a stranger allowed you to enjoy the parade. The year that my mom and I went to the Christmas party, I noticed how many rude people there were too. People were pushing and shoving right after Wishes to get a spot for the second parade, but there was literally no where to go! So much for the Christmas spirit!

Today was our Animal Kingdom day and I had made a later breakfast ressie hoping that I could take Scottie on the first Kilimanjaro Safari! We get to AK in plenty of time to see the park opening which is really cute, but nothing compared to MK's opening lol. We head straight back to the Safari and get straight on. The Safari was so cool, and we saw alot of animals. The CM was so funny and had us all laughing the whole time. After the Safari, we grab a bus to AKL and Boma for breakfast. The tree in the lobby was huge!
This was without a doubt the best meal ever! The food was delicious!
The juice was different but really good. I loved that they had african type breakfast foods, it was a good way for us to experience other cultures. While eating, we chatted with a couple at the table next to us who were very friendly.
After breakfast, we head back to AK to meet up with fellow PP disney4us2. After a quick shot of the AK tree and gift shop, we head to Dinosaur to meet up.
We all jump on Dinosaur and it was awesome! It was definitely loud and bumpy but well worth it lol. Next up, I took the kids on Primeval Whirl, which we loved. We grabbed a couple of frozen cokes and headed to Everest to grab Fast Passes. While waiting on our Fast Passes, we decide to grab a bite at Flame Tree BBQ. I wasn't hungry but Scottie as usual was lol so he got a fruit plate, which was huge!
By this time, I'm really feeling the pain in my feet. The moleskin and crocs just weren't helping! But I was determined to make this trip everything I could, so I grit my teeth and kept on. Perfect time for a growl!
We headed back to Everest to ride! This is one awesome roller coaster!! I especially loved going backwards.
We split up after the ride, Marci wanted to go down the Maharajah Trek, while we were in search of the elusive Baby Simba picture which we had heard might be found in the Africa area.
After several photo ops, we finally found it!!!
Too cute! I am really hurting and we're both tired so we decide to head on to the resort for a nap. Of course on the way, Scottie decides he has to try on hats lol.
As we headed for the buses, we happened to run into the same couple we had met that morning at Boma. They asked Scottie how he had enjoyed AK and gave him a new pin for his lanyard! They had bought it just that day and decided to give it to him because "he was just so adorable". Scottie was amazed, as was I.
What a great time you all had at MVMCP, especially meeting characters! Thank goodness for the kind lady who gave you all a spot to watch the parade, too. Breakfast at Boma looks very ! Lots of fun at AK!
At the resort, I change out my moleskin and socks, the blisters are really bad now. Worried about getting through the next two days, but determined to make it a wonderful trip for Scottie. We were going to meet with Marci and her daughter and head to MK for EMH. The funny thing is, they were staying at CBR as well, but we didn't realize until then that they were literally right below us lol! So, we all head for the buses to catch the next one to MK. This was the only time that we had a hard time finding a bus, it just seemed there weren't any heading to MK? So, we make a last minute decision to go to Epcot instead, which was the next bus!
Marci said we just had to ride Test Track, so we head straight there.
It was incredible! I am so glad we went to Epcot. After the ride we are all hungry and so head to Sunshine Seasons for dinner. Again, I have to say thank you to Marci for suggesting Epcot, I LOVED Sunshine Seasons! The food was delicious! Scottie had roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and chocolate cake,
while I had the pork rib with a Creme Brulee (my favorite ever dessert!).
After this, it is almost time for the park to close and my feet are killing me, so we head back to the resort instead of MK for EMH.
We had so much fun at the MVMCP! I am so glad we went at this time of year as it our favorite season.

It really did shock me how many people were so rude, and it was only during the parade time! But we learned a lesson, a kind CM was chatting to us during a lull in the parade and said that people don't realize the parade goes all the way up Main Street and that it is never crowded in that area and you get more interaction with parade characters too!

Thank you so much! I really missed these boards lol. Since we closed the store down, mom is doing much better! They've even lowered her pain medication. Thank you for asking!! And yes, we had a blast!

Thanks Cam! It was a fantastic time and I am so grateful to that kind lady, isn't it amazing how one kind deed can change your whole day? Boma is a definite keeper for us, in fact we'd like to stay at AKL someday, it was beautiful.

Welcome back, so glad to see you have upated. Loved your evening at the MK, sorry for the rude people during the parade, but so glad you had a little magic from that nice woman and that it saved the evening. Love all the character shots...what a great time with Abu and the Genie.
Great day at AK, glad you were able to get the Simba shot and your breakfast at Boma looked delicious. I think the break for a nap was a great idea as it looks like you had tons of fun over at Epcot and a great PP meet. Dinner looked delicious.

Scottie still says seeing Genie and Abu was his favorite part of the trip! Boma was fantastic and so was Sunshine Seasons, we loved both!

I think we definitely would have liked to have more time at Epcot, I didn't think Scottie would enjoy it as well but he really had a great time there. Oh well, something to change for next time right? lol
My plan for this day was to try to get to HS for opening so that Scottie could try one last time to do the Jedi Training. I set the wake up call the night before, but somehow the phone didn't hang up completely! So, we didn't wake until 10am!! We decided to head on out to Epcot as this was to be our day there. We grab a quick pastry from Old Port Royale and head to the buses. My feet are really sore and I'm quite worried about making it through this day.
We loved the photo ops at Epcot!
Scottie got to see Stitch and Daisy Duck!
We head straight to Soarin for FP's and jump on Livin with the Land. Even Scottie found that ride to be so interesting and fun. We sign Scottie up for Kim Possible and discover he is to pick up his communicator in Norway. We head towards the World Showcase...
I realize we have a problem as we need to head the other way for our lunch ressie at Les Chefs de France? With my feet in the shape they are in, there is no way I can run around this place trying to catch everything in time....and then it happens.... The Mommy Break Down......I just broke, started crying because I felt like I was letting Scottie down. I explained that there was no way I could make it back and forth like that and Scottie tells me to sit down and he will run to get his kimmunicator while I rest. I wait nervously in Canada while he runs to Norway, I tend to be a bit overprotective even though he is 12. I watched for him, thinking the whole time what a horrid mother I am, worried about him getting lost in such a large place. He came right back smiling and said "see mom, I'm not a baby anymore" LOL.
