It’s Always Sunny in California!..Eh?...L’il Bit! - Page 17 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Wonderful pictures! And I agree that the guy with his Princess backpack was a hoot! Reminds me of the time DH wore DD's (6 at the time) tiara when she took a tear and wouldn't wear it. Good times!
Too funny!!!!

Dinner tonight was at Flo’s. Cass and I had been looking at the food porn thread on Dis and the food here looked really good and was a must do on our list!
A look at Radiator Springs.
We somehow went in the wrong door. I think maybe we had a potty stop and went in through a door near there? Anyways, the line wasn’t too bad so we just hopped over/under the queue rope and got in line. It didn’t take too long to get up to order…but longer than it should have.
We discussed what we were going to have, both of us settling on the Turkey dinner, but I was going to get peas and carrots, while Cass decided on the roasted corn medley. I told her I like corn…..but was a little leery what it meant by medley? How many kinds of corns are there?
This was a picture in a glass case. I think it was kid’s offerings?
And you can barely make it out….but this was some cute silverware that looked like tools. And no they don’t let you use stuff like this. I am not sure if they ever did, but I would assume people would steal it left and right.
We made our orders and then waited and waited and waited. The ordering went fast, but when it came time for them to get the food out to you they were slower than molasses.
While waiting a person in the next line over asked the food counter people if she would change her roast beef to turkey would it come out faster because she had been waiting so long. I quickly told her that wouldn’t help because I have been waiting on turkey. LOL.
Finally it came and Cass had gotten hers first so I went and found her at a table. Getting back there was a chore too. Strollers in the middle of the aisle way and then the people were standing in the small space left talking. I was tired, hot and hungry and I am sure my “excuse mes” had a ring to them of “Get the heck out of my way!”
I also got a shake to drink. I think it was cookies and cream or something along that line.
Sad to say, but the meal was just OK. I don’t think I found butter for my roll and that’s disappointing and it just didn’t taste as good as it looked all around. The shake was really good though. Cass said hers wasn’t that great either and told me I should be glad I didn’t get the corn medley as it wasn’t very good at all. I think the gravy was part of the problem….it had that cheap gravy taste. I think it might have been better if I had asked for no gravy.
After we were done we cleared away our plates (they use real utensils here) and I took this cute picture.
And then we headed out once again. I swore I took pictures during this time, but I guess it was another night. I was a bit chilly and Cass had been looking for a few specific things, so we shopped around a bit. I found a really cute Carsland sweatshirt/hoodie, but it seemed really thin and for the price I just couldn’t justify it. Boy, later that night I regretted that!
It was time to start making our way over towards Paradise Pier for our FP to see World of Color.
I don’t think we had to wait too long and we were let in to find a place. We picked a spot off to the left side along a railing and then we chatted. The wind was a little breezy and it started to get cold. Not winter cold, but cold enough for someone in short sleeves. Even Cass, who is almost always hot, said that her arm facing the wind was getting pretty darn cold. It was funny, because I was pretty cold, but at least talking sort of kept my mind off of it a l’il bit. I think I may have called home during that time too… and though I jumped around to keep warm and complained a bit, there were people there wrapped up completely like it was winter! There was a guy with jeans and a hoodie and a scarf or something wrapped around him and he was sitting on the ground shaking. Seriously! It wasn’t that bad! I did however feel that if the parents looked away from the kids near us in strollers….. then I might steal one of their blankets to wrap up in. Hah!
It did start eventually and it was totally worth our cold wait!
Let me tell you that my pictures do not do this show justice at all. I just kept snapping and I am not impressed at all with what I got. The show is beautiful…..so much color…and so stimulating. I really enjoyed it and the music with it is great as well.
Beautiful shots of World of Color! Sorry dinner was great. I must admit now, looking at your photos, I'm kicking myself for not going inside Flo's, as it looks like the theming in there is wonderful.
Love the shots of World of Color!! I missed that show when I was there as it was not running for some reason. Love all the night shots you got, Disneyland is so pretty at night.
World of Color looks so beautiful! Did you have to stand the whole time that you were waiting for it to start?
It is super beautiful! So stimulating!!!
You do have to stand, no seating there at all.

And more pictures of World of Color…did I mention I took a lot? LOL!
Remember how I wondered the night before if those fire balls were hot when standing closer? Well on a night like tonight….they felt heavenly! So nice and warm!
THAT……WAS….AMAZING!!!!!!!!
We let the crowds leave and just hung out a bit and waited. We both hate to walk with the herds. After a l’il bit, we started to make our way out. We decided to see if our package for the conference had arrived yet and if so if we could pick it up. We planned to have an early start the next day and the package included the tickets we would need to get in the park, so we made our way over to the Grand Californian.
Sadly, they were pretty much clueless as to what we were asking. I think the guy did go in the back and found out that they had arrived but still were being sorted. Oh well, annoying as it was, there was nothing we could do about it and we would just have to come over in the morning and get checked in and get our packages.
We then made our way back to the DL hotel. One final shot of the night is of the headboard lit up.
I am pretty sure we went to the hot tub then. I think Cass joined me, but she might not have. What I do remember is sitting in there and some young adults, probably in their early 20s, talking away. At first it was 3 girls and they were talking about the sleeping arrangements. It was hilarious. Evidently they had 2 guys with them, but they were not their boyfriends. They elected one girl to sleep with the one guy, while the other 2 were sleeping together and I assume the other boy was sleeping on the couch. They talked about how everything would be fine and that he knew she had a boyfriend at home, etc. It was just so comical to listen to. The one girl then proceeded to tell the girls about running into someone she knew at a bar and how he kissed her and she wasn’t sure if she should tell her boyfriend, etc. They all swore her to secrecy about the whole incident. And then the guys showed up. They looked like they were ready to party! Just listening to them all talk was funny and I am sure in my younger years I sounded just as funny. It was good entertainment. Sadly the pool closed and we all had to get out. I headed back to the room and then Cass and I talked into the wee hours of the morning. Ok, maybe not that late, but we talked and laughed and had a great time. Now we were acting like teens! It was a wonderful first full day at the parks and I already learned so much about Disneyland and had seen and experienced so many new things.
