We're going to WDW! Adventures of a Mom & Toddler the TR! 9/24-9/30/2010 - Page 17 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

MNSSHP sounded like a lot of fun for you. I'm glad your mom ended up thinking it was worth it.
Was that a Minnie towel head? I've never seen a Minnie before.
Desite the rain earlier in the day, I was so glad we stuck it out for MNSSHP Kelly. It was one of the best times we had at Disney, and I was so glad it was a different side of Disney we have never seen. Thank you again Kelly for mentioning the Harmony Barber Shop. My mom was even so surprised that we never knew it was there when I was younger, as I had told her after Skyler's hair cut, that I would have loved to have my hair cut there as a kid. I am so surprised how many hidden gems (HBS being one of them) that Disney has. Once we got the Trick-or-Treat Bags, my mom honestly felt like a kid in a candy store, as se loved even the Trick-or-Treat in Disney aspect too. Thank you, it started to make the trip even more of a hilight for us, and I was so glad she realized how much fun MNSSHP is and how much fun the 3 of us had. I think the next time we head back with her, she may try to seek revenge and aim for a higher score than me on Buzz. I know my loves the parades and fireworks at Disney, but really she was the one in tears after seeing Happy Hallo-Wishes. I know she looked at me like I had two heads before we got there, and probably thought I was crazy for what we planned for our trip, but I think when she realized that with all of the help I've received from everyone on here and based it around her pace & Skyler's and all of the memories she helped us make, the trip was really worth it.
Good eye Kelly. I didn't even recognize that either that it was a Towel Minnie, not Mickey. We must have been really exhausted that day (and I am too oblivious to even notice that until you mentioned it). I feel ever so lucky we had a Towel Minnie awaiting us to enter our room for the very first nigt of our stay. We did also have more towel annimals awaiting us our last night, which I'll post those ones too.
I appologize if my pictures don't get up for a couple of days. We just got home a little bit ago from Speech Therapy (which makes me sad that Skyler has regressed and he just isn't participating with his Therapist), which I don't know what we're going to do from there, but I have so many evaluation booklets to have completed before Skyler's Evaluation with the School Psychologist from the school district tomorrow afternoon. I've gotten as much done as Skyler has let me get done, but so muc to fill out.
Thank you so much for the pixies Kelly. It actually went well, and I was pleasantly surprised the Psychologist had mentioned Skyler is more on the Mild Side of the Autism Spectrum and noticed more ADHD in Skyler (which I can handle). Only a few weeks to go until his Elegibility Meeting. I hope he gets to start school soon though.
Good luck with everything. And I guess it's a plus that his autism is more on the mild side, so here's looking at a little bit of a bright side.
Thank you so much Melissa. I am quite relieved his Autism is more on the mild side than on the severe side, since Erick & I weren't sure how severe it was until now. Now I just can't wait for him to start school and see more improvement.

Thank you so much Holly & Kathy. I'm glad today he had a better day with Speech Therapy which we just got home from.
Tonight you will be able to get more pictures from my trip! Since really I have nothing fun planned for Skyler & I this weekend, other than waiting to hear back from a friend from college who will be out visiting near us tomorrow! Hopefully more pictures and my next update will be up for everyone tonight. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Sorry everyone I haven't gotten a chance to post more pictures or another update to my TR or been on the boards much, and it may get behind again. Last night I just got an unofficial word that we may be moving very soon (more than likely within the next month). I won't know for a couple of weeks though, but Erick, Skyler, & I along with DMIL & DFIL will be moving to Colorado. I know DFIL, DMIL, & Erick are very ready to move back there, and this has to also do with DFIL's job. The good news though is Skyler will actually more than likely be attending the same schools that Erick, DBIL, & DSIL all went to out there. The only thing that is making me a tad bit stressed is getting Skyler into school out there when his Elegebility Meeting is coming up in a very short few weeks here.
I know Erick & I have no intentions to stay in Virginia, as we want to stay close to family. I just figured I'd give you all a heads up on that if it seems like I'm not on here much as now I have more research to get done with finding out what needs to happen with Skyler and school. I know I shouldn't worry about this until we get the official word about it, but I think it is happening sooner than Erick and I had expected. I hope everyone's enjoying your weekend.
