As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears

Moving on with the current of the years.

Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Hey Melissa! Even though I hardly post anymore (sneaking this one from work) had to let you know I me some Bakelin adventures! And miss you all bunches! Your pics get better and better all the time! Methinks a second career is calling your name! I'm dying to try Some of all Thrills now after reading your reviews from this trip & Thanksgiving. But it's been, dare I say, 20+ years since I was in school so I don't know how good my ride would be when it's based on math & science! I've yet to eat at Yak & Yeti. I've eaten the counter service and gotten a little loopy on some Yak Attacks but would like to dine inside too. Can't wait to more of your adventures.
We were up bright and early on Tuesday. Stitch called and yelled at us at 6:45. We got up and ready and headed out to catch a cab to the Contemporary b/c we like to not worry about catching the bus in time when we have a breakfast ADR. It was around 7:30 and our ADR was at 8:00, plenty of time… or was it??? The guy at the DME area got us a cab (and he was very chipper for so early in the morning I might add)… and this other couple walked up, going to DTD, and tried to take our cab! Hold on a minute sistah! We were here first. But since it was a van cab the chipper CM asked the cabbie if he wouldn’t mind taking all of us….. Really??? C’mon on man! That means he’ll take those other people to DTD first (and who the heck goes to DTD and DisneyQuest at 7:30 in the morning anyway???). And sure enough, that’s what he did. We were like “umm. We have a breakfast ADR at 8.” And it was 7:45 at this point. He tells us not to worry, he’ll have us there in 10 minutes. Well. He did. Questionable driving. But he made it. And he was sure to point it out too I think he was proud.
We hurried in and upstairs and checked in at Chef Mickey’s. Our pager went off as soon as we were getting our picture made and we were soon on our way to our seat. We had a window seat for two overlooking the back of the resort and Bay Lake. It was nice, except the sun was shining in nice and bright. But it was okay because it made it nice and warm in there
As soon as we sat down Chef Goofy came by to visit… This was great b/c Goofy is Andy’s favorite classic character (how fitting I must say… )
We talked to Goofy about his cooking and asked him if he prepared anything up on the buffet. He let us know that he had and so we told him we were hitting it up! Too bad when we got up there I saw that Goofy had made a vegetable lasagna… who the heck eats veggie lasagna at 8am? Probably the people that go to DTD at 7:30am But poor Goofy, nobody had taken the slightest sliver out of his lasagna. Maybe you should make some breakfast lasagna Goofy. It is breakfast you know… but then again…he is Goofy.
We piled our plates with cheesey eggs, sausage, pancakes, waffles, potatoes, and more. When we got back to the table the head chef himself came by. He knew that the sunshine wasn’t good for photos so he pulled us out into the main room. First a selfshot because those are just fun
And then some silly ones
After Mickey left we continued to stuff ourselves with that tasty breakfast and then my man Donald came by!! I have to admit, I didn’t know he was here! This is a great character meal in that the food is tasty and you get to hit up the fab five all at one time!
Miss Minnie came by next. Andy tried to look like a doof in this picture. I think he succeeded.
I tried to be prissy like her.. I’m not really a prissy girl….
Pluto was next and he was outta control with Andy… It was Pluto’s idea to show the guns ()
Then he and I discussed his role in the kitchen… He let me know that he simply does the prep work (pouring, mixing, stirring……all that stuff). And then he eats it! The best part!
Then a nice one after the deep conversation…
Once we had been hit up by all the characters, we really dug in and enjoyed our breakfast. Andy was loving the fact he could have like 3 different types of breakfast potatoes. The boy loves his potatoes.
I think it’s safe to say we ate our money’s worth here and would definitely go back for breakfast
After we finished we walked through the giftshops. Stitch must’ve been in our closet at home before we left b/c Andy could only find one of his Birkenstock shoes so he needed to buy some flop type shoes to wear with shorts for the trip. We found him a nice brownish leather looking pair that had a mickey head on the foot of it. He liked them b/c they were comfy and Disney but not over the top.
We made our way to the monorail and were soon headed over to Epcot.
Glad you had a great time at Chef Mickey's; it's one of our favorites! (I actually like Goofy's lasagna --looking forward to it at DD's b-day breakfast ) your pictures! Looking forward to more.

The Goof is my favorite and yes Melissa, maybe it does have something to do with my demeanor. I’ve really fallen in love with the Contemporary ever since we stayed there back on 2008 and the breakfast at Chef Mickey’s is now my number one favorite breakfast at Disney World. My plate in the last picture says it all; donut holes, chocolate croissant, and hash browns. Breakfast of champions!

I didn't think you did! I thought it was a little strange, too, at first. I mean, who eats veggies for breakfast? NOT me! But I'd read on these boards that it was good, so I tried a little piece...and then another, and another...
