Sunshine, Freedom, and a Flower: A Cam and Luke PTR Updated 5/19 - Page 17 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

on trying to get a dining package for River of Lights.
I'm assuming that the Disney minifigs will be sold just as the previous series of minifigs have been sold, in a blind bag. I've done a good job of feeling what is inside the bag to find the ones that I want.
Groot is my favorite (SO reminds me of what an outer space Ent would be like) with Drax running a close second, because of his eloquence.
Good luck getting Tiffins and Rivers of Light.
Groot is mine and Luke's favorite, too. I even got him the Pop Groot for Christmas. So cute!

I'm not surprised at all that you'd want the Peter Pan!

I checked today and nothing was to be found on the RoL dining package. Now I've heard tomorrow. Got to love rumors.
I had heard the same about the Rivers of Light packages. I will be up at the crack of dawn! I al was talking to Tim about the Lego minifigures as we would like all of them as well. It will be interesting to see how they are sold.
Here's hoping we both luck out tomorrow on RoL! and

Me, too! Though I really love all our current ADRs, but I'd like to be sure we get a good spot for the Rivers of Light, too.
Great ADRs and FP selections.
Glad you got your APs back!
Good luck with Rivers of Light and Tiffins. I can't wait to see how this is going to be!!!
Luke has been showing me new photos every morning that someone is posting of the new light effects on the Tree of Life. I can't wait to see all the new nighttime stuff at AK!

That's what we'd figured. Now I'm wishing you were coming with us so you could feel the bags and let us know what we're getting.

Rainy days are perfect for movies...I should probably start checking out more about Tiffins, I'll be there a few days before you. I'm surprised it doesn't seem like they're going to have the packages available for your dates.

Tiffins may not be open until summer, and if so, that's fine, we'll try for our October trip.

The 11th my sister and niece will be with us, so our plans may be a bit more fluid. Pam enjoys meeting PPers so as I get a better grip on plans that day, I'll let you know. I hope you love AKL!
Our weather has been on a roller coaster ride since the beginning of March, but somehow Luke and I have managed to walk a minimum of 3.2 miles/5 kilometers most days. A few rainy days never had a gap in the rain to permit us getting out. Stefanie would always say that her mom and dad were practicing for Disney. She wasn’t far from right. We do walk mainly for our health, but walking definitely gets us ready for a Disney vacation. For the month of March we walked a total of 80.04 miles. I’m hoping for 90 miles by the end of April. During today’s walk we battled 25+ mph winds the entire time with a few much strong wind gusts. The high was only in the upper 50s so the wind chill was a factor as well. At 3 miles Luke asked how much further I wanted to go. My reply was “I want to go home. I’m tired of fighting the wind.” We still had a quarter of a mile before we were back inside though.
Yesterday after our walk on the farthest section of our city’s Greenbelt from our home, we stopped in at Menard’s to pick up a few things and to check out the tree selections. We had planted two small tulip poplars last year a few weeks before our May Disney trip. These were wee little trees that unfortunately did not survive the summer. We really wanted to replace these with some sturdier young trees. None were available yet at Menard’s, so Luke asked if I’d mind going to Rural King. Here the selection was much more comprehensive and the trees were already a fair size. We pulled out the tallest two tulip poplars and then we also saw some Jane Magnolia trees. Luke has wanted a miniature magnolia for some time now to put in the same area as our white Dogwood that his family purchased for us on the anniversary of Stefanie’s passing. So that went in the cart as well. We got to the entrance to the store and the trees were too tall to enter safely. Luke headed inside with the sales tags and soon our trees were loaded up. At home Luke began the process of planting all three while I picked up limbs from our weeping willow in the front yard that had succumbed to the mild wind we had yesterday. You’d never know I’d cleaned up as the yard is even more covered in branches after the high winds today. That’ll be a job for Monday.

We do love our trees. There is a whole evergreen forest in the back that we've planted over the years.
On a Disney note: Both Luke and I checked Disney World’s website for potential Rivers of Light dinner packages. Nada. Nil. Nothing. Zip. Zero.
Your garden's looking great! Great work on the walking - 80 miles, my goodness! However, I never add up how much I swim in a month and I bet that would add up to something. Maybe I should do that... hmmmm.....

I love all your trees especially the Jane Magnolia!!! You and Luke really have a green thumb and your home is decorated so beautifully inside and out Great job on all your walking!!! My DH and I have been trying to get out more with the winter months behind us but the winds in New Jersey have been incredible in the past 24 hours. I believe we're getting up to 50 MPH gusts right now so no walking for us today! It is great practice for Disney vacations besides doing it for health reasons.
