Escaping The Brutal Northeast For Sunny, Warm Florida and Fun! Completed 7/12 - Page 16 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Welcome! We're happy you've found the PassPorter Community -- the friendliest place to plan your vacation to Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland, and the world in general! Glad you managed to do so much despite the rain. Nothing you can do to fight it when it rains so hard you're sloshing though ponded water in the parks!
I did get a lot done and especially before the rains really started coming down!
You describe this so well Laurie and that's exactly how it was! I expect a water park at BB or TL and not Studios! I guess I was wrong on this day!

Signing on! I'm curious to see how your energy holds up, your plans have you hopping!
You have me really wishing I had got over to POR and POFQ on my July trip. I love the big outdoor verandas on the POR resort buildings...And walk from DHS to BC? Boat from POR to DTD? There's a lot I missed on my trip. My next trip needs a 1 theme park day to 2 resort hopping days ratio!

Sorry for the rainy day at DHS! Great pictures from your adventures! You made the best of the rain (thank goodness for FP+)!
The rain was a bit ridiculous to say the least for a few hours on my first day! Always, good to make an unpleasant situation into a good one (rain).

I had never heard an announcement at WDW before like that, but had one at Universal once, where we were stuck inside the Dudley Do Right's Ripsaw Falls ride for about 45 minutes during a bad thunderstorm. It finally opened back up! It was a fun day at Studios, but wish I was able to do a bit more as the rain prevented that somewhat!

The rain was some of the heaviest I've ever witnessed. Overall, it was a good time at Studios!

Those verandas are quite nice, even though they're not private as in the deluxe resorts. Walking from Studios to the BC will take about 20 minutes and is probably as fast as taking the boat with the stops! Although, the boat would be the better way to go after a few hours in the park. It's always a lot of fun to take the boat to DTD from here. The lines can be a bit long from the Port Orleans resorts in the early evening as many people are doing the same thing. The boats run frequently, so you just be patient!

Disney's Best FAB and Epcot!
Saturday, March 29 (Part V)
To say it was wet today in Studios was a mass understatement! I think I only experienced rain like this in Disney one other time and that was on one of the golf courses a few years ago. But that only lasted about fifteen minutes and today’s rain was quite constant.
I walked back to my room in Alligator Bayou from the North Depot and it was barely raining now. I took a quick shower as I was a bit cold from all of the rain in Studios. When I got back to the room Mousekeeping had put the AC on and that was not a welcoming feeling. It usually is but not this time, so I put the heat on. I did a bit more of unpacking and got everything ready for tomorrow as I don’t want to do that when I return at night or in the morning. Tomorrow, I would be playing my first round of golf over at the Magnolia course near the Magic Kingdom.
I left my room for the North Depot at about 4:15 pm for Epcot and my ADR at Monsieur Paul in France. This would be my first time eating at this restaurant since the change from Bistro de Paris, so I was definitely looking forward to it.
A bus finally arrived after 15 minutes and it was on to Epcot after a few more stops within Riverside.
From the bus on the Riverside grounds
Arrived in Epcot at about 4:45 and wanted to take a look at a lot of the topiary for this years Flower & Garden Festival. While, I have very little knowledge of these things I still enjoy all the beauty that Disney has on display in Epcot.
It was still cloudy, but at least it was no longer raining.
I this one of Goofy!
Never get tired of taking photos of this!
A trip to Disney would not be complete without a visit here....
...and a bit of Beverly, The Official Beverage of Epcot and everyone’s favorite! I can’t get enough of it!
My boy Goofy is having a ball!
So beautiful!
Canada Pavilion in World Showcase
Easy photo as he never moved!
Now we’re in England! Could have done without the strollers.
Eeyore and Piglet anyone?
On the bridge, just before arriving in France!
I arrived in France and now had one mission....head for the Les Vins de France kiosk for a Grand Marnier Orange Slush!
Mission accomplished! These are so good and my favorite specialty FAB in Disney! You just can’t beat them!
With my FAB in hand I went over to Morocco for some entertainment. I still had a good 30+ minutes until my ADR at Monsieur Paul.
On display in one of the Morocco shops
More beauty at the F&G Fest.
The minaret in Morocco
Back to France!
These manicured, sculpted and shaped hedges resemble those in Versailles on a smaller scale
Maybe one of the best designed character topiaries this year!
It was after 6 pm and my ADR for Monsieur Paul was just minutes away now, No worries as I was close by in France. I’ve only been in the World Showcase for about an hour, but the crowd level certainly has picked up. I’m sure it will be even more so after dinner as will the alcohol level of some attendees as Illuminations nears.
NEXT: Dinner in France and Change of Plans!

Wow, that was such a miserable looking day with all those clouds.
And as for anyone for Eeyore and Piglet - I'll take Eeyore but I'm not sure DH will take Piglet!
It was quite a dreary day but still had a great time!
Why am I not surprised about you and Eeyore?

That sure was a dreary day. It looks like it should be winter in a colder climate that WARM SUNNY Florida. Oh well, you were making the best of situation. Looking forward to the dinner review.
