A DREAM is a wish your heart makes...Halloween on the High Seas edition - updated 09/14/2014 - Page 18 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sounds like the boys managed to stay out of trouble while you enjoyed brunch with Melissa. Love the costumes. And I love all the pictures of the decorations!
another wonderful update. the party looks fun - that is a lot of candy, and the expensive kind too.
Their bags were about half full and yes they got the good stuff!

The portholes were too cute! I loved them!

They really were good and pretty much everywhere - all the restaurants had them in the front too.

Mostly out of trouble. If not for the ice cream all would have been fine.

Okay, I'll let you piggy back off of my TR for this one, since you did forget your camera and all. I completely forgot about all of the candy they got! Thanks for remembering. That's what happens when you write these things from memory instead of taking notes. I think I'm going to use the journal you gave me for taking notes when we go in May. The older I get the worse my memory becomes.
And I love how Mike's favorite thing was our sailaway party. That makes me smile.

I didn't forget it - I just sent it with Mike. And you had already described everything so well I didn't need to re-do it! Although I am going to need to get copies of some of those pictures.
I don't take notes either. I did take a few. But that's the main reason I take pictures of everything - so I know what happened when. And then I have Mike who remembers almost everything.

I planned on giving you all of the pictures so you could do what you wanted with them, but you know, I'm editing as I go along.
Great update! Y'all look so great in your costumes. Love seeing all the Halloween decorations around the ship. And what a candy haul! Your boys must've been eating candy for months!

Not to mention we went to MNSSHP after the cruise and then a few weeks later it was Halloween and trick or treating at home where they get a really good haul too. I think I took a picture of everything they got that month. Your Mom would've been in candy heaven!
After the Halloween party we headed back to the room and just relaxed for a while. Mike & I sat on the balcony with some margaritas I’d brought and the boys sat on the couch playing on their kindles and watching cartoons. We all got cleaned up at some point and headed out to meet some characters before dinner.
First up was Minnie as the line was very short. She was so cute in her Witch costume and Lukas ended up just loving Minnie. (He became a character seeking fool this trip! And that’s all he wants to do on our upcoming June trip too.) Next we had time to see Super Donald before heading to the show. I know I said we saw Golden Mickey’s the night before but I’m thinking tonight was actually that show and last night was Believe. Anyway, we made it to the show and as you’ll see with today’s highlights Dylan very much enjoyed it.
After the show Mike took Dylan back to the room to rest but Lukas wanted to see more characters so we got in line for Cinderella. I think I’ve got a future Prince Charming here as he was very adamant about seeing her and now that’s the main princess he talks about seeing again in June. Next we headed to get in line for Mickey and Mike & Dylan caught up to us before we got to the front. The line here was always a bit long and slow moving but passing the DVC desk every time turned out to be good. We could always pick up our gift and they had coloring books for the kids too. Plus some light up bracelets. I saw Melissa walk by with Hope & Chad so I invited them to wait with us. I mean the family in front of me went from 2 to 10 people so what’s one little girl with us. Finally we made it to Mickey and Hope got to see him too.
We saw the Captain while waiting for Mickey.
I forgot about this until I came across it in my pictures. It's hard to make out but the woman in the white shirt was pregnant and had two bloody baby arms coming out holding that little pumpkin pail. It was very odd! Funny for an adult party maybe, but not so family friendly I was thinking.
After characters we had some professional photos done and the lady kept us for quite a while that we were a little late getting to dinner! I ended up picking 2 of the pictures and could have easily gotten a few others.
And at some point Mike & Dylan had this taken:
We finally made it to Royal Palace for dinner. It’s so pretty in here! I loved the restaurant. And like Melissa mentioned we were off to the side, but it didn’t feel as if we were put in the corner either. We were seated next to a porthole where if you looked out you’d see the ocean, but seeing as it was dark both nights we were here it was hard to tell.
Dinner was delicious. I started with a cocktail, the Imperial Illusion. I’m thinking Mike skipped a beverage tonight as I don’t have a picture of one. Mike had the escargot (he wishes he would’ve ordered another helping), French onion soup, lobster macaroni & crème brule. I was proud of Dylan for ordering soup, but he ended up not liking it. He had the mac & cheese for his entrée while Lukas had a salad again and the spaghetti & meatballs. They both had a Mickey bar for dessert. I had the brie, salad, filet and the Grand Marnier soufflé (OMG – AMAZEBALLS!). The boys decided earlier that they didn’t want to go to the kid’s club so they stayed with us the whole dinner and really it was fine. They were good.

I loved the details on the dessert menu

After dinner we headed back to the rooms for some much needed sleep. It had been a wonderful at sea day.
Up next…exploring Nassau!
Favorites from today:
Day 6 – 10/14
Mike – escargot at dinner
Kelly – Palo Brunch
Dylan – seeing Golden Mickey’s
Lukas – meeting Cinderella
Great family photos before dinner! All the food looks so tasty but I find it a little odd that they serve french fries with spaghetti and meatballs Love your Halloween lights in the stateroom!
