A Very Merry Surprise ~ The TR (11/4/11 - 11/12/11) - Page 18 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Thanks, Tabitha! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Ive been looking at different pictures and videos of POR nonlinear and I am really looking forward to it, it looks so beautiful!
I am AWFUL!! But, I AM going to finish this TR before I see you.
First of all, I do think the girls would enjoy the Behind the Seeds tour. We did it this trip and if I ever get my act together and get a bunch of updates up, you'll see that the boys enjoyed it as well. Especially the ladybugs.
What a great idea making your own video game. My boys are video game addicts and I think we'll try to make a point of doing that this trip.
I know!! Where did the Itzakadoozie bars go??
We had fun doing KP too, are the girls excited that it's changing to Agent P?
I love the picture of the girls near the phone booth. I don't know why just the sun being out and the colors and how cute they are I guess.
I think we're going to be hitting the F&WF very early on in our trip this year being as they moved the Wine & Dine Half Marathon to the last weekend of the F&WF. That is going to be a CRAZY combination and I think we'll be avoiding Epcot that last weekend!!
I love the beads for life. I bought a black one so I could wear it with a lot, but decided that is going to be something I collect from Disney in all colors.
LOVE LOVE the Abby and her bologna story!!! That is so priceless!! Love what comes out of kids mouths.
Sorry you didn't make RD this day. (Maybe that got remedied later on...but of course I'm so far behind ) We were the same way! I all the years we'd been there, we had never made MK rope drop until this trip. That was on my MUST do list.
I like the picture of Chris and the girls in the sled outside of the Christmas Shoppe. And...I don't think that's a bad picture of you and Abby on BTMRR, I think it's sweet.
We love to just ride around the park on the train. I never realized the Giant peeking into that gift shop. I think we're going to have to check that out this trip.
So glad Abby's joke got picked. We tried this trip but it didn't work.
These are my two favorite PP pics so far.

Seriously, you and are are on parallel trips without seeing each other...this was my first time every seeing the inside of the GF as well!!
Craig hates smelly stores too so I shopped at Basin myself. I got the hand cut soaps that were little bags of random left overs. I love smell of the light blue with dark blue and whit Mickey heads the best. But, I'll be doing some more shopping there this trip.
Amazing that we were there only days later and that gingerbread house was covered in gingerbread! How do they do that?
One of these days I'd like to eat with Cinderella and the Stepsisters, but having all boys, not sure it's going to happen
Love the MSEP pictures you got. And a favorite of mine is the one of the balloons.
Aaaahhh...the castle lights.
Wow...don't you love when you have that small world moment? That's just !
I was thinking to myself "Look at that sky" before I scrolled down to where you said it as well... WOW!

Okay...you and Abby are making a bad habit of sitting out the first ride. But, glad you got on Triceratop Spin. That's a favorite of Jason's and usually what we ride when the big boys are riding PW.
I do not like ITTBAB anymore!! I'm a chicken. The boys keep asking to go see it, but I know we'd end up running out just like you all did.
And you went to Flame Tree and got a turkey sandwich!!??

They would LOVE the ladybugs! Last year they got a ladybug and butterfly garden for Easter, they really enjoyed watching them grow and releasing them into our garden!

I'm definitely getting a few of them this year!

Out of the mouths of babes, right? I still joke with her about this, at random times I make sure she has all of her "balogna" She doesn't always think it's so funny though

I think this year I will plan a trek over to the GF later in the week so we can see the house all covered in gingerbread! Mmmm!
1900 Park Fare is so much fun, I think the boys would really like it. The Stepsisters are a riot, and they could get the chance to dance with Cinderella

It was such a beautiful morning! I wish I could have bottled it up I got those giraffe shirts at Old Navy last summer, as soon as I saw them I knew they would be perfect for our AK day! Abby liked them because the giraffes were "fancy" in their bowties
I know, a turkey sandwich Don't flame me, ok Seriously, I must have been gearing up for Thanksgiving or something. I didn't realize until I wrote this TR just how many Turkey sandwiches I ate all week. I think last count was 4
Just finished your tr, thanks for sharing, looks like you had a great trip!! We are also going Jersey week this year, 1rst time going that week. In your opinion, do you think it's a crowded week or should I be prepared for long waits? Last year we went December 13 - 20, it's supposed to be a slow time & the lines were insane!! it was usually at least 120 min. wait for Toy Story Mania, we only got to ride it 1 time that trip & we waited in line over an hour with a 2yr. old, NOT fun at all
From one Jersey Girl to another: I LOVE your TR! Trips with little girls are so much "different" than trips with boys. Someday I'll have to borrow some of the girls I babysit to have that kind of fun.

I don't know how I missed this, I'm so sorry I didn't answer you sooner!! We are going again this year for Jersey Week, it will be our third time going during that week I will be honest and say that I did notice higher crowds last year than I did in 2010, BUT it's really not bad at all. Toy Story always seems to have long lines, the waits for that did get up to the 120 min mark on some days we were ther. Other than that, Fastpass is your friend! We didn't really wait longer than 30 minutes for rides in the standby line, and for those that were longer we got Fastpasses.
I hope you have a good time this year, and for your sake and mine I hope crowd levels are low!! If you see us in the parks, be sure to say hi!

Awww, thanks!! I feel the Jersey love I think sometimes I take for granted all of the girlie Princess fun we have in the parks, but honestly, I don't even think I would know what to do if I brought only boys with me
