Dream of Lifetime TR Sept 23-Oct 5 **COMPLETE!! 9/14** - Page 18 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sorry for the delay in the TR there has been a lot going on. Lets get this show rolling again.
Today we had some well planned day but instead we rolled with the flow. We decided to take the DVC tour. We got up to head over. Shayne wasn’t feeling good & we thought it was that he was just tired from the Halloween party the night before. He stayed at the room. We went do to the lobby area to catch the DVC bus to take us to Saratoga. On the way there Shayne called to say that his room key wasn’t working. My mom told him to head down to the lobby to get a new key made. We got to Saratoga and register then were shown to the couches. We sat there for a little bit and a rep showed up. The reps name was Bruce. He sat down with us & started to tell us about different things. He bought up how we got info about the tour on our first trip. That was four years ago & then we weren’t able to buy in. We never took a tour we just talk to a rep at MGM and the sent us some info. He wanted to know why we got the info & never did anything with it. Financially we were not ready back then. So after a little bit of drilling we made our way to the models. My parents liked the feel of AKL but I loved BLT. We went back to his office to talk about the points & money that kind of stuff. He kept pushing AKL & wasn’t telling us much about BLT. We thought was a little strange. Even though my parents like the feel of AKL with us staying at the Poly we loved the convenience of monorail & being so close to MK. My dad was all for buying into it. My mom was dragging her feet which is a shock. My mom & I are the Disney freaks. Bruce left for a few minutes to let us discuss it. Let me just say we were not impressed with Bruce at all. There was a lot of info he left out that we found out later on. The big kicker was when Bruce came back in. He wanted to know if we were interested my dad said yes and my mom was still dragging her feet. He started talking about the down payment and stuff like that. Bruce actually told us he could take us back to the Poly & get our money bags. So that we could get the process rolling. We were a little appalled by this. With my mom dragging her feet that pretty much ended the meeting for us. They told him they would have to think about it. We discussed it on the way back to the hotel. We would love to buy into dvc but was turn off by his comments. My dad was pointing out things like how much money we spend by coming every year & that this would diffuse some of the cost. They liked staying on the monorail. Even though they like the feel of AKL we loved the convenience of monorail. Since Bruce pushed AKL we weren’t sure what things were for BLT. Once we got back to the hotel we found Shayne. When he went down to the lobby to get his room key fixed. They cancel out my dad’s, they both had new keys. We decided to get some lunch a Capt. Cooks. After lunch we changed into our swimsuits & took a dip in the pool. We had such a great time swimming. To be able to see the castle while swimming made it even more magical.
We return to the room to chill out & get cleaned up before our dinner at Kona Café. We had one of the best meals here at the Kona. We were planning on going to MK for EMH but we decided just to chill out at the hotel the rest of the day. We watch the electric water parade & the fireworks from the beach.
We took a night swim in the quite pool before we headed to bed. It was a real relaxing day.
Up next: Breakfast with one of my favs & DTD shopping trip.
Today is a relaxing day. We started out our day at breakfast at Ohana’s. This was a first for us. I do have to say we really enjoyed. The character interaction is great. I loved being able to get a picture with Stitch.
After breakfast we headed back to our room to grab a few things & headed out DTD for the day.
The first stop was the Christmas Store which is one of my favorites. Shayne is all about the pins.
After getting his fix on pins Shayne went over to DisneyQuest. We continue to have a casual time browsing the stores. T-Rex had just taken down the barrier wall the day before so we took some pictures.
While my mom & I was shopping my dad was sitting on a bench by the DVC stand. The lady started to talk to him about DVC when he told her about the experience that we had the other day. She was appalled by what she heard. My dad said that we were interested but that kind of turn us off. She was tell us about all of the ways you can use points. She told us we should try someone else. We should try to talk to someone else. My mom was so put off by she wasn’t sure about that either. After our talk with her we continue over to Pleasure Island which had just closed. I took pictures of all of the buildings.
We headed over to the Westside for some more shopping moving at a leisure pace. When we were shopped out. We headed into DisneyQuest to spend some time with Shayne. We did Astro Blaster, some of the arcade games & headed to make your own rollercoaster. Shayne & I had done this last year but my parents had never experience it. It was really fun. My mom & I were together & Shayne & my dad. I told my mom what was going to happen if you put flips in. Shayne did not tell my dad about this. They had a ton of twist & flips. After we were done we rode our rollercoaster it was so much fun. My dad didn’t realize that he was going to go upside down until they told him to place everything in a locker. After that we headed out so that Shayne & my dad could hit house of blues & a couple of places.
By this time we were starting to get hungry & decided to head over to EOS to get some sandwiches. After a fun filled day of shopping we decided to head over to the bus stop. Stopped by to get a picture for our Christmas cards.
We arrived at the bus stopped & wait for the bus. We were there for 10-15 mins. This group arrive with the stroller convention & walk right in front us. The bus came & they pushed in front of everyone else. I couldn’t believe how rude they were. They kept telling the bus driver they need on first & pushing up in the line because they had strollers. After a long ride back to the resort with the rude people we turn in for the night. What a beautiful day we had.
Up Next: AK & a wonderful surprise we had that night.

Today is our AK day. I have to admit that AK is our least favorite park. We usually go in & get done what we want to. We had a nice photo opt with Stitch as soon as we got there.
We headed over for our breakfast at Donald’s Safari. This is the first time we had been there since it change. It was OK but I don’t think we would hit again this year.
After breakfast we hit all of our major rides. The safari, Kali, & EE.
My dad had seen these wind chimes he wanted so we stop to pick them up. We had a leisure day of taking our time since it was extremely warm that day. We did get to ride EE twice in a row because there was nobody there. That was really nice. Around 2:30 or so my mom & I headed over to Camp Mickey & Minnie. This was the first time we have done that & had a blast doing it. The lines weren’t that long either. I think the only one we didn’t get in line for was Mickey.
We had some really great pictures & were a great time for us. Since the men in our party didn’t want to go they shopped around for a bit. They also saw some of the parade. We meet up with them & did so shopping before we headed out for the day.
Once we got back to the resort we went & relaxed a bit. Shayne went swimming. Then we headed over to Capt. Cooks for some dinner. It was relaxing evening. Watch some fireworks on the beach.
Later that evening we were sitting out on a bench beside the hotel my mom was talking to me grandma on the phone. I decided to head up for the night. I started back to our room when I looked over at the castle on my way and what did I she. The castle was all lit up with Christmas lights.
I go tell me mom & we head up to get some cameras. My dad grabs the video camera & we headed to the end of the building to take pics & video of the lights. It was so special to me & my mom because we can’t go down during Christmas time. With my dad working for the Ohio Turnpike it is not a good time to go down. So that just made our trip that more special. It was an absolute beautiful ending to our day. Thank you Disney for testing the lights while we were there.
OMG! I love being the first to post after an update!
That is so amazing about the Christmas lights!!! So cool! Me and Rob went during the holidays in 2005 before they did the castle lights and now that I have a teaching job I wont get to see them for a veeery long time! lol!
In any case, I also hafta say in the AK pics you look so skinny! I can really tell all your wieght loss in them! I dont know if its the color or what but girl you did a great job on your wieght loss and look fabulous!!
Oh and I know just how you feel about AK, its a quick halfday for us usually. Weve never even stayed long enough to see the parade there! lol!
