Fall, Firsts, Food And The Final Frontier-WDW PTR - UPDATED 10/9 - Page 18 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Glad you got most of your Fastpass choices and yes, I hear you about Frozen Ever After. I managed to get a Fastpass for it, only for it to be down, and it was the day we were leaving, so we never did it.
Glad you mostly got the FPs you wanted! Looks like the timing worked out well

Thanks. Not much more than an hour between all of them except my F&W Fest days, which I had to do!

I'm quite happy about what I got for these and I hear you about FEA as that's been quite common with the attraction!

Thanks Mike. I'm hoping to experience 7DMT at opening so I can experience it for the first time!

Did not know that as I thought all the bus stops from the MK were just to the resorts! (with exception to the new DS bus). Just to clarify as I'll be going to AK park and not resort.

Glad you were able to book the dessert party and make time for the Star Wars Fireworks!!
Great fast pass choices!
That wasn't easy to fit in to my itinerary, but so glad I was able to do so! I have no complaints over my FP+ choices!

Final ADRs, Another Change and What a Big Surprise!
Friday, September 23rd One ADR I was looking forward to was the completely revamped Flying Fish with a new look, executive chef and new menu. I also want to spend more time at the Food & Wine Festival for the first time as I’ll only have two days there. I would like to sample as many varied food offerings and beverages as I can. Not too crazy on the latter, but more on the food. Unfortunately, this would mean I would have to cancel my ADR for Flying Fish, which I didn’t want to do. Anyway, I wound up canceling it and will have to wait for my next WDW trip, which I hope will be next year and most likely a return to the Food & Wine Festival!
Saturday, October 1st I received an email from Disney Springs and another offer they have for the seven hotels in this area. It’s even better than the deal I got. Unfortunately, the B Resort (where I’m staying) is completely booked for most of these days. The days that are available, they don’t have any king bedrooms available, which I want. I probably would have saved another $15-$20 per day. There is availability the week before, but a little too late to change my vacation from work, flights plus all the work I’ve done with reservations etc. It would be too much of a headache.
Friday, October 7th Glad I didn’t change my plans with Hurricane Matthew, even though WDW wasn’t affected that much by the storm, except for being closed all of today and the inconvenience to the guests being basically confined to their rooms for the most part.
Thursday, October 13th I began the day by going to my doctor for a physical, which I did not want to make for today as I’ll be departing for Walt Disney World in two days. I made the appointment a few months ago and I wanted it for August, but he was all booked and it’s more difficult when blood work is involved. So I caved in and made it for today. All went well and my doctor doesn’t foresee any problems. But you do have to wait for the results of the blood work. I told him not to give me the results of the blood work after I get back from Florida!
I also went to the cleaners to pick up my cargo shorts, which had a big ink stain on one of the pockets from an exploding pen! They got most of it out, but there’s still a little of it left. It’s at the bottom of the pocket, which won’t be noticeable. They said to bring them back another time, so they can be more aggressive in removing the stain for good. There will be no charge for this. In general, I’m happy with the results.
Once, I got home I began my packing and setting up my camera for my trip. I just packed everything that isn’t clothing which always takes the most time. I will do the rest tomorrow and a few last minute items for Saturday, which I can’t pack yet as I need them still. I’m glad I got this done and just my clothes left to pack which won’t take much time.
During the afternoon, I went on the Disney web site and have a look at a possible ADR, I’ve been trying to get quite feverishly. It’s for the California Grill Brunch on Sunday, September 16th. I’ve checked quite regularly and all that has been available were after 11:30 am. That is too late as I’ll be spending the first half of my day in the MK and then to the AK after that. I don’t want to miss too much park time, so I was hoping for an earlier ADR around opening at 10 am or a bit after.
I checked again and all they had was an 11:35 ADR for a solo diner. Then I thought, to check for a party of two as I can modify this within my reservations. I looked and there was a 10:05 am available! I immediately booked this and then modified the ADR for just myself! The Disney Gods have answered my prayers!!! I’m ecstatic, that I now have this ADR as I’ve heard so many amazing things about this new offering, especially from Cheryl and on some of the other Disney sites. It’s a bit pricey at $80, but will be a great experience and only three days away!
I had to modify a couple of my FP+ reservations for the MK with the Cali Brunch, but didn't have any problem making them. Splash Mountain is still 11:35, Haunted Mansion is now 12:50 and Space Mountain is now 1:50. I will be arriving a little bit later in the Animal Kingdom than originally planned, but I will still be spending the evening there. I'm hoping for a 3pm arrival or close to it.
In my preview title I mention final ADRs. I think I’ll wait until tomorrow for that and my final things to do before I go as this post is getting a bit long!
NEXT: Final ADRS and Almost Ready To Go!

Very happy with the doctor visit today!
I'm so psyched for the Cali Brunch and can't believe I overlooked this one, when making my ADRs! At least I have it now! Didn't want to give up FF but felt I had to. But the Cali is a good trade off, I think! Hope we can spend time together at next years F&W Fest. Hope our dates coincide!
