As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

In all our Disney trips, we 've never eaten at Narcoossee's but it's a place that is definitely on my radar for a future trip. Glad you got to enjoy the EWP from there and the ambiance of the GF lobby!
We were up at 7:00, showered and had breakfast. This was a DHS day and we had already decided before leaving the room that we’d change one of our FP. I didn’t want to chance riding RnRC as it is a bit too rough for me these days. And Jeff said he’d be ok with changing it to something we could both ride, so we switched our first FP of the day from RnRC to Star Tours.
We left the room about 8:15 and headed for the bus stop. A bus came at 8:30, but it was very crowded. We both got a seat, but at the Jambo stop we ended up getting up so moms with babies could have a seat.
There was a long line at bag check for DHS. We ended up getting through at 9:10 and stopped for some PP pics several times.
It was hard to pretend being cold!
We headed over to Star Tours and waited for our FP to be ripe. We checked in at 9:30 and had a great ride.
After ST we headed for Voyage of the Little Mermaid. It was another very hot day and any attraction we could do inside was a big plus!
After VotLM, we went to see the Frozen sing along. We’d never done this before, and it was another good place to hide out from the heat for a while. There was a little girl next so me, sitting on her mom’s lap and when they got to “Let it go” she was belting it out just like a little Elsa! OMG! It was so cute! I ended up watching her instead of the show!
After Frozen we walked around a bit looking for a popcorn stand. I love popcorn, but had never had WDW popcorn, so I wanted to try some. We found some near where Starring Rolls used to be, and bought one box. Jeff wasn’t interested. Then we sat under one of the umbrellas and I ate the whole thing! It was yummy!
By then it was time to use our only other FP for the day, Slinky Dog Dash, and we had another great ride!
Before we left TSL I wanted to make sure I got a photo of the little camper, because I’d missed it when we were here before. I just love this!
By the time we were done with SDD we were ready to head out.
There was a boat at the dock when we arrived and we waited a few minutes for folks to disembark.
We took it to the Yacht Club stop where I used the restroom and Jeff took some photos in the lobby.
Then we walked to the Baech Club to relax for 45 minutes before our 1:00 lunch ADR at Beaches and Cream.
WE checked in and were seated at a table a few minutes later. Jeff had a Reuben with fruit and a lemonade, I had a turkey club on GF bread with fruit and a water. We split a brownie sundae for dessert.
While we were there we saw a couple groups order the kitchen sink. Both were small families, (mom, dad and 2 little kids) and both had had a full lunch, so they really didn’t put much of a dent in the giant sundae. Seems such a waste, but who am I to judge?
After lunch we shopped at the Marketplace at Beach Club. They had a nice selection of hats, so we ended up getting three for our Grandkids. Then we walked to Epcot.
We really just popped in to get our free AP cutting boards for making 4 visits to Epcot during F&W.
Then we headed for the bus stop and waited about 25 minutes for a bus. Again the heat was making this into another exhausting day.
We were glad to get back to the resort to relax for the afternoon. And also very happy that we’d decided to switch our ADRs to Boma!
Another rainstorm this afternoon, from 5:00 until 6:00.
A little before 7:00 we headed for the entrance to hop a shuttle to Jambo. Again, the shuttle was very crowded because of all the folks using the pool.
We checked in to Boma and were seated in an area close to the windows. Jeff went up first while I looked at the allergy menu and decided what I wanted to get. I was hoping to get a bowl of the carrot ginger soup we’d sampled the other day, but it was not being served tonight. Instead I got the Mulligatawny Stew which was delicious! My next plate was chick pea and edamame salad, apple and jicama salad and avocado, papaya and grapefruit salad. All were very good!
Then I waited in the long line for the carved meats. I got strip loin, BBQ ribs, and roast turkey along with fufu, kokonut rice, and Durban roasted chicken. Everything was delish! And I was stuffed.
Our server, Paul said he would get me some GF desserts when we were ready, so when we’d had our fill from the buffet, he asked what I wanted, mentioning they had GF zebra domes, coffee tarts, cookies, fruit… I said I was pretty full from dinner, that he should just bring two or three things, and that he could surprise me. He said, “Oh good, I love doing that!”
And this is what showed up!
I said, “OMG, I asked for two or three things!” He said, “Well, I brought you three of each!”
Well, I could only eat a couple things, so I asked for a box. He said "I’m not really supposed to do that, but I’ll get you one." A few minutes later he came back with one of the take out containers we’d seen at Mara and I put everything in there. We took it back to the room and had it with our breakfast.
After dinner we walked outside for a bit, then went back to Kidani and took some photos of the display pieces.
When we got back to the room we started packing.
The weather today was – another hot day, with a rainstorm in the afternoon
The best thing today was – Boma
The worst thing was – the heat
The funniest thing today was – the plates of desserts from Boma
Today we tried – Frozen Sing Along
And the result was – a cute show, but even cuter was the little girl next to me!

The novelty of all the toppings in the kitchen sink is obviously the big attraction, but it’s just so much! You know me - I like ice cream as much as anyone but after everything starts melting together it loses its appeal!
