Me, Muffin, Katie, Megan, the Adlers and Various Resorts!, - Page 19 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

That was a crazy day with the safe problem and Adrienne's experience at the pool. Glad she was ok and you got your items from the safe. Breakfast looked very good and quite a fun experience. Glad you enjoyed the MK and got a lot in.

It seems to be a trend today in society that no one wants to admit when he or she makes a mistake. Very frustrating! Crazy about the room safe! Great morning at MK. I do love the Jingle Cruise overlay.
Great pictures from the trail and safari, my favourite is the meerkats, they are so cute. I really enjoyed ROL, it was a well done show, and it is so enjoyable to walk around the park at night.
Sorry you had issues with the safe, but glad that Disney was so helpful.
Thank you! I love AK at night!! The safe was a pain but it all worked out okay!!

Ugh, what a nightmare with the safe - I hope that all works out.

That is sad but true, Cam. While a distraction, at least we got the safe problem resolved and except for Adrienne panicking at the pool, the rest of the day was awesome!!
Abracadabar, the Flying Fish Cafe and a surrey ride from H-E-double toothpicks!!
Day 11. November 13th. Part 2.
We had plenty of time before dinner tonight, so we went to Abracadabar first, which was right next door anyway! We love this bar and couldn’t wait to introduce the Adlers to it!! For those that don’t know, Abracadabar is supposed to be a magicians bar!! It was where the magicians came after shows and it’s full of neat touches and props. We had awesome CM’s as always here!! We couldn’t find four seats at the bar but easily found a table in the lounge tonight.
Our server, Maria, also had a trainee with her who was lovely. We all ordered drinks; Adrienne and I ordered Conjuritas and Muffin and Dave each got bourbons. Everything was delicious and Maria even gave me the recipe for a Conjurita. I made some on Thanksgiving and they were a humongous hit!! Maria then gave Adrienne a tour of the bar, which she loved!!
Best margarita ever!!!!
Then we headed next door to the Flying Fish Cafe. We have yet to have a disappointing meal here and this time was no exception!!!
Kurobuta Pork Belly
Shank Croquette, Royal Gala Apple Slaw, Bing Cherry Gastique, Shirred Quail Egg:
I got Wild Alaskan Halibut with Harvest Vegetable Mélange, Potato Beurre Blanc:
Dave got Wood-fired Spanish Octopus, Cobia, and Key West Pink Shrimp with Bomba Arroz, Peruvian Sweet Peppers, House-made Chorizo:
Adrienne got Õra King New Zealand Salmon with Antebellum White Grits, Zucchini, Cilantro-Cumin Sauce:
Muffin got Hokkaido Scallop Nero Pasta with Savory Tomato Sauce, Artichokes, Braised Fennel but he ate most of it before I could snap a picture!
This has truly become one of our must do restaurants and the Adlers loved it as well!! When the bill came, our waiter said to me, “ I understand that you did not have a very magical time this morning, so the appetizers are on us.”
We were in shock because we had already gotten a refund for the Beverage seminar that we missed and thought that that was pretty nice of the Boardwalk to do!! We honestly didn’t miss that much time today because of the safe being drilled. We thanked him profusely and settled our bill and then took a walk on the Boardwalk:
When we got upstairs, Adrienne called us over to her room to see this:
It was sent compliments of the Boardwalk and we are guessing it was from the pool incident earlier in the day! We all enjoyed the delicious chocolates and then went downstairs for a nightcap at the Belle Vue Lounge. We sat outside and enjoyed our drinks while people watching and it was a wonderful way to end the evening!!
Except!! Adrienne and I had the bright idea to rent a surrey!! Muffin said no way and went to bed but Dave made the fateful decision to join us! I’m not sure if we are just old and decrepit or we got a reject surrey or we just didn’t work it properly but it was a nightmare!!
I got stuck steering and Adrienne was the bell ringer while Dave sat in the back. We just could not get the darned thing up the hills properly and we fought the whole way around because Adrienne kept thinking I was going to run into people who were nowhere near us! Then I kept telling her she wasn’t peddling! She kept turning her steering wheel and I told her it’s a good thing it didn’t work because she was psycho with it! Then she kept ringing the bell!
Poor Dave had to sit in the back and listen to us and then we made him get out and push us over the bridge where the Swan and Dolphin are!! I’m sure he wished he had been smart like Muffin and begged off!!
We rented the Surrey for 30 minutes but we only made it around Crescent Lake once and that was more than enough!! We couldn’t wait to get out!! Adrienne told me that maybe next time she should drive and I told her there was no way I was ever riding a surrey with her again!! Dave told us we sounded like Lucy and Ethel and then we all fell out laughing!!
We hung out on the Boardwalk a little longer as it was such a nice night and then happily went upstairs!!
Oh how I wish I’d been a witness to the surrey escapade! And poor Dave!
Your safe incident is one of my recurring nightmares. I always lock and then unlock the thing maybe a dozen times before I put anything inside! Glad they were able to fix it, and nice to have some pixie dust after a few of your less than magical experiences. But none of them seemed to dampen your enthusiasm!
Nice of the Boardwalk to comp the appetizers. Your surrey ride sounds like a hoot.
It was more than nice and not necessary!! Oh, the Surrey ride was something allright!!

Oh my, the second I read you were taking a Surrey bike rental, I figured it might end badly. We always look at them and say
It was so magical to us to receive all of that. We asked for nothing. Well, i wish I had spoken to you prior to riding that darned thing!!
A great time on the Boardwalk. The Abracadabar looks amazing as do your drinks! Great meal at Flying Fish with great service and cuisine from all your choices. Glad you got to enjoy the Bellevue Lounge as one of my top three lounges in WDW! The surrey experience is well... Not an ideal one. Those hills around the Swan/Dolphin are quite step as I know from my many walks back their from Epcot and the Boardwalk each day I was there back in October.
