As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Next we headed into Norway and rode the Viking ride, but skipped the video. On the way to Norway we stopped and got a Kim Possible fast pass. We had to pick up our mission at the International Gateway, so we kept going as planned. Dillon was hungry, but didn’t want to eat lunch here- so we decided to get a little something from each country. We got a cherry turnover and two bottled waters. We split the turnover, it was ok to me, and Dillon loved it.
Next was China. I really wanted to see their film, but Dillon didn’t so we missed it. We got a shrimp rice and egg roll platter to split (we still had our waters from Norway). We both enjoyed it, but neither of us was crazy about it.
**Dillon really enjoyed reading all the signage to see what animal he and all his family was represented by based on birth year- I can't remember what ours was**
**I was so excited to find this terra cotta army display! I hadn't even known about it till I read it in a fellow passporters TR, very ***
Up next was Germany. Dillon wanted a pretzel, so we got that and brat’s worth with roll and sauerkraut and a diet coke. Dillon loved the pretzel, but neither of us cared for the brats worth platter- a good bit of it went in the garbage. There was very limited seating in this area and quite a few people in line to eat. Thankfully someone got up and we were able to snag their table right after we got our food. I kept trying to get Dillon to get a table while I was in line (the tables were right there) but he was always to slow and I was getting a little irritated, but thankfully it worked out. And of course when we were done two families tried to get our table. The man won out which irritated me because he had no food/tray and the two women were just standing there with a tray of food and no place to sit.
**I can't remember the exact location of either of these topiaries, but I believe the lady and the tramp were just before Germany and the Goofy and Donald were closer to Italy***
We left Germany and headed over to America. They have awesome barbeque sandwiches here and that’s what I had wanted for lunch, but we were stuffed at this point so we actually spent very little time in America and headed over to Italy. I still had my diet coke from Germany, but Dillon’s water was now gone also so he got a lemonade ice from Italy ($4.75).
Next we headed for Japan. We found a ball in their shops for Winston and Dillon kept looking for Pokémon Cards with Japanese writings, but they were all English version, so the ball was our only purchase. Next we headed to Morocco. We didn’t spend much time here before heading into France. Dillon didn’t want to see the film here either, but when I reminded him it had seats and we could take a break he had a change of heart. I really enjoyed the film; I actually really love all of the films in World Showcase- I would love to explore it on my own, at my own pace some day.
**We came up on Aurora with no one what so ever around her! I believe it was in France, but can't be certain. Dillon actually didn't want to see her, I guess some of his bravery was missing w/out his brothers... I gave him a good nudge and he got her autograph and picture...***
After France was the International Gateway. Finally- we were getting our Kim Possible Mission! I was worried they would send us to the other side, so I specifically requested somewhere close. Thankfully, we got the United Kingdom! The mission was actually relatively easy. So easy that I can’t believe that we weren’t able to figure it out last time! When we tried to do the mission over Thanksgiving, the baby proceeded to having a meltdown, so apparently dealing with a screaming baby fries your brain cells- because I just can’t believe how easy it was this round. Dillon LOVED the mission and can’t wait to do it again! During the mission, I spotted a souvenir for Madilyn- a package that contained a real coin from each country represented in World Showcase. So, we took a break long enough to buy that.(She loved it so much that she took it to school to show her teacher and friends)
**Dillon truly enjoyed the KP Mission! And he can't wait to get his siblings in on it next time. There were several families near by doing the same mission and that often "helped" us move things along which was fine by me**
**I just loved this Bambi and Thumper topiary! I thought it was so cute! I can't remember the exact location, but I believe it was in between UK and Canada***
After we saved the world, we headed into Canada. Now Canada is one of my favorite countries in World Showcase and I love their film- but by this point Dillon and I were exhausted, so we all but walked thru Canada heading for the exit. I wanted to use our Soarin fast passes on the way out, but Dillon just wanted to go to the resort. As much as I wanted to ride Soarin’ once more, this was Dillon’s trip plus I was exhausted also. We walked up to a waiting bus and were back at the hotel by 3pm.
**We really had a great time exploring World Showcase, I'm so glad that Dillon enjoys it as much as I do!** Up Next: Fireworks or not

Epcot is our favorite park also! And what I loved about the Norway bakery is there was ample seating and a short line to get food (especially compared to the other smalle eateries around WS)
