Eight is Enough - A July 2014 TR with cousins, club level and more Updated 3/29 DHS and Frozen Fun - Page 17 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

All caught up again. Sorry RFC was a disappointment. We felt that way last time too. We had one locally and it closed. I still stop in to buy rib rub each trip.

Sorry the service was lacking at Rainforst. At least the food was good, it did look delicious!!

Thanks. It wasn't terrible, it just didn't live up to the last time there.

Sorry your dining experience at Rainforest Café was not good. I've never eaten there but would like to try it sometime. Cleaning the dining room and bringing out the check without asking for dessert was kind of rude.
I'm your Cuban twin sister. No relaxing at Disney. We still like Rainforest, just won't be back on our next visit.

That's exactly how I feel. Too many other places to try.

I am like you, when I am Disney, I want to be going and doing. Sitting in the room I get a tad bit ansy too! I feel like I am wasting my money!!!
I hate paying for a meal and then feeling rushed. It's not like it's free.

Exactly.

It's ok. We love the resort.

I would have been turned off at the meal at the RC as well. Rushing guests through the meal is not a way to get a repeat customer

This morning we were up early. We met my sister’s family in the lobby and were at Epcot by 9. I really hate the Epcot bag check. Why is the line always so long? I loved when we stayed at BW and could use the back entrance.
We had a Spaceship Earth FP+ for 9:10-10:10. Our plan was to head straight to Test Track and ride stand-by. The posted wait time was 35 minutes, but it was really more like 20.
This was our first time on the new TT. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it, but I loved it. DH and I rode with Jared and Brianna (and two random people). The little kids rode with my sister and Brian.
After the ride, we let the kids play for a few minutes. They took pictures in some of the cars. When we exited the building, Aidan and Jared played in the car wash area outside for less than a minute since my sister was ready to move on.
Next, we headed to SE. This ride is usually a nice, relaxing break for us, but it was so hot inside this time. I don’t think the air conditioning was working. We were really glad when it was over. We took a few minutes to email our ride photos to friends and family. Then I took the kids to play Power City (which is the game that almost looks like shuffleboard) while the rest of the gang sat in a corner and waited (maybe not so patiently).
Our future
Too bad you can barely see this pic of Jared, DBil, and DSis, in their future
It was finally time to head over to The Land for our Soarin’ FP+, but not before a quick potty break.
Once at Soarin', we zipped right through the line and as we always do, we asked the CM if we could wait to get the front row. They usually don’t have any issues accommodating our request, considering we are willing to wait, but this CM was not happy that we asked for some reason. She had us stand over to the side and then we waited and waited and waited some more. She kept letting other groups have the front row. At first, we practiced being patient, but that got old very quickly. We had waited for about 4 groups to ride with people sitting in the front row, when my sister asked the CM when it would be our turn. I’m not sure if she had forgotten us, although we are hard to miss, lol. Finally, it was our turn and we got to ride in the front row. This ride is still one of our favorites.
After Soarin’ we headed to Sum of All Thrills. The posted wait time was 25 minutes and everyone wanted to ride, even though it meant we may miss our Journey into Imagination FP+. I, being the chicken that I am, decided to sit this one out and take notes for my TR instead. I had tried riding this a few years ago, but got claustrophobic and pressed the panic button before the ride even started. Don’t think I’ll ever try this one again.
We did miss our Journey FP+, but weren’t too upset since we knew we’d have time to ride another day. Lunch time was quickly approaching and we started making our way over to Japan.
Looks like you had a very nice day at Epcot. Odd about the CM and waiting for the front row. We've had similar experiences when making simple requests on other rides.
We felt the same way about the air conditioning in SE along with a lot of other attractions at Disney this past trip in May. It seems like they're not blasting the air as cold as they used to anymore. Sorry about the cranky Soarin CM.
