As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Saturday March 13th Continued:
Dillon and I decided we would go back to MK tonight to see Wishes since we had missed it last night (I never did find out if they were able to have the show in the rain or not Friday night). So we had a few hours to rest before going back. Once in the room, Dillon put on his swim shorts and we headed to the pool. I was cold just watching him, so there was no way I was getting in that water. He swam for nearly an hour and there were lots of others swimming also. He said the water was warm, but was freezing when he got out.
Dillon and I took turns showering before heading to the food court for dinner. We had dinner at 5pm. The food court was empty. We had the same thing as last night- Dillon had a chili dog with chili cheese fries and I had a bacon cheeseburger with pasta salad. I seldom eat burgers, or red meat for that matter, but their burgers are awesome! After dinner we headed back to the room to watch a few more Hanna Montana episodes. I don’t know if it was a Miley marathon or what, but Hanna was on every time we turned on the tv.
Wishes was scheduled for 9pm, so we headed to the bus about 7:30pm.(When I seen the crazy long line for a MK bus, I should have taken that as a cue to turn around) I enjoy Spectro and I hoped to see it, but it wasn’t a must. Of course the place was packed with people getting ready for the parade when we entered. Dillon wanted to ride the tea cups before finding a spot for Wishes. On our way into the MK, Dillon was complaining of his leg hurting but it didn’t seem to be bad and I was hoping he would walk it off. We managed to get into Fantasy Land and we made a pit stop to see Philharmagic again. It was MUCH busier than yesterday and the place was nearly full. We enjoyed the show as usual. Next we walked towards the tea cups and MK was crazy crowded! The tea cups had a wait listed at 20 minutes, so Dillon didn’t want to wait. We decided to try to find a spot for Wishes and I wanted to go to the Confectionary and get some fudge to take home.
On the way from the tea cups Dillon’s leg was really starting to bother him and he said he wanted to leave. As much as I wanted to see Wishes- it was not meant to be and we headed towards the exit. About this time, the parade was over and the parks went from crowded to CROWDED. Dillon was all but getting run over by the crowds and started crying. He said it was because of his leg, but I think it was more from the crowds. The crowd was stressing me out also, so we made our way to the exit as quickly as we could. We walked up to a waiting bus, but there was a long line and the bus quickly filled to standing. We got on and managed to find one empty seat for Dillon and I was going to stand until I realized there was another empty seat, so I got to sit also. We made it back to the hotel and Dillon’s leg was still bothering him when he stood on it. <I don’t know what it was because it was completely fine the next day> we watched a little more Hanna Montana before going to sleep.

I know where Dillon is coming from - the crowds can be overwhelming. I had to take my children right off to one side one evening and wait for the mass of people to thin out. It's not always easy to find a place to get out of the way either.
Sorry about Dillon's leg and the huge crowd and the missed Wishes! I have had a few times where I've felt totally overwhelmed by the crowds at WDW, and Main Street at MK can seem to close in on you when the crowd is so big.

Your right, There really was no where to get out of the way, we just tried to exit as best we could....

Yea, it wasn't the best night; but glad he was fine the next day
Sunday March 14th
The time changed this morning, so we were losing an hour of sleep. I’m sure this made the parks a little slower at rope drop, too bad we could not take advantage of it since this was departure day. Airline checks in opened at 5am, but I didn’t get up till a little after 6am. Dillon and I quickly got ready and headed over to check in and get our boarding passes. That only took a few minutes and it was right at 7am when we made it to the food court. I had French toast again and Dillon had a cinnamon roll and bacon again. (Breakfast total $10.41)
We headed back to the room to finish packing.
It didn’t take long at all to have everything packed and ready to go. We hung out in the room awhile- watching Hanna Montana before we finally headed out just before 9am. We stopped off at the gift shop to get Wesley an autograph book like Dillon’s for his souvenir and I picked out a key chain for my dad. Dillon also got himself a puffles keychain. (Dillon’s puffle clip and the autograph book totaled $18.00 exactly and the keychain totaled $7.46) At about 9:15am we headed over to DME pick up. We took a seat on the bench and waited.
For the longest we were waiting on our own, but about five minutes before pick up time a few other families joined us. The DME bus was about 5 minutes late, but we were soon boarding and on our way to the airport.
We were the second stop at the air port. After we found our gate, we got some Burger King for lunch. Dillon enjoyed his nuggets but I didn’t like my fish sandwich at all. We boarded the plane on time and were soon ready to take off. A few families in front of us was a little girl boarding holding the very same sword we had tried to buy at MK and was told wasn’t allowed on the plane. I still appreciate the CM’s good intentions even if it was the wrong information.
We boarded quickly and were ready for takeoff. Unfortunately, the pilots were nowhere to be found. Seriously- they made an announcement saying everything was ready to go, but they could not find the pilots. This went on for over 30 minutes. There were several people with close connections that were now going to miss their flights! They said they never could find the pilots, so they recruited two other pilots. We finally took off nearly an hour late.
The flight was uneventful and when we landed they made an announcement to please let passengers that had a layover within the next 30 or fewer minutes get off first. So, Dillon and I stayed seated. Now, either 90% of the plane had a connection leaving within 30 minutes or Dillon and I were in the minority 10% that actually followed instructions in an attempt to help other passengers get to their flight. I’m pretty sure it was the latter.
Soon enough, Dillon and I were off the plane. My dad picked us up and we were soon on our way home. I was glad to see the kids and the kids were glad to see we got them souvenirs. I only got them one very small thing each since they had just been over Thanksgiving, but they were excited all the same. On a funny side note: Madilyn’s hair looked a mess and I asked her if she brushed it today. She said- “you didn’t send me a hair brush”. I said, you didn’t brush your hair all weekend?? She said, “You told me not to use other people’s hair brushes in case they have head lice”. I told her that I was pretty sure that her grandparents didn’t have lice and in the future it would be ok to make an exception. Up Next: Final Thoughts

Great trip report - thanks. Trust a PP'er to do the nice thing and let people with connections off the plane first.
Too funny about Madilyn's hair brushing avoidance!
Oh no!! It can't be over.....so sad getting back on DME & heading home! But it sounds like you both had a wonderful time together!!
We definately had a great time, but the thing about such a short trip is it's over almost as soon as you get there.....

Thanks! And yes, I thought it was pretty crummy of those folks to rush off knowing it would likely cause someone to miss their flight......

The pilot thing was crazy. There were a lot of jokes that they were off at a bar some where.... But when the "new" pilots came they said that they thought the pilots were just misinformed of the scheduling possibly. But the stewardessess said they were never able to get in contact with them, so no one knew for sure... I don't know, but I was thankful I didn't have small kids/babies with me because it was different than being delayed inside the airport, we were stuck there in our seats and I felt really bad for the moms that had small children on board....
