Fall, Firsts, Food And The Final Frontier-WDW PTR - UPDATED 10/9 - Page 17 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm looking forward to the show and glad I booked the dessert party!

Oh my goodness, what a shame you weren't able to get an ADR at the time you wanted for the California Grill brunch, because I cannot begin to tell you how amazing our experience was there.
Congrats on getting Flying Fish and La Nouba. You've definitely been doing some tweaking and fine tuning of the plans. Great work! Luke and I loved the Star Wars: Galactic Fireworks. We actually viewed them from right behind the dessert party viewing area and it was fabulous. Have fun at that!

I waited a bit long on that one! There is just so many new things to choose from in WDW since I was there last in 2014, which is crazy, but so good! Where do you begin and tough to leave things out! I plan to return next year as so much more to experience as the Cali will be one, The Boathouse, Trattoria al Forno, ROL and others...
This year will be my 12th trip to WDW and the only year I haven't dined at the Cali, so that's saying something about how much I love the place even with the cost as so worth it and being with a completely different and unforgettable experience by you!

I was quite happy with it as it sounds like almost a given with the reviews here!

I've been quite at work on this, since you've been at WDW! I'm quite happy with my plans overall as it wasn't easy to squeeze the Star Wars show/dessert party in. I was worried about not getting the dessert part or finding an ADR like I did for Mama Melrose's. I hope I enjoy MM's as that will be another first, as in my title!
Great to hear of another fabulous experience with the Star Wars show as I've heard so many here! Looks like you and Luke picked the best place to see the show!

I can thoroughly recommend Trattoria al Forno and we really enjoyed our lunch at the Boathouse as well. Hopefully by next year, Rivers of Light will be up and running... goodness only knows!

You sound just like us - we very rarely go to Disney and don't dine at the Cali Grill!

Thursday, September 15th Today my Fastpass+ window finally opened up! As I’m staying in the Disney Springs area I can only make these in 30 days and not 60 days as Disney resort guests and only on a day to day basis at 30 days. One of the drawbacks of not staying at a Disney resort, but I did save quite a bit on the hotel!
I did make all of these day by day FP+ reservations from September 15th-22nd and got pretty much all I wanted with a couple of exceptions and I’m sure you have a pretty good idea, which ones those are. If you guessed Frozen Ever After and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, you are correct! I’ve tried over the past few weeks and still nothing on these two. I may try 7DMT at park opening on one of my days in the MK. These reservations all seemed to work well as I booked them as it just takes a bit of going back and modifying them to work the times in better.
So here we go……
My Fastpass+ Reservations
Saturday, October 15th -Hollywood Studios (Arrival Day, so a bit later on these). Toy Story Mania 12:55-1:55 Star Tours 1:55-2:55 Tower of Terror 2:55-3:55
Sunday, October 16th -Magic Kingdom Haunted Mansion 9:35-10:35 Space Mountain 10:35-11:35 Splash Mountain 11:35-12:35
After Splash Mountain, I will probably have a small lunch and possibly another attraction or two. Then I will walk to the Contemporary and take the bus to the Animal Kingdom. This is why there won’t be any FPs for the AK. Once the window om my original three FP+s ends, I will try to make a fourth FP+ Kilimanjaro Safari. I’m anticipating something quite unique for my first nighttime experience in the Animal Kingdom. Just too bad that I won’t be able to see Rivers of Light!
Monday, October 17th -Epcot Soarin’ 9:05-10:05 Mission Space 10:05-11:05 Spaceship Earth 2:25-3:25
I will be going to World Showcase for the Food & Wine Festival, shortly after Mission Space for opening. I will spend a few hours here, taking in a few booths and a seminar at 2 pm. Once that concludes I will return to Future World for my last FP+. I also plan on taking in some of the festival booths in FW as well.
Tuesday, October 18th -Magic Kingdom Under The Sea: JOTLM 9:50-10:50 Jungle Cruise 10:50-11:50 Space Mountain 1:10-2:10
Journey of the Little Mermaid will be a new first for me. On my last trip in April, 2014 the lines were too long, so I skipped it. Hope I enjoy this one. There is a gap between FPs two and three as I will be having lunch at Skipper’s Canteen for the first time and looking forward to it. I will probably return to my hotel around 3 pm as my dinner at Victoria & Albert’s is at 6 pm.
Wednesday, October 19th -Epcot Disney and Pixar Films 9:00-10:00 Test Track 10:25-11:25 Mission Space 5:20-6:20
Another gap with my Food & Wine Festival activities. I’m also not a fan of the tier FPs in Epcot as there isn’t as much to choose from to begin with. That’s why for the repeat of Mission Space. I have a seminar at 4 pm and ends at 5:15 pm, so I’ll have time to return to Future World.
Thursday, October 20th No Fastpass+ reservations today as I will be spending the entire day at the Kennedy Space Center. I won’t be back until about 7 pm. After returning to my hotel, I will be in Disney Springs for dinner.
Friday, October 21st -Hollywood Studios The Great Movie Ride 11:55-12:55 Tower of Terror 1:10-2:10 Indiana Jones Show 4:45 and arrive 4:15-4:35
I have a spa treatment at the B Resort at 9 am and will be finished by around 10:30 am by the time I tie up things there. I’ll return to my room and do a bit of packing as this is my last full day in WDW. I will also have to call Mears Transportation for my shuttle to the airport tomorrow. I may do my packing after Studios, depending on time constraints as I would like to arrive in the park by 12:15, so we’ll see. It will be a good 8+ hour day here with the Star Wars show at conclusion and an ADR in midafternoon at Mama Melrose’s.
Saturday, October 22nd -Epcot Spaceship Earth 9:10-10:10 Soarin’ 10:10-11:10 Living With The Land 11:15-12:15
I chose Epcot on departure day for the third time on this trip as I want a good meal to end my trip and I always want park time on that day as well. It wouldn’t be the same just going to Disney Springs and having a good meal there. My ADR at Chefs de France is for 12:10 pm.
NEXT: Final ADRs and Another Change!

Your fastpass plans sound terrific!! I love your plans for your last day as well. We feel the same about spending our last day at a park!! You are going to have a ball!!

Glad you like my FP+ ressies and quite happy with them! Just wish I could get 7DMT and FEA, but no luck still!
A PP here I was talking to one year knew how much I loved WDW and I told her on my last day I usually take a late morning or early afternoon flight home. She suggested or insisted (that was it) that I should make the most of my trip and enjoy the parks on my last day and if I could take in a great meal!
This was in 2009 and I listened to her and could not believe I never did this before. Now it's a guarantee and a late flight home, but as long as I don't have to work the next day. This will be, I think my fourth straight WDW trip doing this and certainly the way to go!
Thanks PP "Wendyismyname" and giving me a good sense of reality several years ago! I will not turn back now!
