Goin' Down the Bayou ~ The TR (November 1-10, 2012) - Page 18 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sounds like a great evening! When I see shots of the whole family together I am still facisnated by how much Kaeli looks like Chris and Abby looks like you. Too funny!
I like the Piggy Bank game, even though it's not thrilling.
Those fiber optics were very cool! I have seen the little lights in the black tiles around SE, but not those big ones. I'll have to check for them next trip.
Love the pics in front of SE at night, I don't have any shots of SE at night...another thing to add to my to do list.
Can't wait about the best breakfast ever.
It's funny that we both have little "mini me's", right? Abby especially takes after my side of the family, she's the spitting image of my sister when she was a kid, she even has the same silly personality. They are two peas in a pod
Those fiber optics are really cool! I've only ever seen the smaller ones that look like stars sparkling, but these are hidden off of the main path in a little square in front of the Innoventions West building. They change colors and "dance", definitely worth looking for them

Great update! Funny how our plans seem to get overruled by our children right? Great pictures at night! I always seem to forget to get night pictures anywhere but at MK. I love the action photopass shots of the girls, too fun!

Darn kids, they always get in the way of our plans I usually forget about the night time shots at the other parks too, I was glad I remembered this trip! I was so glad that action shot came out, I wasn't sure how it was going to end up when the photographer took it. Usually if I try something like that, all I get is a big blurry blob

We had a great night Abby had a death grip on that bear, I couldn't pry it from her hands if I tried
We were up and at ‘em pretty early this morning, we dressed and headed out the door by 7 for our early ADR at TH. We made our way over to the bus stop, hardly waiting at all for a bus to the AK.
We arrived at the park and walked over to the turnstiles open for early breakfasts, where they checked and double checked our names and confirmation number on a list before allowing us in. I just thought it was odd that they seemed so strict here, but not so for our early breakfast on Sunday at the MK.
We stopped for a couple of Photopass pics before heading over to Tusker House.
I got a little worried when I saw a huge line waiting to check in , but got a place in line while Chris took the girls to get some pressed pennies for our collection. Turns out, there was a large party checking in, and everyone in the party was on line. When they were done, about 20 people left the line, so I ended up not having a long wait at all. Phew!
It was misting a bit this morning, so we all hung out under the covered seating area of the Dawa Bar while waiting to be called. After a few minutes, our table was ready and we were being brought over for our picture. I guess because of the weather, Donald was not outside for photos he would be inside instead.
We were brought to our table and enjoyed some Jungle Juice and coffee while we waited for the chef. Man is that juice good! I’ve been craving it ever since we got back. Soon enough, the chef had come over to discuss Kaeli’s allergy, he accompanied us up to the buffet and walked the line showing us all of the options for her. Mostly everything was safe, but there were some things we needed to avoid, like the baked goods because of cross contamination issues. He did point out a table full of donuts, and to our surprise, they were on the safe list! Krispy Kreme makes them for Disney, and guarantees that they are nut free.
We grabbed some plates and filled them up with lots of delicious things (sorry, no pics again!), Kaeli had only one thing on her mind though – those donuts! She grabbed a couple (and nothing else), and headed back to the table to chow down. I know, Bad Mommy! It’s just so rare that she gets to enjoy a treat like that out, and we were on vacation, so I was ok with her having them this morning. This is, of course, was the time she declared this the best breakfast ever!
After several trips to the buffet, and lots of plates of food, our bellies were quite full! We settled the bill and headed out towards the safari, which was practically a walk on. We made it all the way up to the loading area, where the trucks stopped for a bit. Apparently, there were some animals on the path up ahead, so they had to wait for it to clear. Soon enough, we were boarding our truck for our two week journey.
This was one of the best safaris we had ever been on, it was definitely worth being here early for. There were tons of animals everywhere, with lots of movement and activity. Most times were are just watching them nap, so this was a real treat!

Love the photos of the girls at the bus stop. So cute! I see Abby is still holding Duffy and keeping him nice and warm. Breakfast sounds so yummy and Kaeli must have been so happy she could have the donuts. Great safari pics-- so many animals out and standing up!
Thanks for your pictures at the Tusker House. This is one of our early breakfast I have set for us too. Can't wait to try that juice everyone is talking about. Looks like you had a great time and got to see a lot of animals.
All caught up. Sound like you had a really nice day in Epcot. I missed just walking around WS on our last trip so I REALLY want to make sure I do that on our next trip. So cool to have Agent P at the Kidcot stops. I suppose some boys would rather not have a cuddly bear.
