Holy Great Movie Ride (April 5 - 10)! TR Begins - COMPLETE!! 6/8 - Page 18 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Love the 4 quick updates!! Bingo-bango-bongo-bungo!! (okay...corny) I LOVE the pic of EE at night and was thinking of getting a portable tripod for our next trip. And I had the Bourbon Chicken at Y&Y our last trip and I have to say I think it was my favorite meal of the trip!!

The nighttime pics at AK are amazing!! I've never been to AK at night. Have to rectify that. . . . And I think the nighttime shot of EE will now be my new wallpaper on my computer. Thanks
Have you never ate at CM before? We go every trip and just looove it. I think it might be our favorite character meal. Can't wait to bring Hailey there next year
We arrived at Epcot shortly after park opening and made our way over to Test Track. We grabbed a couple FPs and then hopped over to Mission Space for our mission to Mars. Orange more extreme team of course After we successfully landed on Mars without going over the edge of the cliff (you’d think we’d learn how to avoid that after so many trips… ) we decided to take our time and take in some of the F&GF sights. We started with the butterfly house… On the way we passed Princess Tiana’s Wedding Bayou
Followed by the fairy stuff…
Then we made our way inside the butterfly house…
I soon realized I could stay in there all day snapping photos of the pretty butterflies! I had my big lens with me so I used it in here and it was perfect. Some lady beside me made the comment that I had the right kind of camera.. my first thought was “yeah, I came prepared ”
Tuesday’s post on the photoblog also has a couple different shots of the butterflies (my favorite ones actually )
We continued around and ended up in Club Cool and then decided to head on over and Journey into our Imagination…
We played around outside the Imagination Pavilion (whoa..that could sound bad) taking pictures of the fountains but I didn’t get anything I was really happy with, maybe one that might show up on the blog later. It was nice to just take some time up in that area.
We headed back over to Test Track to use our FP. It’s always kind of weird to have that single rider on the end with us…. We’re pretty stupid on rides so I’m sure the single rider is thinking it’s pretty weird, too
We mosied up to the front and caught a bus back to Pop. Breakfast was starting to wear off (I mean, it had been 3 hours since we ate and we discovered that the Disney stomach wants food every 3 hours….). We stopped in the Pop foodcourt to get lunch. Andy went back to the room to get our mugs while I ordered some food. I got us the meatball sub and salad to split. Our room still hadn’t been cleaned yet, Andy said they were right beside it, so we ate down in the foodcourt while we waited for the Bakers to arrive. They had let us know that they were on their way after a quick stop at their beloved Target.
That meatball sub was DE. LISH! After lunch we got back to the room to rest up and refresh. The Bakers arrived shortly after and Andy and I got ready for the evening. The plan was to head to DTD and pick up Ridley Pearson’s newest Kingdom Keeper book and try to get it signed because he was making an appearance at Once Upon a Toy. The signing was to start at 4 so we got to DTD around 3:30 thinking that would be okay. I knew there’d be a bit of a line but let me tell you, I had NO idea it would be what it was. That line went out the back door of the toy store and wrapped all the way around to the back of the building ! I picked up my copy of the book, bought it, and got the heck outta there. I couldn’t bring myself to waste precious Disney hours in line to get my book signed. Instead, we met the Bakers at the Earl which is where they had headed b/c they were hungry. Let me remind you, it had been 3 hours since we last ate, so we decided that there was no way we could sit at the Earl, watching those Bakers eat one of those glorious sandwiches, without having one of our own . So Andy went in and got us the Hawaiian BBQ which was a first for us. We split it and we each had a beer to go with it This was much better than sitting in the hot sun in line
Once we made the Disney stomach happy we went into the World of Disney to look around, with the main goal of spotting the Dooney and Burke bags. Andy had said that I needed to get the wristlet thing b/c I’d been talking about those bags since word spread that they were out and I have showed him picture after picture online So we went through a few of the wristlets before I found one I was happy with… And using my AP I got 10% off! Score! I already posted these on FB during the trip, but in case you aren’t on FB…. I liked this one b/c it had Mickey on the back with the label and it had that neat firework looking design right over the snap in the front. And it had a Donald hat and a Goofy hat! Perfect! It really was great b/c I had been looking for over a year for something Disneyfied to put my iPhone in and it fit perfectly in this bag, along with my license and debit cards and stuff. Andy and Brandi joked it was my big girl purse b/c Andy always ends up carrying my license when we go out and I usually forget to get it back So for the rest of the trip, I carried my license, my AP, any FPs I got, and my iPhone in my big girl purse I think it started to make Andy a little sad that he didn’t have to carry my stuff and get it for me and put it back and all that stuff We’ll see what he says….
After my fantastic purchase we played around in the World of Disney…. Which resulted in this:
Pom decided he wanted a Ghirardelli shake but we just didn’t have room….the Disney stomach was working on one hour of having had food. It was good for another 2. So we sat outside, people watched, trash talked, and waited…
Once Pom had his shake we made our way to the Baker Bus and were off for evening at Epcot. Yes, the original itinerary changed… we were going to the MK originally but I decided I had missed Epcot at night and didn’t want to wait
Great update! I have plans on buying the D&B tote, but I'm thinking I need the wristlet too. Mind sharing the cost so I can be prepared? Sounds perfect for my iPhone and other small things when I dont want to carry a purse.

Great updates! I've never had breakfast at Chef Mickey's - just dinner. I'll have to give it a try on my next trip. I know you've posted before, but what brand SLR do you have? Looking forward to reading more.
