As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We are planning to get up super early this morning!! As soon as we are dressed and ready Muffin will help me load up the luggage in a taxi or Lyft and I will head over to AKL!! I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT I AM ACTUALLY REALLY STAYING HERE AGAIN!!!!!!
I plan on spending the morning on the Senses of Africa tour!!! This is the description from the website:
An Intimate Journey Behind the Scenes
Get an insider’s look at the sensory experiences that make Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge so special.
The Experience During Sense of Africa, you’ll set out on a 3-and-a-half-hour tour that begins with an introduction to the authentic African storyline of this wildly unique Resort destination—from its art and architecture to the Cast Members who help bring it all to life!
Then, when your early-morning cravings come calling, you’ll be off to breakfast at Boma – Flavors of Africa where exclusive dishes inspired and served by an African Culinary team await! It’s a one-of-a-kind meal that’s sure to satisfy even the most ferocious of appetites.
After breakfast, the tour continues as you climb aboard a private safari vehicle and head backstage where the compassionate Cast Members of the Animal Care staff will lead you through a series of up-close encounters with some of the savanna’s most beloved animals!
Then I am off to Sanaa for lunch!! I am so looking forward to finally eating here!! Muffin cannot really eat much on this menu and I have been trying to get here for the past three trips so this will be my opportunity!! My ADR is at 12:15 PM and by the time I am done eating, Muffin should be heading over to AKL.
We originally had an ADR for the Crystal Palace this evening but that would be silly since we are now planning on AK for our first park together. We will try for FPs somewhere in Pandora, Expedition Everest, and Festival of the Lion King but honestly, I love this Park so much I really don't care what we do!!
We are really hoping to snag an ADR for the Rivers of Light dining package with dinner at Tiffin's this evening. If we are able to get the package, we will be extremely excited!! In any case, we plan to head to AK well before our dinner reservation and stay until after the show!! The park, as of right now, closes at 7:00 PM. We plan to close it down and then head back to AKL.
If we have the energy, we may stop for a nightcap at Victoria Falls. If not, we will just head back to our room and check out the savanna before bed.
Next: Wednesday, November 8th. A full day in the wild!!

Sounds like a great day planned for the AK and the tour sounds like a winner! Glad you'll finally dine at Sanaa as I've been there a few times and really enjoyed it! Hope you get the ROL package as I'm still waiting for these to be released for October as well!

You will be the first to hear about it!!

I hadn't thought of it that way, but you have a delicious point!!. Since we haven't stayed at AKL in a long time, we really wanted to immerse ourselves in it.
Today, we will get up bright and early (or at least I will!!:the wave). I plan on going for an early morning jog first thing and then getting Muffin up when I get back. Hopefully, we will have slept well because we have big stuff in store for the day!!
We will head over to the bus stop around 7:15 AM and we hope to catch the first bus to AK and be there by around 7:45 AM. Today is an EMH day so we will join the line headed to Kilimanjaro Safaris!!
We hope to have a FP for one of the Pandora attractions but in any case, we are so psyched to be touring Pandora!!! We will also try to get FP's for EE and FOTLK for today but honestly, this being my favorite park in the whole world , I will be happy as a clam no matter what we do here!!!
We have an 9:25 AM breakfast scheduled at Tusker House for a nice safari meal with Donald and then we will explore the Park. We may return to AKL for a respite. Whatever we don't get to today, we have another whole day scheduled further on.
For dinner, we have the Savor the Savanna tour booked and this is another experience we are really looking forward to!! It is a pricey tour but I used some dream rewards dollars and a gift card to pay for most of it!! Here is the website description:
See the Savanna in a New Light
Immerse your senses during a privately guided journey and explore the sights and sounds—and tastes—of Africa. Welcome to Savor The Savanna: Evening Safari Experience, an all-new premium tour where you can discover the wonders of the continent’s most amazing creatures… and so much more!
Special Access to the Savanna Your safari begins with a journey deep into the heart of the Harambe Wildlife Reserve. As the evening awakens, you’ll soon find yourself within one of the most secluded and breathtaking private viewing areas the Savanna has to offer.
Listen along as your guide tells tales of the unique residents who inhabit the reserve, and don’t hesitate to ask questions as he or she shares insightful information about the wildlife and the special care they’re provided at Disney’s Animal Kingdom park.
Premium Eats, Drinks and More While savoring the Savanna scenery, you’re invited to indulge in a sampling of African-inspired tapas too, paired with a selection of regional beer and wine offerings.
You’ll even be given a commemorative keepsake you can take home—yet another memory that will live on long after your excursion has ended!
I can't imagine that we will not enjoy this tour!! I am even excited about the commemorative keepsake!!
After our safari, we will head home to AKL for the night!!
Next: Thursday, November 9th. Hooray for Hollywood!!!

Another awesome tour!
I'm trying to decide if we'll even go over to the Pandora area....there are 5 hour waits this morning, less than an hour after opening. I've never seen the movie, so hadn't been too excited about the addition - even though all I've seen looks amazing. But I do worry about the crowd levels - especially if we're using DH's wheelchair then.
