Mom & Me, Work & Fun PTR (Sept. 7-14, 2013) - Page 17 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

My goodness you were very busy yesterday, but it sounds like all of it gets you closer to being ready. Congrats on getting BOG for the next trip.
I was very busy and very tired when I finished. I was chatting with Pat today on FB and he said he will like coming home to a really clean house. I said I hope I get to come home to a clean house after my trip and he said "fat chance". Oh well. I'm happy about BoG, even though I thought I was content with skipping it, I really wanted to go there again.
Omigoodness you've been busy! Congrats on your first egg, getting your ADRs, and your productive day! for your mom! 6 more days to go!
It always seems to be busy around here. The egg was very exciting, we haven't had another one yet, but that's not unusual, they are just getting started. Once they all start laying we will have about 17 dozen a week. Shana is going to be selling them.
Today I didn't do quite as much as yesterday, but still managed to get a lot done.
I discovered that Hunter had not completed some assignments he was suppose to, so I had him do some of those and the others will be other the next couple of days.
I got through most of the laundry, including stripping my bed and washing my sheets and quilt. Hunter and Shana both got all their laundry put away (I checked under the bed )
I did dust and vacuum the family room and the spiral staircase (I hate vacuuming the spiral staircase).
I took some time and watched some episodes of Psych, I fell behind awhile ago and am trying to catch back up.
While cleaning the family room, I found a digital picture frame Pat got me awhile ago. I had never done anything with it. So I pulled it out and started transferring pictures from my hard drive to a flash drive. So far I pulled pics from 2000-2011. I will probably do the rest tomorrow. The sucky thing is I had it plugged in and the plug wasn't really close and the dogs broke the cord. I will need to get a new adapter. Stupid dogs!!
I also have the kids' lessons ready for tomorrow and Tuesday. I have some grading to do, which is why Hunter managed to skip some lessons.
I really didn't do anything specific for the trip today. I decided to wait until Thursday to pack. This is not like me, but it's just easier with it being just me. I figure I will do the laundry Thursday morning and then pack while the kids are at the school for a few hours and while Pat's at work. I have all the oddities accounted for, all I need to put in the suitcase is my clothes and toiletries.
I also chatted with Pat on FB for quite some time today. He should be leaving tomorrow and I probably won't hear from him until he hits the east coast. He has some tight connections and he is anticipating that he will miss one of them. He has one that he has a 32 minutes change of planes and has to collect his luggage and get through customs. Yeah, fat chance of that happening.
I haven't done an official weigh in, but I did weigh myself this morning and I am at 221.5. I'm still hopeful I will get under the 220 mark.

Congrats on getting all the ADRs you wanted including BOG. I am still debating if we want to do lunch or try for dinner.
Safe travels for Pat. Hope he makes all his connections!
Pixies for your Mom! I'm glad she's okay! Good luck getting everything done! Boy, you've been busy! Not much longer! I hope Pat makes all his connections!
Sounds like you had another successful day. Luke and I love Psych.
I don't know when or where I fell behind in Psych, but I stopped watching because it was confusing me. I decided I want to catch back up, it is such a funny show!

We really enjoyed the dinner at BoG, and I don't like waiting at all for CS.

Just wait till my next update, I have made myself busier, with a last minute project.
The last two days have been a bit crazy. I know that is not really a surprise, but it's making the time go very quickly.
Monday we got school done, I finished all the vacuuming, dusting and caught up all the laundry.
Yesterday we finished up school for the next two weeks, I still need to grade the kids work, and I'm hoping everything is done, if not they will be completing it tomorrow morning. We went to Roswell for Shana's art class and Hunter decided that he wanted to take art class as well. I was really happy about that. He is more a math/science kid and has always hated art. But he has been creating comic books since he was 5 and I think is wanting to learn how to draw better. While I had an hour of freedom from the kids I ran to Office Max and got some postcard card stock (details in a minute) and some pens for our calendar. I then hit Sam's club and bought some quick snack foods for Pat and the kids while I'm gone. After getting our obligatory Taco Bell (Taco Bell Tuesday ) we came home.
When we got home I got to work on a new little project for the trip. I was really struggling with all the maps for my lists of photos and having to drag them all around. There are about 70 maps/lists. Reading another TR someone had put there lists and itineraries on notecards. I knew I didn't have time to cut and paste them all, but I found some postcard stock and was able to use Avery's design and print to create the cards. I got almost all of them entered last night (still have the resorts to do) and then I just have to print them front and back. These will fit in the small cross-body purse I carry and will be much easier, and they are still legible!
Thanks for all the travel pixies for Pat, they were definitely with him. His flight into the US was on time and his flight leaving was delayed 20 minutes. Allowing him time to get through customs. However, he thought this would make it impossible to make the connection of only 32 minutes in Houston, but that flight was also delayed and he made it and arrived in Albuquerque on time. He stayed at a hotel last night and we are leaving in about 20 minutes to go meet him.
The pixies have also worked with the weight loss. I weighed in yesterday at 219.9!!! Now I just don't weigh myself before I go and I can say I was under 220 before the trip. I'm really happy and I am planning to try to not go overboard in Disney. I do know on most trips I eat like crazy and gain little or no weight. I'm sure walking 8 million miles helps.
That is all for today, I need to hit the road to go see my hubby!
I can't believe Pat made his connections! Getting down to the wire now and it sounds like you're really as prepared as it's possible to be. Congratulations on the weight loss! You did it! Safe travels and have a wonderful trip! I'll be looking for you!
I LOVE your maps project! Sounds like it will be much easier for you now. Thank goodness all of the pixie dust worked for Pat! I was thinking to myself, "man, that is cutting it awful close!" Glad everything worked out in his favor! Congratulations on your weight loss!!!! I'm so proud of you! Yeah, if I were you, I'd probably not weigh myself anymore before the trip either...to me, it counts, and that's all I would need to see before the trip to continue to claim that weight!
