Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I LOVE the Fosse foto. Too bad you didn't get a present from Scott. Looking forward to more!

Love the pix. Eileen, you're a riot. Too bad the Dream Squad passed you by. I for one would love to read the TR for the CLQ-1 spending the night in Cinderella Castle.

Inch by inch the sundae was in constant danger of landing in his lap – to which I felt required to inform our dear friend that, if the glass fell, it wouldn’t stop us from continuing to consume it. As if I could EVAH forget this story!

Although, I will add here that it seemed there was quite a bit of jealousy from Thom that was especially ironic, seeing as how this is a man who likes to sleep in, have his sit-down meals and generally enjoy himself while on vacation. I think Karen has had some serious influence on Thom’s internal WDW schedule.
And he's essentially one of those people in glass houses who throws rocks. I do admit that his competitive nature as far as Disney goes has shot up incredibly since he met karen.

The sommelier came over with one of the bottles and showed us all the label. Bob immediately started describing the “bright flavors and crisp finish of the wine” in such loving detail that the sommelier eventually handed Bob his ring of keys and asked him to make sure to lock up that evening when he was done.

That was hilarious! Bob has definitely found his retirement job at Disney (while you can find Larry manning a Jungle Boat ).

Quote:
Then we settled in to selecting our meals. I was tempted by the buffalo, but my undergrad alma mater’s mascot was a bison and I just couldn’t do that to Bucky. Plus, I’d been hearing about the salmon at AP for years and knew that there really wasn’t another choice I could make without kicking myself later.
I just couldn't do it either. I thought I was being pretty progressive with my venison spring rolls though.

Quote:
And the cheese and the pairings – well, they were unbelievable. I love me a strong, stinky blue cheese. Yum, yum, yum!

I've had the cheese plate at AP before and it is delish! Just be glad that I wasn't sitting closer or you would have seen my fingers slowly making their way towards your cheese.

Quote:
Um... yeah... so I *was* drinking. (That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it.)
I'm starting to laugh just thinking about it!

Quote:
But... when I went to tell of the slightly racy comment I said to Larry at the time, it came out ALL wrong and was suddenly the baudiest, raciest, raunchiest thing I could imagine ever coming out of my mouth at that moment. The group exploded with laughter and I immediately flushed pink (and, I think, Larry flushed a similar color.) I got so embarrassed that I ended up throwing my napkin over my head and howled with strangled laughter and shame.

Zoiks... that was both HI-larious and dreadful. I'll never live it down. (And, for those in attendance, the use of "down" here was intentional. )
It was THE funniest moment of the trip - - and the fact that Bob and Sharon couldn't contain themselves afterwards made it even funnier for me.

Quote:
Bob and Larry, you two are some of the nicest, most sincere, most delightful people I’ve ever met. You totally knocked my socks off and I’m still floating on a lovely memory of “good friends, good food” that will stick with me for the rest of my days. Seriously – that was a highlight of my whole life!
You captured it well, Eileen. They are both gems!

Quote:
Larry entertained us by checking the blog on his iPhone – we howled with laughter over the fact that Karen, Thom and Bob (and Calder) were appalled with how slooooooow we were being with dinner and how few updates I’d made to the blog, which they’d been obsessively checking for some time now. After hours of seeing nothing but my cheese plate, Calder announced that he was no longer jealous of my going to Disney without him if *this* was how I was spending my time. Heeee!
That was the perfect way to end this incredible evening!

Jill

Sharon and I sat together and I peeped underneath the sail behind me to make a snarky comment to Jill about not banging her head. Which gave me the PERFECT view ... [wait for it] ...of Jill banging her head on the sail.

Oh, the irony!!

I'm just one of those people who will hurt themselves if the opportunity presents itself!

But… guess who got to interact with Buddy Boyle? Lil’ ol’ me… me, ME, ME!!
And you did a phenomenal job, my dear!

Yep, I grabbed my cell phone, stuck out my tongue and held it over my head. The entire row of PassPorters shouted with laughter.
If that was not THE most perfect moment, I don't know what was!

I forgot all about that! It was pretty loud in there, but I did hear something . . . at least I think I did.

Wanna know one of the most fun things about MouseFest? It's getting to completely embrace your joy, your geekitude, your love of all things hokey and silly and fun. This is the SECOND time I've gotten to ride POTC with a gaggle of PassPorters who knew all the words of the song and weren't embarrassed to show off that skill -- loud and proud!
You had told me that you had done this the year before, but I didn't really "get it" until I experienced the same thing. What a feeling!

Quote:
Anyway, we had a slight wait in the standby line because I don’t think all of us had FPs. (My memory is fuzzy at this point, but I remember having to snake around slightly before going into the building and down to the loading area.)
You're right - - only half of us had FPs, so we handed those over to strangers and waited in the standby line together - - which wasn't long at all.

I believe this was another first for Jill and I just couldn't bear to try and fake her out that the camelback in the middle was the big drop. (She screamed like a sissy girl anyway.

My favorite part was getting Jill to realize the irony of the recorded announcer on the train saying (in a whisper) “if you listen really closely, you just might hear the tribal people” which is followed (hilariously) by the loudest singing of “Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moooooooon.”

Hilarious… I tells ya. HI-larious!
Oh my gosh! I had forgotten all about that and it was hilarious! You had me all ready to listen carefully and then Pochahantas belts out that line!

Well... Karen *did* set up that shot of me in the bed at the villa with a phone in my sleeping hand.

No... sillies. I seriously only text that much when I'm at Disney. And, like my dogs, I just don't have pockets.

Oh Eileen! I needed cheering up and there is no better therapy than reading one of your HILARIOUS trip reports. You truly have made my morning.

Sounds like another amazing Mousefest trip. The dinner with Bob and Larry et al sounded like something else.
