Is That a Raincloud Over My Head? EMTPEJ's Land & Sea Adventure **Updated 10/28** - Page 18 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just getting caught up! Reading about your cruise part of the trip really makes me want to do that
all the pictures too!
Looking forward to more updates!
Since I got up LONG before everyone else, I started our laundry in the Laundromat near the ‘Neverland’ club / Tangaroa terrace. The only problem I have with it was the dryers were gas powered and did not really have a ‘low’ setting. I went over to Capt. Cooks and purchased resort mugs for everyone and filled them and took them back to the room. They were all still asleep, of course. Momma HAS to have her diet cola when she wakes, you know. Since I knew no one else would be interested, I managed to get a table for one at Kona and enjoyed a press pot of coffee and an order of Tonga Toast.
Laundry, shopping, filling the mugs…how so very valiant of you!
The pressed pot is my favorite thing at Kona!

We did back in time to get available seats to watch the Electric Water Pagent and then Wishes from the hammocks on the beach back at the Poly, along with some FBs.
What a way to end your day!
I watching the parade and fireworks from the beach! It’s so relaxing!
Another great update! I'm really enjoying your trip!

When we got there, I saw the little remote-control tree character with the annoying voice and I told it I was getting my chainsaw! Gotta keep those guys on their toes, you know. Hee hee!
Definitely keep them in line!
DS#2 Chat was wearing a Scooby Doo shirt with palm trees on it and we came upon Wes Palm when entering AK. Of course, it found him! It started sprinkling water all over him. He is never to be outdone. He took is misting fan and drenched the poor guy! He stopped picking on him and told him to go back to Universal.
EJ, was going to compliment you on the parrots picture but I read that you’re better half took it...
Kendra! I it!

By the time we got back to Harambe village, we decided to do a little shopping at Mombasa Marketplace. There were some folks out there ‘drumming’ up a little business.
Quote:
We stopped for the popcorn in the souvenir buckets and a Mickey bar for me (finally).
Took you long enough!
Another great update! It's so much fun visiting Disney with you guys!
Great update!!
I loved reading about the Dolphin Encounter. I'm considering it for my January cruise!
WRITE MORE PLEASE!
OK! Some more is coming up!

I know we got one set from Body Glove..
I also could not find my photos of the Beach Blanket Buffet, but they were finally approved for the photo section:
They put on a really big show when they bring it out, but it is kind of a let-down.
I would have to agree with you here. They seem to try and go all out like Rainforest Café does for their volcano. Problem is, at the luau, the volcano never makes it to your table – only the dessert on plates. This should be updated!

(did I mention my raincloude was still functioning?).
Would you please turn off that raincloud?!
Quote:
I would not go out of my way to see it again
it didn’t win you over! I think the luau is one of the hardest things to recommend. Either you love it or you hate it. My Dfamily it.
Wow! LOVED the dolphin encounter!! NOW THAT is one I would probably do!! I love dolphins, but the whole swim with them thing freaks me out a little bit (I almost drowned as a kid and I get a bit nervous in open water). That encounter looks awesome!! Sounds like you had a great day! And no hijacking by pirates! (Or did you stop at Starbucks?)
I was able to present Princess Danielle and Autumn and Kendra with the tiaras that I got at Bou-tiki at the Poly. I think this was when Kendra really caught the magic
So very of you! You do laundry...you let your Dfamily sleep in...you give magical surprises! No wonder your DW is soaking in the magic!

and Tom probably decided we (passporters) are all totally insane
Exactly how my DH feels!

If it were not for the magic of Passporter and Disney as well as the incredible invention of the internet, we would have not been able to afford the luxury of this cruise and pleasure of this great family! It was an once-in-a-lifetime treat!
What magic the passporters and the boards bring!

Again, after much laughing , we finally got to bed that night !

Caught up again! (More slow nights at work! ) We did a dolphin encounter at Freeport, and it was the same thing...the staff was not too friendly there, either! Love the pictures!
Episode 8: Wed. 7/16/08 - Morning. A Breakfast With Best Friends.

We finally said Aloha to our 'Ohana friends and headed out to Epcot.
Everyone looks so happy in the pictures! Looks like a great start to your day!

When we got to Epcot, guess what? It WASN’T raining!
I guess Danielle’s magic rubbed off for awhile!
Quote:
While in line, I saw this guy’s shirt. I wonder why I never see any gals with intriguing shirts?
Chat wears these shirts all the time. He loves people reading them and making comments! Some of them are not nice!
Quote:
Wouldn’t you know, Off Kilter was performing?
Oh, one of our favorite things in Epcot. DH their music and has all the CDs. (He even checks for a new one every trip.) So I never have to pull his arm to stop!
Love the dolphin photos EJ. Looks like a great way to spend a day. Can't wait to hear more of your adventures.
Thanks! It was fun. It is a good thing to do once in your life..

I think the raincloud had a lot to do with it. I am sure it is MUCH more fun at other times. Also, it was the the very first show of their workweek, so they may not have been at 100%.

Thanks, Karen. It is pretty neat, even though you are out of the Disney bubble for a while. This encounter is different from a swim, as you stand on a platform and the dolphin comes to you. Believe me, we beat feet past the hawkers. etc.

Yes, finally the sun was shining, though we had to leave the country!

Thanks, Sue! Surly staff just makes you appreciate Disney all the more when you return to the ship!

That day was fun, too! My DW got one of the Epcot CDs, and plays it sometimes.
