As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: DisneyWHAT?? - oh, DisneyLAND - 3/16-20 - Day 4/part 2 - Updated 6/7
<font color="blue"> After the HCOE ceremony, we left the park and walked through Downtown Disney and over to the hotel. Bob caught Calder and his "altered" shadow...
Wow -- this hotel is pretty far away! But it's a very Disney hotel and quite attractive. Calder and Zack posed for Bob at this Goofy statue.
Karen put our names in and we sat down to wait. We waited quite a bit -- with no one else in the lobby -- and eventually we headed into the gift shop. I puttered around in here for a while and still our names hadn't been called. I rejoined Karen and Bob who were having a serious baseball discussion of their respective teams - the Cubs and the Giants.
After a 30 minute wait for our PS, Karen approached the kiosk again, only to find that we'd basically been forgotten about. Well, what did you think we were doing, sitting on those benches right outside the restaurant? Didn't you think you might want to check that we weren't waiting for a table?!
Anyway, we were quickly led to our spot and told that our waitress would be right over. About ten minutes later, she finally arrived to take our drink orders. We got up to pile our plates high with yummy eggs, breads, fruit and other So-Cal treats. Halfway through our meal, our waitress brought our drinks... but forgot the coffee. That took another 10 minutes.
At one point, Calder tells me to put out my hand and, like a maroooon, I do. He drops into it a slimy, pulpy, little hard, white thing. I must've given it an odd look, because he announced that it was his tooth!! It came out when he bit into his breakfast... Oh, jeez... well, thanks. (I had a momentary panic of how to contact the tooth fairy, but Karen assured me that Tinker Bell would know all about it and take care of it for us. Wow - that's SOME magic.) Bob documented it, but you'll have to click here if you really want to see it... yech.
The characters came by and we had spectacular interactions with them....
[The hat fell off Stitch's head, hit the fork you see on the plate and sent it flying off to a neighboring table!]
[I think the sugar of 5 waffles just hit him!]
Our interaction withPluto was simply hysterical.
He was hanging out with us and being such a "pal" that I finally suggested that he join us for our day of touring. He mimes, "where are you going?" We told him that we were going to Disneyland for the rest of the day. Then he mimed something else... he pointed, walked in place and pointed again. I asked him if he needed to go for a walk... He smacked his forehead and shook his head vigorously. (Apparently Disney dogs don't doo-doo.)
He points, walks and points again. Karen makes a guess that he's got somewhere to go. He nods and she goes on to suggest that he needs to go home.
Well, that's another "no."
The kids joined in and made lots of crazy guesses as to where Pluto needed to go.
Finally, the poor dog was so frustrated with our inability to guess what he was saying that he flopped down onto the floor and banged his paws against the carpet.
I tell ya, we were unable to figure this one out (but keep this in mind, 'cause it figures into our trip home.)
Minnie came into the room in a fetching red sarong and I swooned. No kidding... She did a little song and dance with the kiddies (oh, to be a kiddie again!) before going around the room for signatures and pictures.
[What do you want to guess that Karen is saying something naughty to Miss Minnie?!]
While the boys were distracted with a character, Karen hooked Lilo into a little sidebar. Our little tropical friend turned back to the boys and gave them a card telling them to search the room for something just for them.
Well, those boys were on that task like white on rice. They dashed here, they dug there! Finally, Zack located it -- a treasure "map" of silly rhymes...
They were all for heading out RIGHT AWAY!
When it came time to settle the bill, the manager upped Karen's AP discount to 20% to make up for the long wait we had. (It wasn't enough to mitigate the long wait and the dehydration we suffered from our slow waitress, but it was something.)
We headed back through DtD to DLR and the hunt was on.
[Up Next: See if you can figure out the clues...]

Re: DisneyWHAT?? - oh, DisneyLAND - 3/16-20 - Day 4/part 2 - the first 4 clues
<font color="blue"> Here are the first 4 clues of the treasure hunt (Karen supplied the hunt and I supplied the rhymes... but forgive me, it was practically midnight the night before our flight and I wasn't on top of my game!)
Mr. Disney was loved by kids of all ages
He built them this place and improved it by stages
As a tribute to him, this lamp burns all night
And warms up our hearts at the sight of its light.
The Main Street is known for its music and grace
Sounds of laughter and joy seem to fill the place
But what do I hear from the room up the stairs?
Be glad that you're not in that mean dentist's chair.
Near where Dole Whips are stuck with spoons
The birds sing words and the flowers croon
Don't wrestle with Tongaroa's wrath
Or he'll make the skies give you a bath.
The year was 1935
When Indy parked this truck
Please seek its tracks upon the ground
To find them you'll need luck.

