Another August Adventure with a shot of Testosterone...TR Completed 2/19 - Page 17 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

What a beautiful night! We play that game too but we call it Scat. (We play for quarters). The food at Rose and Crown looked really good. That is one we haven't tried yet!
What a great day! Wandering WS always puts me in the best mood, and I always have the same reaction to Illuminations that you do. The MM photos are wonderful, and I love the ones you did of the sunset!

I'm glad Angel was able to enjoy the fish & chips! Yours and Jasmine's pictures of the sunset are just stunning. Nice pictures of Jasmine and Hugo. Angel is developing that sly, almost smile of her sister in a couple of shots there. I may give in and declare Illuminations as fav over Wishes, it is so much more than a fireworks show.
What an enjoyable evening! Dinner sounded delicious! Everyone looks so happy!
Loved all the sunset pics!
I cannot wait to see Illuminations! It is on my Must Do since we have never seen it!

Wow! I didn't realize that this turned into your TR! Sorry I'm late! Your trip has been fantastic so far! I'm really enjoying hearing about your adventures and can't wait to hear more...thanks for sharing!
Nice ending to your Epcot day! The caramel shop is delicious even if all you do is smell the goodies. Illuminations is my favorite, too. I can't help crying every time. it!
Another fantabulous afternoon and evening as WS is particularly beautiful in the evening. Love all the pics....yours and Jasmines as well as the Photopass "shoots". . I am amazed you could walk into to Karmel Kuche and not purchase....those salted caramels get me every time! Love, love, love that Angel is now enjoying her fish and chips; it is always an awesome feeling when our allergy kiddos find a new food group they can tolerate.
Danielle

All caught up finally! You are getting so much done and having a great time. Loving all the pictures, but especially the ones from today. You did good with no PHs, so I hope it works for us too.
I am finally all caught up on your TR! Sounds like you guys are having a wonderful time. I love how into the trip all the kids are getting, but especially the boys! Glad they are loving to Disney Magic too.
I fell behind but am all caught up now! I am loving your TR and especially love seeing Leeor's and Hugo's reactions to everything. What a great time you all are having! Jasmine and Leeor are too cute together and it's so nice for them both to have their good friend Hugo along.
Each of your TR's shows the progression of how much Angel is growing!! I have a 13 year old as well and I keep trying to make her stop growing but so far I've been unsuccessful
Beautiful pictures of the sunset over Epcot and I also LOVED the photo of the lion sleeping on safari that Jasmine took!! Awesome photo!!

I'm loving your TR. I thought we get a lot done every day, but you beat me by far. How do you have time for everything? Thanks for sharing. I want to go to Disney with you
Wow, that was a stunning sky! I'm so glad Angel can now eat some fish and that she enjoyed what she had.
I just love the colors, I am not a morning person so I leave the sunrise pictures to Jasmine but sunset, I definitely enjoy
Eating Fish and Chips was a highlight for Angel.

We have had Louis take our picture several times as well. Such a nice man! But it's funny that both times we had issues. The first time, after a wonderful photo shoot of my DDs and me, he inadvertantly kept our PP card and we didn't realize it until the next day. Luckily, the photo center was able to retrieve all our pictures. The second time...the following year, Louis took some romantic pics of DH and I and they never showed up on our account. I had PP do a search when we returned home, but no luck! I was very disappointed.
He really is such a nice man, such as shame that they were not able to find your pictures . We had one issue once with some of the pictures he took, they did not show up in our account but luckily they were able to find them, the other times I guess we lucked out as his photos are usually some of our favorites.

For the most part we have always enjoyed our meals, one year we were a bit disappointed, just a mixture of things so we took a year off, but we gave it another try and were not disappointed.

It is one of my favorite pastimes, I could wander for days and never get bored. Just enjoying each of the pavilions, enjoying the food, people watching. The best type of vacation

For the longest I never wanted to chose a favorite, I love Wishes, it is such a special show for me, watching with the girls, the castle but Illuminations...if I had to chose one I think it would win out as well (at least by an inch....LOL)

Me too Cam, with the boys there I was trying to keep the tears at bay but a few definitely did fall. I could stand and smell the wonderful aroma all day long, it was hard to walk about but I knew we would be back (and then I did partake in some snacks )

It was just a tease Danielle, definitely purchased snacks when we returned....LOL
Angel was just so excited to get the thumbs up to eat it. Of course you know I kept watching the entire meal just keeping my fingers crossed (and my bag right next to me in case a reaction did happen so I could pop out the meds) that there was no reaction but no issues at all

Kelly we have done no park hoppers twice now, this trip and a few years ago with my nieces and I have to say I found it definitely doable, even more relaxed. Was there times we could have taken advantage of another park, sure...did we need too? No, we got everything we wanted to do at each park done, some attractions multiple times. It worked out perfectly and was a nice savings for us.

The boys did surprise me, I figured a day or two they might have been bored but they really enjoyed.

