Goin' Down the Bayou ~ The TR (November 1-10, 2012) - Page 17 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I had the Mahi at CR too and it was delish! Of course I had to forego the shrimp, but still good
How cute what that little boy said to his mom at the pearls. And I have to remember the girls' strategy to pick an ugly oyster when I pick a pearl next trip
Cool that you ran into Kaeli's friend. It's funny when that happens because even though you are all there you have to all be in the same place at the same time. That's always cool
Looks like you're having a great day at Epcot. First of all, you ate at my favorite restaurant, the CR. The view from the top isn't bad at all, unless you get put in the corner like we were one time, then it's not so hot. I love all of your WS photos. My favorite thing to do at Disney is stroll WS, and it looks like you're doing it perfectly.

Sounds like a great afternoon, and looks from your pics like it was less crowded.
I did Pick a Pearl in 2011, and it was so neat. Score for Kaeli with her 8.5er. Wow!
Too cute about that little boy! Very sweet.
Loving the drinks you and Chris got, but may I ask...what exactly is a fiesta margarita? I love Margaritas, but I am a plain jane gal. I love the sour tartness of regular Margaritas.
Partly because of your TR we have booked Coral Reef for our next trip! My husband already has his eye on the lobster Mac and cheese!
I love the pick a pearl picks. That looks like so much fun! Your girls are adorable.
Thanks! I think their pretty cute myself, though I might be a little biased We had never done the pick a pearl thing before, but it's a lot of fun! They girls behind the counter get really excited for you and they do a little ceremony with the drums when they present you with your pearl. It's very cute!
I'm glad you're going to give Coral Reef a try, I hope you like it!

Strolling through the World Showcase at Epcot has to be one of my favorite things to do at Disney!

Kaeli and Abby were ecstatic that they had Agent P to color! I'm sure your boys will love it too.

That's the beauty of knowing that we'll be back again for another trip, we can tour at a more relaxed pace instead of running from attraction to attraction, worried that we might miss something. If we don't get to it this trip, I know there will be another trip to make up for it

Thanks, Cheryl We had so much fun at the pick a pearl, those girls behind the counter get so into it, you can't help but have a good time!

Sounded like a fun first part of the day in Epcot.
Plus a chance meeting with her friend from school and family.
They were quite happy with their pearls! We didn't have them set though, I really need to get on Etsy to find some cages for them to wear them in!

What a great view from breakfast, and it sounded pretty yummy too!
Mule?? Seriously?? How did you not say something? How rude!
Looking at your pictures it just realized I never had a Mickey pretzel
Glad Abby loved SM! Two new coasters this trip!!
Nice NJ guy no wonder we get a bad rap.
We need to get poncho girl and goggle boy together for a pic on Splash
I'm pretty sure Chris and I were just so stunned from that woman's comment that she left us speechless I was pretty shocked that Chris didn't snap at her, usually he has no patience for rudeness!
You need to fix your lack of Mickey Pretzels next trip, they're yummy!
I think that would be a pretty funny picture of the two of them on Splash Just wait until I post the pic we took on our last day when we forgot Abby's poncho

I think I'm going to do the pick a pearl next time too, I regret not doing it with the girls this time
I was thinking the same thing when we ran into Kaeli's friend, with WDW being so huge, I didn't think we would run into them at all!

I can see how being in the corner on the top row at CR would not be good. We were pretty lucky that they put us pretty much in the center of the row
Strolling the WS is my favorite thing to do too, I think I could spend days doing it!

Can't wait to hear about your evening.
It definitely was a lot less crowded this afternoon, I don't know what was up with those crowds earlier
We got those margaritas at the stand outside of the pavillion, they have frozen lime, strawberry and mango flavors. The fiesta is just a mix of all three, layered in one cup

Ah...I thought it was something like that. I was right, I would just go for the lime.
Originally, our plan was to back track through the WS, snacking our way around the F&WF booths for dinner, but the girls had a different idea.
After they finished up with their treats the girls requested that we head over to Innoventions, of course Chris and I obliged. F&WF would have to wait for another day, I suppose.
Along the way, we stopped for a few Photopass pics
We started off with some fun at the Great Piggy Bank Adventure
And then over to the other building we went for the Sum of All Thrills. Abby decided she wanted to sit that one out, so she and I did some exploring while Chris and Kaeli designed their coaster.
We were all pretty hungry at this point, so I think we headed next to the Land for some dinner at Sunshine Seasons. And, being a slacker again, I forgot to take any pics. After we finished eating, we walked right on to Living with the Land. This was the first time I had ever had the chance to ride this while it was dark out and I really enjoyed it. There was a different feel throughout the greenhouse without the sunlight filtering in, it was pretty cool.
When we were through, we checked the wait for Soarin. It was still well over an hour, so we decided to just call it a night and head home. On the way out we stopped to admire the fiber optic lights in the sidewalk, very cool!
It was so hard to get a good picture of them!
A few Photopass pics on the way out.
We had just a short wait for a bus, we were back to POR by about 8:30. We found this little guy waiting for us to return home.
The girls must have been pooped, they were sleeping by 9. Chris and I followed around 10:30, it was going to be another early morning on Tuesday.

Sounds like a great evening! When I see shots of the whole family together I am still facisnated by how much Kaeli looks like Chris and Abby looks like you. Too funny!
I like the Piggy Bank game, even though it's not thrilling.
Those fiber optics were very cool! I have seen the little lights in the black tiles around SE, but not those big ones. I'll have to check for them next trip.
Love the pics in front of SE at night, I don't have any shots of SE at night...another thing to add to my to do list.