Re: DisneyWHAT?? - oh, DisneyLAND - 3/16-20 - Day 4/part 2 - the first 4 clues
I'll post MY version of the morning later, (ahem) but for now, here's the first four answers to the clues. Did you figure them out on your own?
Mr. Disney was loved by kids of all ages
He built them this place and improved it by stages
As a tribute to him, this lamp burns all night
And warms up our hearts at the sight of its light.
It's the lamp that burns for Walt in the window of Main Street, of course!
The Main Street is known for its music and grace
Sounds of laughter and joy seem to fill the place
But what do I hear from the room up the stairs?
Be glad that you're not in that mean dentist's chair.
This is on one of the side alleys to Main Street. You can hear the sounds of someone getting ready in the hotel, a VERY frustrated piano teacher, and of course the dentist.
Near where Dole Whips are stuck with spoons
The birds sing words and the flowers croon
Don't wrestle with Tongaroa's wrath
Or he'll make the skies give you a bath.
The original Tiki Room! The pre-show at Disneyland includes some very low-tech animatronics from the trees in the courtyard, and an introduction to the various Tiki gods.
The year was 1935
When Indy parked this truck
Please seek its tracks upon the ground
To find them you'll need luck.
Gotta love Disney details! This truck is the one used in the movie, and there's track marks "left" in the cement from when the truck was parked. Hope you can see them!

Great updates guys - it looks like you had an awesome time at breakfast! I won't give too much away, but reading your report, you won't believe some of the similar experiences we had to you - I was reading it thinking "that's exactly what happened to us". Re: DisneyWHAT?? - oh, DisneyLAND - 3/16-20 - Day 4/part 2 - the NEXT 4 clues
<font color="blue"> Here are the next set of clues for the treasure hunt. Karen will post the picture "answers" soon...
Think you that Belle and Jane are friends?
It seems to be the case.
A "mother pot" and chip do dwell
where Terk has trashed the place
Getting in this place is hard to do --
just slightly less than heaven's gate.
Although it says Club 33,
you'll need $50k and 3 decades wait.
The grim grinning ghosts are all full of chuckles
'tho they thunk their last thoughts with heads made of knuckles.
Find a tombstone that makes you boys laugh right out loud
and take a good photo that'll make the ghouls proud.
How can a girl wrap a petrified tree?
The gift wrapping experts can't even agree!
Yet Old Uncle Walt had found one, you see,
that Lillian gifted to our "Mr. D."

Re: DisneyWHAT?? - oh, DisneyLAND - 3/16-20 - Day 4/part 2 - the NEXT 4 clues
What? No Guesses? Well, I'll just post the next set of answers then.
Think you that Belle and Jane are friends?
It seems to be the case.
A "mother pot" and chip do dwell
where Terk has trashed the place
This one was pretty hard. At the base of Tarzan's treehouse they have a little "trashing the camp" set-up, with lots of noise makers for the kids. On one of the shelves, there's a teapot and cup that look just like Mrs. Pott's and son.
Getting in this place is hard to do --
just slightly less than heaven's gate.
Although it says Club 33,
you'll need $50k and 3 decades wait.
I'm sure all you Disney fans knew about this one. The door to the VERY exclusive, Club 33.
The grim grinning ghosts are full of chuckles
'tho they thunk their last thoughts with heads made of knuckles.
Find a tombstone that makes you laugh right out loud
and take a good photo that'll make the ghouls proud.
The line to get into Haunted Mansion was really long this day, so the boys went to some of the lesser known tombstones behind HM.
How can a girl wrap a petrified tree?
The gift wrapping experts can't even agree!
Yet Old Uncle Walt had found one, you see,
that Lillian gifted to our "Mr. D."
The tree that was the anniversary gift from Lillian to Walt.
Hope you enjoyed!
