A DREAM is a wish your heart makes – a First-time Cruise pre-trip report complete On the cruise ! - Page 18 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I I love the pictures from Hannibal! Yo really do have a lot of great things around you to do.
Legoland, yeah that should be a hit! Did you know that you can't visit Legoland unless you're with a child? I think there's one night a week they let unaccompanied "adults" in.

Not even close to boring! I'm sure you guys can do the drive alright, but if it gets to be too much, pull over and take a nap somewhere lighted and open, like a Wal-Mart. Brenda says crunchy stuff helps keep her awake, and I do believe she is right! She makes up a snack mix once in a while that I can just pig out on if I get sleepy!
When you wrote about Hannibal, it hit home to me cause I was just through there, as you know!
LegoLand is OK, and Brenda says we have to go to US when we take our grandson down, because they have more for boys... I'm not sure I agree, but we'll see...
I like the Kindles and the Amazon card is a good idea for the boys to make them their own.
I'm so happy that you get to meet up with Cam and Luke again!
Crunchy snacks on the list! Thanks Kenny!

Funny that you mention the great stuff we have when I just read an article that St. Louis was named the deadliest city to live in.
I did see that somewhere - some guy was ticked because of it! It is listed on the website - not in your face but it is on there.
No way is this boring, Kelly! I love all the detours into your home-based events and explorations. I don't see how St Louis got onto a list of deadliest places to live because it seems to me, you could keep busy every weekend of the year. I know you've got me convinced I need to visit and MO was never on my list of must-see states before. Every time you update about something you've done with the boys I add something to my list-- now I really want to go to Hannibal!

Well thank you Laurie! Maybe I should start a blog on all the things there are to do in and near St. Louis. And the deadliest was a combiniation of crime and natural disasters - we're still not sure how we got ranked the highest.
There won't be any excursions this weekend unless you count my Mom & I braving the openeing of a new outlet mall Saturday morning. They do have a Disney outlet though! So excited about that!
I your plans! This TR is totally NOT boring girl! I wish Dh would agree to a road trip, but I don't think it'll ever happen I'm also jealous about Legoland My oldest would think he's too "cool", my 9 yo would love it, but by the time we ever get around to planning a trip with LL, he may be too "old" smh...
I can't wait to see all your pictures of it!

OOO!! Hope there are lots of good finds there! Good luck!
I think those are great plans and this PTR isn't boring at all! By the way, I don't think you're crazy for getting them Kindles. My 4 year old has his own Kindle Fire HD too. It was supposed to be mine, but after 2 weeks I lost custody. He loves it.

Love the Ursula dogs!!! Looks like a great trip to Hannibal, MO. The plans sound great so far. Hope the kids are able to sleep on the drive!
I hope they can sleep too! We were trying to tell Dylan how long it is. Mike told him 32 tv shows and I told him 8 movies - he was like !

Mike got upgraded to the Kindle Fire HD, Lukas gets his regular Kindle Fire. My Mom got a great deal on the HD version from someone that was selling it, but I didn't really want the boys to have that version so Mike took one for the team. Like it was hard!
Wow! Only just caught up with this and it has been such fun reading it all. Your movie and dinner ideas are awesome! Our boys will be very similar ages when we cruise next December so I cannot wait to hear all about the cruise! Happy planning.

Busy dreaming of our next cruise - wishing upon a star for this one!
What great updates and plans so far! How did the book report go? Patrick just brought home his first night's worth of homework.
Here's a Kindle Fire tip you may already know - the plug to recharge? It's the same size as a standard Verizon cell phone (non-I phone). When we travel, I take my phone cord and our car charger for our phones so I can alternate between the Kindle and the phone. Also, if you leave the wi-fi setting off unless you're using it, it will make the batteries last longer - especially helpful on a long car trip

Your pre-cruise days sound fun - except driving down - yuck - too long.
I bought a Kindle in the spring and Evan loves it. I bought him kid size ear buds, best investment and a shock absorbing cover. It is soft foam that fits around the kindle, not a case but much more protective to drops . You can search on Amazon, both well worth it.
I'm taking Evan to Legoland on our next visit so you'll need to pass along any great tips. I'm afraid if we don't do it this trip he will outgrow it by our next visit. Evan got TOTALLY into Lego lasts year and since Dylan is a year younger than Evan - that sounds about right. I don't think they can really follow the instructions or have the dexterity to make them until they are about 5-6 years old. Let’s just say last year was a very "Lego" Christmas and Birthday.
