First Ever Disneyland Trip Updated 10/13 - Page 18 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sounds like a nice tour and you'd get to see some interesting locations like Walt's apartment and Club 33 Lobby.
Glad you got everything worked out at Target. I hate when you get home from the store and find that they overcharged you for something. What I have been experiencing a lot lately is not all of my bags making it home with me from the store. Just the other day I was checking out at Walmart and I asked the cashier (as I always do) if I had all my bags. I saw her look at the bag carousel and she told me yes, I had all my bags. Of course, I get home and realize one of the bags wasn't there. This has happened several times. I am now committed to checking the bag carousel myself and not relying on the cashier to make sure I have all my bags. It just really irks me that I paid money for things that end up remaining at the store because the cashier never gave me the bag. Okay, rant over
I forgot a bag once at Target, but that had it at customer service when I returned. Of course, I still had to go back to get it. It just seems that good policy is making sure your customers leave satisfied, which would include having everything you purchased.

And you had problems with a Disney website? How unusual. Yeah, I couldn't even type that with a straight face!
I took the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour many years ago and loved it! If you can fit it in, I definitely recommend it. I know it's changed some since I took it, but for the better, in my opinion.
I'm still working on Luke for the tour, but he does seem to like the idea. The guy writing about the tour on Touring Plans mentioned that he had always like this tour, but that it had become even better.

We'll definitely have a dance or two here to celebrate when I get those ADRs.

I have read wonderful things about that tour! Good luck deciding! I love reading your planning details!
I really think it would be a fun and well-spent 3 1/2 hours.

I'll be checking mine in the parking lot now, too.
I have a daily ritual now. Head to my laptop and check on dining package ADRs. No problems with the website today, but still no happy dancing or screams. We’ve had a pretty busy day with some yardwork after our 4-mile walk. I’m loving our fall-like weather as I’m not so sweaty when we get home. We have a weeping willow that is around 12 years old and is quite large that provides shade for our front porch and the front bedrooms. But we don’t like it dragging the ground as that blocks the view of and from our house. Stefanie used to alert Luke to when the tree needed in her words a haircut. When we walked under the tree today, Luke mentioned that we’d need to trim it when we got back home. So while Luke uses the shrubber to cut it, I use the leaf rake to make piles. Then we work together to bag up all the trimmings. Today was a pleasant day for this kind of task. Afterwards, I had a bit of housework, and then spend an hour and half working on our May 2015 scrapbook. All that is to say I didn’t end up having enough time to complete the Disneyland task I had set for myself today – making a list of potential counter service places for our breakfast and/or lunches each day. I’ve made a start, but I’m not finished by any means. Hopefully, I’ll get that completed tomorrow for my update. While I was looking over the CS restaurants on Touring Plans, I discovered they had forums like we do at PassPorter. These are nowhere as user friendly as PP, but I did find a thread about the making of WoC and Fantasmic dining packages there. The OP sounded like me and was asking for advice. A couple of folks told him to call. He posted later that he had called and was told later this week. I rolled my eyes as I had gotten the same response a whole week earlier. I’m sure it will finally be by the end of some week.

Great jobs on all those miles you guys have walked! That tour sounds really neat. I keep waiting for you to post that you got your ADR for Club 33. Since you are looking at CS places now, I highly recommend Paradise Garden Grill. I think today is the day for success on those last ADR's.
Please send some of the weather our way. I love doing yard work but the humidity is so bad her in the south, yard work is out of the question. I know your dilemma, I am still checking every day to see if there might be an opening for H&V but nothing. This is the first year for the new Minnie Christmas package there, but it looks like this year will not be good for us unless a cancellation comes up while we are there. So I'm sending good luck your way
AARRRGGHHH for the lack of dining packages!!! I know what you mean about the cooler weather. It has been quite pleasant here as well for a few days. I'm flying to Omaha to see DD on Monday and really looking forward to the temps there next week.

Unfortunately, today was not the day.

We've had a really humid summer here, too, with heat indexes over a 100 for weeks, so this weather has been a pleasant break, and we're using it to catch up. Sorry none of the milder weather has come your way.

You will be having some nice temps. Ours are supposed to hang around through next week, so that makes me happy.
