Me, Muffin, Katie, Megan, the Adlers and Various Resorts!, - Page 18 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Quite a lot packed in with so many great animal photos from KS and Gorilla Falls. The first few gorilla photos looked like they were trying to hide from your camera behind the brush! Too bad you didn't get to experience Tiffin's but the Nomad Lounge is a good place with great drinks. Nice going with two great shows with FOTLK and ROL which you finally got to experience.

Love your AK day! Great photos on the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail, especially of the gorillas. The little ones are just so cute. Then the safari with some great animal sightings. Every time we see FotLK, I think I'll put the camera up. I've not been successful yet. So nice that you could switch out Tiffins for Nomad Lounge and still see ROL with FastPasses.

Thanks, Cam!! IT was an awesome day in my favorite park!!
When we got up this morning, Adrienne and I went for our morning walk and stopped at the Boardwalk Bakery for coffee:
Then everyone got ready and we headed over to Trattoria al Forno for breakfast with Rapunzel, Flynn Rider, Ariel and Eric!! I am so glad we found a way to squish this breakfast into our plans because it was so much fun!!
This restaurant is beautiful! When we arrived, it was packed already and our ADR was for 7:55 AM!! The hostess took my name and, honestly, was not very nice. She insisted that we had only made an ADR for three people and I pulled out my MDE app and showed her that it was indeed for four. She still acted like she was doing me a favor by allowing us to dine here and told me to wait to be called. This was such a stark contrast to the incredibly wonderful behavior of just about all of the other CM’s that we dealt with, that it really stood out.
Regardless, we found some chairs and waited. In about 10 minutes, another CM kept calling for a name that started with the letters Mc, but was not us. Interesting.y, she was calling for a party of three. I had a feeling that this was the original problem and went back up to the hostess and politely inquired as to whether she had mixed up our parties. She admitted that she had, but was not apologetic and brushed us off to the CM doing the seating. Jeesh! We all make mistakes, lady!
After that, we really did have a wonderful time and a great breakfast!! Everyone else was back to normal and couldn’t do enough for us!!
We were first served a cast iron pan full of creative pastries:
They were all, of course, Tangled and Little Mermaid related and they were delicious!
We were also given coffee and juice and then we ordered from the menu. Muffin ordered scrambled eggs with salmon and potatoes:
Dave got the Royale Breakfast:
Oak-grilled Steak, Cheesy-Egg Torte, and Fonduta with Breakfast Potatoes and crispy Onions
I got Tangled Eggs:
Fresh Mozzarella, Tomato-Basil Eggs, Sunday Gravy, and Breakfast Potatoes with Bacon or Sausage
And Adrienne got Two-Eggs Poached Underwater:
House-made Fennel Sausage, Sunday Gravy, and Parmesan Cheese over Golden Polenta with Toasted Focaccia
Everything was so good and we had a ball with the characters as well:
After our delightful breakfast, we goofed around on the Boardwalk and then we stopped back at our rooms to grab stuff for today. Muffin went to open up the safe and it wouldn’t work..........we didn’t get excited and tried it again but it still would not open. We tried one more time and this time, not only did it not open, it locked us out!! We called security and they came right up. The CM tried a special key and nothing happened. Then she tried a bypass code and that did not work either. She wound up having to get the manager and both were. Dry apologetic but said that they would have to call someone to drill the safe. They also said that we needed to be in the room because we had cash in the safe.
The manager told us to go to the park this morning and then call when we got back and they would send someone up to drill. So! We caught a Lyft to MK. There was nothing we could do in the meantime and we were both surprisingly pretty calm about the issue.
We had another beautiful morning!
We strolled down Main Street:
We made our way through Liberty Square:
To our first FP+ for IASW:
We the. Headed to our next FP+ for POTC:
Next, we had a visit with the Tiki Birds:
Next, we made our way towards our last FP+ for today and the Jingle Cruise!
We all wanted to go back for a swim and Muffin and I had to have our safe drilled, plus we knew we’d be back tomorrow night, so we headed out of the park.
When we got back to the Boardwalk, we immediately called security and they came up right away. Muffin said it would be silly for us both to wait and that I should go to the pool, so I did! It really didn’t take very long and I think Muffin joined us within a half an hour. I will tell you that from here on in, we did not put anything in the safe. : We did miss our beverage seminar at Epcot, but we were reimbursed in full for that, which was really nice. We know stuff happens and we really didn’t ask for anything.
We enjoyed the pool so much today and all got drinks at the bar as well:
Then Adrienne decided that she wanted to go in the pool, so I went in with her. Then she decided that she wanted to try the clown slide. She isn’t a great swimmer but was reassured that the water was not very deep where you came out. I agreed to go with her and in fact, I went first.
When Adrienne came down the slide, she did fine until she hit the water. Then she panicked and couldn’t catch her breath. The worst part was I was the only one who saw it. The lifeguard was looking the other way. So! I helped her to the side and once she caught her breath, she was truly fine. However, first one lifeguard came over to talk with her. Then she brought her superior with her. Again, Adrienne asked for nothing and said she was fine. Remember this.
We decided we were pushing our luck today, though, so we gathered our stuff together and headed upstairs to get ready for our evening right here on the Boardwalk!!
Next: Abracadabar, the Flying Fish Cafe and a surrey ride from H-E-double toothpicks! [
Great pictures from the trail and safari, my favourite is the meerkats, they are so cute. I really enjoyed ROL, it was a well done show, and it is so enjoyable to walk around the park at night.
Sorry you had issues with the safe, but glad that Disney was so helpful.
Ok, I'm a bit worried now about what might happen after the clown slide incident. Anyway, you've made me so happy that I managed to get breakfast booked at Trattoria al Forno - it sounds like a great experience... well except for Miss Misery at check in anyway.
Ugh, what a nightmare with the safe - I hope that all works out.
What a yummy looking breakfast, and so cool to meet some new characters!
That's crazy about the safe! :jaw drop:
And your teaser for the next update doesn't sound good at all! :
