We're going to WDW! Adventures of a Mom & Toddler Trip, PTR - Page 19 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Becki - I am so glad everything worked out with your mom. I just got caught up with your PTR and I felt so bad becuase I know you wanted this to be special for you and your son and follow the plans you set, and at the same time your mom was pushing changes on you that you did not want to make and you were feeling pulled. I think it is great that you were able to talk to her so you can have some special time with her, and also just some mom and son time as well and not have to give up the extra 1 1/2 at Disney.
PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
Thank you everyone. My mom is a wonderful woman, so I am glad she an I were able to talk a solution that worked for both o us. I do feel bad we don't see her often, and it just felt like with 2 days at Disney we'd be there and leave just as soon as we got there. I am glad she wasn't upset with me, but at least I asked, and no waterworks. I did promise my mom we can have our each day the day before we leave. Something about the beach just feels relaxing to me. I did tell her I had done my research and mapped out all the attractions the 3 of us could enjoy together, not leaving her to be left with Skyler so I can ride the thrill rides(those are all for another trip ). I told her that we can see the shows, go on rides with sitting, take a
couple hours at the resort each day for a break, and if she is too tired for EMHs at DHS our first night, I won't be upset if she wants to call it an early night. I do feel better asking her now about it instead of when we're at Disney.
I know Skyler is only going to be 3 once and this may be the only trip we'll be on where Playhouse Disney Attractions and Meal are age appropriate for him. He may be 5-6 by the time we get to return.

Sorry everyone I was getting sidetracked quite a few
times while replying. A bother quick update Skyler's backpack arrived a little while ago. Luckily as I was answeing the door, the FedEx guy left it inside the screen door. It was exactly as I ordered it, Sky Blue with Skyler's innitials in the Child's Play font in Navy Blue. It even fits him perfectly. It isn't very big, but big enough for Skyler.
We are now waiting for Skyler's stroller rain
cover to arrive.
Since I had our trip PIF and had to add back on one night and 2 more days of
tickets back to Disney, we are skipping our day at Hershey Park. I'm sure the
Imagination Movers will be back on tour and near us again and Hershey Park is
close by anyway, we can go pretty much whenever we want. I am going to
use that money to help us get the rest of Disney payed off again. Also when our friend Courtney and her DH Paul come out here next month, we're going to find some fun for all around DC, MD, & VA for a day or two, and skip Busch Gardens.
Glad everything worked out, but sorry about the drama with your mom for a while there. That would have driven me nuts! Sounds like you're making good decisions.
We are planning on doing MNSSHP on the 28th too!!! I hope to buy our tix this weekend or next the latest. I hope they don't sell out!!!
So, what day do you arrive and what day do you leave? I'm a bit confused with the changes you've had to make. BTW, sorry you are enduring so much extra stress about the trip!!
We arrive on the 25th and just today I'm saying already "I can't wait to go already!!" LOL....
xo

Thanks everyone. Sorry for all of the confusion, we now
arrive at Disney Monday, Sept. 27th and leave Thursday, Sept. 30th(from
MCO).
Lori, I hope they still have MNSSHP tix for the 28th! That would be soo fun if we got to "bump into" you at MNSSHP! I am using that lightely, as it would be awesome to meet up with you in the Disney Bubble!
Thanks everyone for your encouraging words on getting things sorted out wih my mom. She was making me feel stressed out a tad bit and I can handle changes, but when it comes to vacations I plan, since this is a first for me, it does bring me down a little when I know all the fun I could be having for 1 1/2 more days in Disney. Honestly visiting those other places by mom could easily happen during another visit, but Disney will only happen probably every so often for us.
Lori, I hear you I can't wait to go either. Actually my BFF Courtney called me a little bit ago and is going to Disney in August and thought 2 days wasn't enough for us. She even seemed happy we were staying a tad bit longer.
Erick did actually tell me last night that he may think of taking another "Disney" trip in 2012 for my 30th Birthday, but it will only be the 3 of us(we are contemplating DLR or a Land & Sea trip for WDW & The Bahamas). That we need to do some savings for. At least I know the idea
isn't out.
I just wanted to wish all of my fellow Mom Passporters readingalong(even if your a mom to a pet, you count too in my book) a very Happy Mother's Day! I have no clue what Skyler & I are doing Sunday to celebrate(but I do know we will be bringing DMil lunch at work Sunday as she's working from Erick, Skyler, & I) and Erick is probably working. I do however wish I were in Florida spending Mother's Day with My Mom (and sister too since she's a
mom) and my mom's Birthday. I know we have DFil's Big Birthday to celebrate On the 16th(believe it or not my mom & DFil are only 2 years and a
day apart, crazy).

Our MNSSHP tickets came yesterday. The mail wasn't picked up until after Erick got home from his other job and the first thing he asks me is "When were you planning to tell me that you signed up for a new credit card? Something came for you and it feels like 3 credit cards." I opened it up and it was our MNSSHP tickets. Of course I was having a fun time figuring out which design (we got Mickey, Minnie, & Pluto sent to us on the Celebrate Everyday cards) was Skyler's(after 20 minutes of figuring it out, he gets Mickey).
I think Sunday while Erick is at work and delivering lunch to DMil, we might spend Sunday back at rhe mall and buy mom a Birthday & Belated Mother's Day she can use on the trip. We're also going to get her a Vera Bradley Zip ID Pouch and Lanyard and a All-in-One Wristlet for her Necesaary items. She can choose which he wants to carry withher, however I am going to have her MNSSHP Ticket already in one of them, and mibe & Skyler's in my Zip ID Pouch.
We're also going to put all of our loose change cashed in and put onto a Disney Gift Card Skyler got as a gift so we can bring that with for spending money at Disney.
