As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

What an amazing day you had as so much of it! Old Faithful must have been quite the experience and love the photos! It's just a matter of waiting for the geyser to show its' beauty! I hope you didn't have to wait too long!
Your resort and room are very nice. The bath is quite nice but seems like it could use some updating!
Spending time before dinner in the lounge with wine and a nice charcuterie/cheese platter with amazing views outside and an elk sighting is a great time before dinner! How can you beat that!
Dinner itself looked very good overall as both of your choices, I'd be all over! Halibut may be my favorite fish and had a great one recently at Dock's in AC and have had a good one or two at the Cali. I've had Elk at least one previous time on my first WDW trip in 2002 at Artists Point. I had the smoky portobello mushroom soup they are known for as amazing. Had a combo game entree with elk, venison and bison. All very good and had an add on with a piece of the grilled salmon on the cedar plank. Was a great meal and my best there with about 3-4 meals there.

Dinner looked fantastic (and what a relief to know yours wasn’t so fresh that you saw it wandering by before it ended up on the plate!).
And the hotel is gorgeous! Nice to come back to some luxury after a day of hiking.
Wow, that was quite the crowd by Old Faithful, but I'm not surprised, given its reputation. We were there in September, probably a week or so off parts of the park starting to close up, so it was lovely and quiet.
Your hotel looks wonderful and I'm glad you were able to get your dinner at a reasonable hour, not the 9:00pm they originally said! Beautiful photos from your after dinner walk.

Thanks, Dave!! The resort was amzing!! We actually loved the bathroom. It was charming and added to the rustic look!! Our meal was delicious and your Artist Point meal sounds wonderful as well!!

It's funny, that was the only place in the Park that was crowded.
Our hotel was amazing and we were so relieved to eat at a reasonable time!! Those photos don't do justice to the scenery!! :

Today we were up at 6:00 AM once again and went to the dining room for a delicious buffet breakfast. We were ready to hit the road by 8:00 and were at our first stop at Yellowstone for the day by 8:10.
We explored some more of this gorgeous Park:
And continued to be amazed at how hot springs popped up randomly:

Our waitress at breakfast had told us that we just had to head a little north to see bison and sure enough, she was right!! Our first spotting was of this guy. When I saw the first one, I was so excited, I couldn't speak ( and you guys know that takes a lot!)!!! Muffin says I said something like BBBB-Buffalo!! Also, when I got out of the car to take a picture, I put my favorite Mickey Mouse reading glasses on my head and I believe there is a Bison somewhere in Yellowstone that can read much clearer now. Anyway! Enjoy my new friends!!
We then continued on the road and found lots more Bison. I was a little taken aback to see them either solo or just two together. I expected them to be like cows I guess and travel in a herd.
This guy was just walking down the middle of the road blocking traffic for about 15 minutes, taking his good old time!
And this guy tried to eat Muffin!! We saw him from a little ways back as we were slowly driving along just walking on the side of the road. About 100 yards in front of him was a pull off so Muffin thought we should get some photos as he walked by. When the bison got about 20 feet behind the car, he just stopped and stood there making very weird noises. Then he and Muffin had a staring contest for about 5 minutes. I really think he was angry because we were in his way!
We couldn't get over how the hot springs were just everywhere too! And we loved the bison. I was hoping to see one and was delighted to see so many. Isn't it the weirdest thing when they're just strolling down the road? I noticed in one of your photos that there's a biker right by one of them. I don't think I'd have liked to have been him!
