the EIGHTEEN years, TEARS, CHEERS & Hurricane FEARS TR - Page 17 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

At 8:50 we were FINALLY seated. Now remember our dinner ADR was for 7:40 and we checked in at 7:15. Yes OVER an hour wait from our ADR TIME!! Let me tell you my crew was HUNGRY!!! And Those Teenagers ARE SCARY when they're hungry!!! The story we got was they had two very large parties that were done eating but would not leave. They were just sitting around talking. Well, Im sorry, at some point, the manager has to step in and ask them to move it along! It does put him between a rock and a hard place anger the customers already in there, or anger the customers waiting! But PLEASE.
After we were seated, Jeff asked to speak to the manager. He came over and apologized PROFUSELY for the long wait time and to make up for it, he gave us some special passes to be used IN Epcot sometime before the end of our trip. They were fast passes for the five of us (two of them) to go on any ride! It was great in that it bought us back about 2 hours of time, but the down side was we all had to be together (one pass listed # of people 5 on it.) Thats ok, we were happy to take them, and I had plans for them already!
It didnt take long for them to bring out some bread, and it was gone before the waitress had turned her back. She did a great job explaining where the different breads came from, but since my husbands family is from Quebec, and we are all such BIG bread lovers, he was a bit miffed (kiddingly) that Quebec was not represented in the bread basket! We had the cheddar cheese soup which was not at all what I expected, but still quite delishous!! And we shared a tomato stack YUM! Jeff and I had prime rib and the kids ate New York Sirloin. I am not usually much of a red meat eater, but this was phenomenal!! The funny thing was the people at the next table were asking about the meat and if it could be bought here in the states. The waitress asked them "not to spread it around", because it was sort of a secret, but they were having trouble with their imports on the Canadian beef and the meat they were serving at the moment was Australian beef! Sorry Le Cellier, the cats out of the bag my little payback for my hour and thirty-five minute wait! I will say this... I don't care where they got the beef from... It was YUMMY!!
After dinner the kids shared a dessert and Jeff and I shared a maple crčme brule and a glass of Ice Wine. While it WAS very expensive, it was worth it to try it once! It was an excellent complement to the crčme brule (though I let Jeff eat most of it for fear of evil tummy returning!). The wine is a small 3 oz pour because of both the cost to make it and the sweetness of it. But I can not imagine drinking more than 3 oz. Jeff and I shared that glass and it was more than enough! I would highly recommend sharing a glass for dessert with someone special if you can fit it into your budget for a special occasion!
This meal was definately a big hit. If it weren't for the obnoxiously LONG wait! I chose this restaurant with my DH in mind, both because we don't eat steak very often and for his family heritage! It was another GOOD choice!!
The funny thing before we started eating was we joked about taking our time and closing down the place! Well it turned out not to be a joke after all! We did take our time and really enjoyed this meal, and we did close down the place! The best part was being able to walk through the International Gateway back to the Beach Club at a nice leisurely stroll, well... till we started getting rained on again! Once back in the room, we saw the light blinking on the hotel phone. Oh oooh. This cant be good. Who would be leaving a message on the hotel phone for us? Anyone who would try to reach us would have called our cell phones. Hmmm what now???
wow what a great meal even if it was late. I love the cheese soup, the tomato stack, and maple creme brule. I wonder if I can sneak in another ADR for our trip in 2 weeks.

Glad you enjoyed your dinner at LeCellier...that's one of our favorites! I can't believe about the wait time though I agree...the manager should have said something to the procrastinating groups!
Enjoying reading your TR, hopefully the message is good news

Great updates!! to hear the wait was so long, but glad the manager offered something in return for your trouble. Can't wait to hear about who called you!
Oh now I'm feeling bad about leaving you all hanging... I won't have time to write again for a while because I have to work for the next few days.
And? ....... So?...... Ack! You have a mean streak.

You feel bad? Nope, sorry... I am not buying it. I KNOW you had a huge smile on your face as you typed up that last cliff hanger. They way this audience is on the edge of their seat for your TR, I am wondering how many are trying to confiscate the phone records for the Beach Club right now to piece it all together!