I always look back at my notes and say wow we really got a lot done. It helps that Jasmine is a dictator when it comes to our Disney trips, she gets everyone up and out and moving so we have no option to not get a lot done...LOL
Today I woke up with a terrible headache, I think I rolled over to take a pill before I even got out of bed it was that bad. We were supposed to be heading to Typhoon Lagoon today but the thought of going anywhere made my head hurt anymore.
Jasmine had gotten everyone up bright and early so that we could be there at opening so when she came to our room, I told her I wanted everyone to go without me. She did not want to leave me but I told her to go have fun, to make sure she kept an eye on the girls (which I knew she would).
She talked me into going downstairs to get something to eat thinking maybe some food and caffeine would help me (I don't drink coffee so a coke would have to do the trick, sometimes caffeine helps my headaches) so I agreed. I think she hoped I would feel better by the time they left but I didn't so they headed off around 8:15 or so.
I went back up to the room and rested a bit and thankfully I must have caught it and got medicine in quick enough and I started feeling somewhat better so I text them and said I would meet them at Typhoon Lagoon which made Jasmine happy.
She told me where she would be sitting (we usually grab chairs right near the tube slides) and I said I would meet them there. I think I got to the park a little before 10 AM, not bad.
The kids had stopped to get some photos when they first got there.
I got a locker, stored my stuff and headed off to find the kids. They had already done Keelhaul Falls and Mayday Falls a few times but they were hoping I would get there so we could all ride Gang Plank Falls together so that is where we headed.
We had maybe a 15 minute wait, if that, it seemed to move pretty quickly and we all had a fun ride. The girls rode together and the boys rode separately. We then rode Mayday Falls again.
By this point the boys wanted the Wave Pool but Angel and Alexa wanted Crush n Gusher so the boys went to the pool and we all jumped on the lazy river. Angel and Alexa were going to go on Crush n Gusher and Jasmine and I were going to relax on the lazy river for a bit. The girls got off at their stop and we headed to the next stop and instead of going all the way around we decided to get off so we could watch the girls on Crush n Gusher.
Now this is one of those rides that Jasmine said she was never going to ride, but as we stood there waiting to see the girls come down Jasmine said it looked fun....ok that was all she had to say.
Soon we saw Angel and Alexa coming down the slide.
I told the girls that Jasmine wanted to ride and we got her on the line before she could change her mind. The line was really short at this point, maybe 10-15 minutes top and most of that time was going up the stairs.
I rode with Angel and Alexa said she was going to ride with Jasmine for Jasmine's first ride. Better her then me....LOL
So I am sure you all want to know Jasmine's reaction....well besides the fact that she claimed to hate the ride before they even went down the first drop, she survived and I am sure we can convince her to ride again the next time we go. Hey I am just happy that she was talking to us when she got off the ride
Such a fun ride, when we got off the line had started to get a bit longer and while I would have waited to ride again the girls were ready to do something else.
The girls have always wanted to swim with the sharks so we headed there next. The girls headed to the line, I was going to take pictures. As I stood there waiting I felt the first drops they kept the attractions open for some time and I was hoping that the girls would get to make it before the closed everything. The rain got harder but the lifeguard to another woman unless there was a concern about lightening that they would keep everything open.
Soon I saw the girls all sit and get in the water and then.....yep. You guessed it. The lifeguard got the call, everyone had to get out. All the attractions were being closed because of lightening in the area. I felt so bad for the girls as they had been so excited but I told them that hopefully the rain would pass. It is a good thing we were already wet so it did not bother us that it was now pouring....but it was pretty chilly.
We found the boys and we figured we would go grab a bite to eat. While the kids went over to Leaning Palms and I walked over to the lockers to get money. By the time I made it back the rain was really just a drizzle and the kids decided they wanted donuts instead....
Can I just say I would be a very happy person if there was someone handing me these donuts every morning on my way to work. Seriously, I would not even care about my crappy commute every morning if I could have these for breakfast each and every day. They are just amazing. I had gotten half a dozen, then the girls did....finally they convinced Hugo he needed to get a dozen, they did not last very long.
The rain had stopped at this point but the lightening was still in the area so everything was still closed. We waited awhile but at that point Jasmine was drying off and done. I know the two little ones really wanted to enjoy more so I told them I would stay with them and wait it out but in the end we all decided to head back to the resort and just relax before our celebration dinner this evening and then the Magic Kingdom.
Even with the rain disrupting our day (we usually get a little more time before the afternoon rain hits then we did today) we had a great time and seeing Jasmine on Crush n Gusher made the trip worth it.
We got back to the resort around 2:30 or so. Dinner was not until 6 PM at the GF so I told everyone we should be ready around 4:45. Everyone showered and if I remember correctly I think we all napped for an hour and then we got up for dinner.
Tonight was the night we planned to celebrate the girls graduation at 1900 Park Fare which was their choice.
Up Next: A great dinner, Olaf and Stitch join together in celebration and a fun evening at the Magic Kingdom.
