Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Happy Birthday! It's the kids they give you the grey hair. And the smile lines. And all the happiness that you can handle, but the grey hair too.

Can't wait to hear about your next trip! We're taking Mallory in Jan/Feb and I can't wait to bring my princess to WDW. Cameron will come too of course, but I'm thrilled to be taking Mallory.

I feel old today. And since I'm too lazy to keep up on something like dying my hair to hide the grey, I'll have to embrace it.

Day 11 - A canceled breakfast ressie, an unfulfilled pregnancy craving, and a trip to DTD.

This is the third time I have tried to write this entry, as my computer has just been a pain lately. I think I need to a new fan in my laptop. Anyway, here we go again.

We were supposed to have breakfast at Kouzzina at 9:30 that morning, but I woke up at 7AM feeling very ill. I checked the menu at Kouzzina and saw nothing I thought I would be able to eat. And most of the menu options had eggs, and David is allergic. I glanced at my sleeping husband and canceled our reservation with the mobile app on my phone. Then I lay back down and did my best to get some more sleep.

Mostly, I lay there trying to find a comfortable position, feeling pretty miserable.

David woke up around 10:30 and asked why we weren't at breakfast. I told him I was not feeling well and wanted to stay in bed "until forever...or at least until I feel better." He laughed and said that was fine with him, and settled down to read his Kindle while I dozed off and on and watched television. I tried to read, but it made me feel worse for some reason, so I put my Kindle away and stuck with the TV.

At 12:30 I started to cry. David was bewildered. "What's the matter?"

"I'm hungry!"

"Okay..."

"I want a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup."

"Honey, I don't know where to get that for you. If I did, I would in a heartbeat...let's go down to the food court and get you something else."

"I don't want anything else."

"You have to eat."

"Nope."

"The baby is hungry."

(Small pause.) "Darn you and your guilt trips."

"I know, I'm terrible. Let's go!"

A pregnant lady can throw tantrums every once in a while, right?

The truth is, grilled cheese and tomato soup was my comfort food while I was pregnant. I could eat it even when I was feeling super nauseous and absolutely everything else made me feel more sick. I was told by a nice CM later that if I had any more cravings like that, to just tell a chef ...he would have gladly made me a grilled cheese.

So when we got down to the food court, I studied every kids menu very carefully, trying to find my precious grilled cheese, at the very least. I was forced to admit defeat, though, and glumly ordered a "Create Your Own Salad" again. I really only picked at the chicken on top of the salad, and ate some of the pita bread, but it was enough to satisfy David (and myself, lol) that I wasn't starving our unborn child.

We went back up to the room at about 2:00. David told me later that I asked him to turn on the t.v., and he did, and when he turned to say something to me I was curled up on the bed, fast asleep. So he left me a note in case I woke up and went out to walk around the resort a bit.

He was back long before I opened my eyes, however, because it was 6:00 before I swam up out of my sleepy unconsciousness!

I felt a little better (at least well enough that I was hungry for food and not feeling like eating was a bad idea), so I told David that I wanted to go to Pollo Campero at DTD, since that had been our original plan for dinner. I grabbed a quick shower, and we were ready to leave the hotel.

Since my foot/ankle was still being bothersome, I felt like we were moving at a snails pace, but we weren't in any particular hurry, so David kept encouraging me to take my time. (And suggesting a wheelchair over and over and over again... )

Once we arrived at DTD and made our way to the restaurant, we both ordered chicken strips and fries. David had tea with his dinner, and I chose lemonade. Since we weren't using dining credits for our meal, we skipped dessert. We thought the chicken was pretty good, but if I remember correctly, the fries were terrible.

After dinner, I hobbled with David over to D-Street. He found a really cool Star Wars shirt with Boba Fet on it that he wanted to buy, which is when we realized we had left that days souvenir purchase cash back in the safe. I promised David we would come back for his shirt, though, because it was the first thing he had picked out on the whole trip.

I did have enough cash on me to purchase an American Flag vinylmation, which I really like. (And I was feeling all patriotic since it was September 11th.)

We wandered over to check out the movie times at the theater, but nothing really grabbed us, so we went to Candy Cauldron to get my long awaited caramel apple. We got that, peanut butter fudge, and a white chocolate chip cookie. We debated getting a few other things, but the smell of the shop started to make me feel sick (too sweet for me that day I think, since I wasn't feeling the best), so we made our purchases with snack credits and went outside to find somewhere to sit down.

We found a place near the water. I took a couple bites of my apple and actually ended up throwing it away. The caramel was very good, but the apple was very bad. I don't know if my pregnancy was throwing off my taste buds or if it really was a bad apple, but either way, it wasn't edible for me!

David ate most of his fudge (I didn't have any of it, since I'm allergic to peanuts), but I decided to save my cookie for later.

We slowly made our way to the Marketplace. David wanted to check out the Lego store, but I wasn't feeling up to the huge crowd inside, so I found a place to sit and rested my ankle while he was in there. I remember I saw a dad and mom walking by with their son, who was probably 20 or so, and the dad had his arm around his son, and the son had his arm around his mom, and they were all laughing. I remember it because I thought it was so sweet that their family was obviously so close and loving. I don't know. Just one of those good people-watching moments.

After David was done checking out all the ginormous Star Wars Lego sets that we couldn't afford (), we checked out the $20 or less store but didn't make any purchases. We did encounter a CM there who was less than amused by my having a 1st Visit Pin on my belly for Briana. She was an older lady and she seemed actually miffed by it. "It's not as if your baby will remember this as their first visit, and it isn't your first visit."

I tried to laugh it off, but she was really upset, you could just tell, and that was upsetting me. And she was kind of following us around the store talking about it, until David finally smiled very nicely at her and politely told her that it wasn't her belly or her business to be telling me what I could wear on it. (He almost never does something like that!) And then he took my hand and led me out of the store.

I hope no one is offended by him doing that...but we were kind of offended by her attitude. It still makes me sad, actually, thinking back on it. Because when she asked about the pin initially, I was thinking "Oh, she's probably a grandma, she'll love this," but then she sort of gave me a verbal smackdown and I felt sort of crushed.

I was actually starting to talk about taking the pin off because I felt stupid for wearing it now. David told me to cheer up, that everyone else loved my pin idea, and that lady was obviously having a bad day. So I cheered up and left my pin where it was.

When we got back to the buses, I was hungry again, so I pulled out my cookie.

Best. Cookie. Ever! Seriously! I just about went to pregnant lady heaven, right there at the bus stop.

Once we got back to the resort, I wanted to book our vacation for the following September with our bounce back offer. I looked at the clock as I dialed. It was 9:24PM. After about ten minutes of waiting I put it on speakerphone while David and I played cards. Someone finally picked up the phone at 10:15.

After everything was all booked and I did a very pregnant happy dance (which was made even more ridiculous by the fact that I wasn't putting any weight on my bad ankle), we went down to the food court and paid out of pocket for some food. David got "chicken nugget thinigies" (his description when I asked, lol), and I got myself a very healthy choice...a chili cheese dog. We both had hot chocolate, and then I went back and got some milk because I was craving it...again.

We called David's parents once we got back to the room, since we hadn't heard back from them on any of our text messages. Then we debated going swimming, but by that time it was nearly midnight, and even with my nap, I was exhausted.

Coming up next: An allergy scare, a near fall, and David finally gets me in that wheelchair...
