As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Luckily, we are doing Portabello's this time Love the relaxing feel of this trip and I love the F&GF booths. I haven't done this in years but I love the addition of food its so nice! Looks like you guys had some great eats and treats. Love all the pics!
La hacienda is next on my must list at some point so I"m glad to see it was good!
MMM I love Portobello! We did my birthday dinner there a few years ago

Sorry, the title is a PSU reference… but it also kind of makes sense here
We woke up bright and early and I tried to make breakfast but we were honestly still full from dinner last night so we only really had a few bites.
We hopped on a bus around 8:30am and we right on time for some Animal Kingdom action at 9am for opening.
I somehow picked a much faster bag line than Ellie but of course I waited for her We headed right off to the Safari and found a LOT of areas under refurb. No giraffes out and about today, which seemed odd, but we were able to hear the lion roar and it was such a treat. Seriously one of the coolest things ever!
We stopped for photos with the drums on our way outand they are some of my favorite of the whole trip! This park really is spread out, but at least there are beautiful views along the way!
Next up was two rides on Everest, one FP+ and one single rider and some great Photopass pictures along the way to Dinosaur. I of course had to stop for my typical picture with Aladar not sure how this ended up being “the spot” for me but my mom would be devastated if I didn’t get a pic here for her
We crammed a lot in this morning and were ready to take the pace down a notch for the next part of the day
A nice time in the AK with some great activity for KS! Glad you got a couple of rides on EE as I always use the single rider line and will ride it a few times in succession!

wow the lion roar was too cool!! I really enjoyed those pics! I do love AK, what I love the most is I can do it early on during the day and have the afternoon for something else. Those were great pictures

Yep it's definitely worth a second (or third) ride

I wish I could convey just how cool it was but pictures don't have the sound effects! I've tried to stay a full day at AK a few times because I've heard it's less busy in the afternoons because of people like us... but I never succeed!

After our thrills it was time to enjoy the great selection of souvenirs from the stores in Animal Kingdom. I had seen a stuffed dino at the ride exit shop and was planning to pick it up on the way out of the park because I like to sleep with stuffed animals… I’m an adult I swear guys
We headed off in search of lunch and shopping.
more construction along the way
As usual, I ended up making some lovely purchases that actually came in handy later in the trip.
Teri from Honolulu was wonderfully helpful in the Animal Kingdom store. I’m not sure if I already mentioned but Ellie is into pin trading so I of course did that with her and I had mentioned that I really look for Peter Pan and Sleeping Beauty pins. Not only was Teri just friendly and helpful (and shares a name with my mom!) she also had found a Peter Pan pin from one of her fellow Cast Members and brought it back over to me to see if I wanted to trade. It wasn’t my favorite but it still just made me feel very special.
Flame Tree BBQ was still closed (is still closed? I’m not really sure now that Harambe Market is open) so we headed over to Pizzafari which accepts Tables in Wonderland! It was pretty quiet, as I’ve always found this place to be since there’s ample seating. I ordered pasta and sangria and Ellie had a wedge salad and we were quickly on our way to a table.
This little break was just what we needed although I think the pasta ended up giving me heartburn which was a bummer. As I’ve gotten older I’ve noticed I get it a lot more frequently and although pasta is one of my absolute favorite meals, red sauce is often a culprit. But overall I was okay, just a tad uncomfortable but definitely not bad at all!

Repeat Visit
I seem to end up here every other trip or so, I think it’s really consistently good and a nice break from the heavier TS meals I enjoy so much
After lunch I was on the hunt for dessert and had heard good things about the bakery before the Safari, Kusafari I think it’s called? It’s by another one of the great AK stores so we headed off. I had ordered a lion paw brownie... but somehow what I was handed was a white elephant cupcake. I do also love cupcakes but it was quite huge! I didn’t ask for a change because it was so cute, but I couldn’t finish it all and did have to throw some away which was a bummer. The initial plan was also to get it to go as we were heading out of the park now, but they have no “to go” supplies here so lesson learned!
Made our way back out to the front to head out to the hotel for pool time but sink was still not fixed or cleaned up
finally took a pic of what we were dealing with
Instead of heading to the pool I passed out for a much needed nap due to it being “shark week” and the symptom that hits me hardest is exhaustion so I just gave in.
Woke up and went down to front desk in person to discuss the sink issue, because obviously our calls weren’t solving anything. The manager a the time, Maria, was very understanding and was going to look into it for us and let us know what we can do.
We headed back to the room to get ready for the night and Maria had actually called on our way back out with updates and potential compensation options. Yes it was so bad at this point that they actually gave us a room credit on a points reservation.
