Eight is Enough - A July 2014 TR with cousins, club level and more Updated 3/29 DHS and Frozen Fun - Page 16 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Looks like you're having great fun at AK. Sounds like the rain came at just the right time for a break!
Yes, it was definitely time to take a break from the rain.

Love the photo with Olaf! I had no idea they had this one.
As for my next trip, I don't think we'll be going in 2015. Budget wise, it seems highly impossible with 2 of my boys graduating. But I am already planning our trip for 2016. I'm hoping to go at the end of June, beginning of July.
I love the Olaf picture. I just kept asking everyone for magic shots and I got some really cool ones. I understand, it is very expensive. We are only going back next year because of DVC and our AP's. Maybe we will have to book for 2016 to meet you. Where do you think you will stay?

Funny - we were on the safari for the downpour!!! It was crazy!
April should be nice. I've been in May (years ago) and really liked it. So cool that Em will get to be in Disney for her bday.

Loved the butterfly magic shots! Glad you were easily able to switch your days around to take advantage of refurb schedules!
Wow, sorry to hear about your experience at BOG. Do you think you will try it again?

Not if I can help it... I also had lunch there a trip or two before and wasn't impressed with my dry sandwich. There are so many other great places at WDW that I'd return to or still want to try to be bothered to try to fight the crowds for that one. We were also sat a good 30-45 mins after our ADR so it was just kind of bad all around. I was happy to finally get my picture with the Beast tho!

I can't say I blame you. I think we will give dinner another try in June, but only because the place is so beautiful and the kids really liked their dinner. We did try lunch another day and we all hated it.
After a great day at AK, we headed back to the resort. We were hoping for some pool time, but that never happened since the rain never stopped.
Instead, we hung out in my sister’s room. My sister napped while everyone else watched Wreck it Ralph. Aidan and I started getting antsy. I get bored easily and don’t really like hanging out in the room. I feel like I’m wasting precious Disney time.
Aidan, Shea, Jared, and I decided to spend some time checking out the resort. We looked around a little and then got some snacks. Jared got a chocolate chip muffin which he loved. Shea and Aidan got Mickey and Minnie cookies. I think they were gingerbread and were not very good. I also got a Minnie one for Brianna and took it back to her later.
Jared decided to go back up to the room while Aidan, Shea, and I headed to Zawadi Marketplace at Jambo. We didn’t find anything we wanted to buy, but had fun just looking around.
When we got back to Kidani, the CM’s were having a musical demonstration. Aidan and Shea joined in the fun.
After our break, we freshened up and headed back to AK for dinner at Rainforest Café. We were really looking forward to this meal after our wonderful dinner together there in 2012.
We got to the restaurant and had to wait a few minutes before we were seated. We passed the time in the gift shop.
Shortly after we were seated, the waitress came around and took our drink orders. I’m not sure what everyone else got, but I know I got a Margarita and either DSis or DBil got the Green Python.
my Margarita
Green Python
I don’t have notes from this day, but judging from the pictures, here’s what we ordered:
Aidan got a hot dog.
Brianna got the Pita Quesadillas.
Shea got the Macaroni and Cheese.
Jared got the Jungle Streak and Shrimp with coconut shrimp skewers instead of the shrimp scampi.
Yvonne got a salad specially made for her.
I got the Awesome Appetizer Adventure.
Will and Brian got the Pastalaya with rice instead of linguine.
Although the food was great, the whole experience was a little disappointing. It was nothing like the last time we were there. The waitress was not great. She was rushing us the whole time, brought my sister out the wrong dish which contained garlic (remember she’s allergic), thought it was funny when we told her she’d made a mistake, and was annoyed anytime we asked her for anything. She even brought out the check without asking if we wanted dessert (which by the way we did).
I’m not sure if maybe our 7:45 p.m. ADR was too late, but I felt rushed the entire time. They even started sweeping and cleaning up the restaurant while we were still eating. It’s not like we were the only people there.
Don’t get me wrong, it was not a terrible dinner, but I don’t think this restaurant will be on our ADR list for next time. I think we will take a break. There’s a Rainforest Café about an hour from where we live and we will just stick to that one for now. There are too many other restaurants we want to try in WDW.

Ok Liz, I indeed think that we are twins separated at birth. I also get antsy being in the room. Why would I want to be relaxing in a room at Disney when there is so much to see and do.
Sorry your dining experience at Rainforest Café was not good. I've never eaten there but would like to try it sometime. Cleaning the dining room and bringing out the check without asking for dessert was kind of rude.
Sorry your Rainforest Cafe experience didn't live up to your expectations. We've had a few bad waitress experiences there and have crossed it off our list of places to eat at WDW since there are so many other great places to choose from!
Sorry Rainforest was not what it should have been! I hate that rushed feeling. Not cool!!! We've been at restaurants where they have started closing procedures well before time to close and it is a bit annoying.
I am like you, when I am Disney, I want to be going and doing. Sitting in the room I get a tad bit ansy too! I feel like I am wasting my money!!!

Sorry dinner was disappointing - we haven't been there in years - we tend to try to stay away from the "chain" restaurants while on vacation - just our opinion - as there are so many other yummy places we can't get near home
