Let The Memories Begin - Our Beach Club Adventures Feb 2011 - Page 17 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just caught up with your latest posts. What a wonderful day at MK, glad you got to try some new attractions, Philamagic is one of my favorites. I was solo that night too due to the Super Bowl, my friend is a big Steelers fan so I ended up leaving her as well at the resort but headed over to Epcot instead.
Our paths definitely did cross on this trip, we were at DHS on the 7th as well, our lunch was around 12:30 but at 50's but we headed over to TSMM at that point as well Tuesday was definitely cold...what a great day at the AK, I love that park (I missed it on this trip) but I love all your pictures.
We woke up to a beautiful, sunshiny day!!! It was also warmer today, but we wore our sweatshirts anyway, because after yesterday I wanted to make sure I stayed warm!!!
Today, we would finally get to WALK over to Epcot!!!
Much, much better than taking the bus or boat. Peter knew exactly where he wanted to go first.
Soarin' was only a 10 minute wait!! So, we got in line and took our first flight of the day. It was as awesome as we remembered. As soon as we got off, the SB wait had bumped up to 25 minutes, so we grabbed FPs and decided to get something to eat.
We had 2:00 lunch ADRs, so this morning we decided to get a little breakfast. I had planned for us to catch the monorail over to the Poly, as I really wanted to try that Tonga Toast!! but, we had spent so much time commuting back and forth the past few days, Peter just wanted to stay in Epcot and eat. No problem! Since we were right there, we grabbed something at Season's.
Peter got the breakfast platter and chocolate milk. ($11.17 or 1 CS credit) I wasn't all that hungry, so I chose an apple caramel bun and chocolate milk. I used 2 SC or $6.16. Peter said his food was pretty good, but my apple caramel bun was....
After we ate, we went over to ride Living w/ the Land.
A Hidden Mickey!
We both liked this . Another first to mark off that long list of mine!
It was time to take our second flight on Soarin'. This time we were in the front row...the best!! As soon as we got off....another FP....
After our 2nd ride on Soarin', we decided to try something else. When we came outside and started walking towards Spaceship Earth, we soon realized that we would def not be needing our jackets today. Of course not! We'll just carry them around for the rest of the day. Don't you just hate it when you do that....bring them and you don't need them, forget them and you freeze to death! We ended up getting a locker to put them in. So after getting a locker & a quick bathroom break, we finally got to ride SE.
This ride is just so !!!!! I can't believe we hadn't tried it before now! We sent an email to our home address of our ride- which was just as to watch once we got back home!
Back over to Soarin, for our 3rd ride of the day!! This was def the beginning of an awesome day!!! After our ride, we grabbed yet another FP, then headed over to WS.
I planned to stop by here later, since I planned to buy Nathan his very first Vinylmation this trip.
It was getting close to our lunch ADR in France, so we decided to enter WS in Canada and walk around that way.
We passed by Alice, but didn't wait in line. I got a good picture though.
Soon we were in France!! So, you remember from my PTR that I wanted to explore the countries more this time. France turned out to be my most favorite by far!!
More great updates! Sorry the service at Boma was lacking! Great pictures!

Sorry Boma wasn't the best - we liked it, but it certainly wasn't our favorite TS of our trip!
We had so many wonderful meals, but Boma failed to impress.

It's so to read what others were doing the same time I was there!! The weather was so weird this trip, hot, rainy, cold, warm, windy..... I think we had pretty much a little of everything!

Lunch at Les Chefs de France was a highlight of our trip!!!!!
We did Living with the Land for the first time on our last trip. I loved it! Can't believe I hadn't done it before. Spaceship Earth was closed on our last trip, so we're looking forward to the "new & improved" version on our next trip.
Love Soarin'! So does hubby and he's not big on heights. But we did exactly what you did, ride, go get FP, eat, ride again. Perfect start to any day at Epcot!
Oh your pictures are awesome. And I am jealous of how many times you got to ride Soarin! We just realized we really have not explored WS either. And we have no excuse as it always is just two adults. Guess I will have to change that soon!

So I'm finally joining the bandwagon here.....
What a great trip so far! I'm glad you guys still made your ADR at CP that first night. Dinner with the characters was a great way to start your trip! And I'm glad you made it back to MK for a little solo venture. All of your meals have sounded yummy so far I'm another one who always looks for long sleeve shirts and you're right - they are hard to come by! I think I'll start checking out the resort gift shops too. Great tip. Great day at Epcot so far!!! Looking forward to hearing about your yummy meal in France!

Three times on Soarin'...WOW!!! You did a great job getting them all in so early! As for those fireworks, I'm pretty sure they are Wishes coming from that direction at that time. Can't wait to read about Chefs de France.
We had our picture taken here before checking into the restaurant.
We were seated right away, next to the window-what a great view!!!
I'm already in love with this place!!!!
Our server Marc came out to welcome us and to go over the menu. To say that he had a French accent is an understatement! The look on Peter's face was hilarious!! He couldn't understand a word he said. I pretended to know what I was doing here and ordered both of us a glass of iced tea and asked for a few more minutes. I decoded the menu and Peter decided on the salmon w/ spinach & potatoes (can't find it on allears) and I chose the
Plat de Cote de Boeuf au Cabarnet avec pates - Beef short ribs braised in Cabernet with pasta, pearl onions and mushrooms. I ordered a cup of Bisque de Homard - Lobster bisque and Peter got
Salade Maison- selected greens, house vinaigrette dressing.
