Mom & Me, Work & Fun PTR (Sept. 7-14, 2013) - Page 16 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Thanks everyone for the pixies for my mom. I talked to her just a bit ago and she is a little sore but said she thinks she is pretty much okay. She is planning to see the chiropractor on Monday and then again after the trip, just to make sure everything is well adjusted. But she seems to be fine. She will be dropping her car off to get it fixed on the Friday before we leave (it is still drivable). Thanks for the pixies!

Being in the mountain time zone makes ADR's not so fun. I did get up and got everything booked and went back to bed.

I got everything I wanted and at the moment until I can talk to Pat I have some technical double bookings (I don't usually do this, but I was able to get BoG and we didn't really have it on our list, but I loved it). It changes 2 of the days and I booked things about 1 1/2 hours apart and once I talk to him to finalize I will cancel the ones we don't need. I know our trips are almost timed the same. Too bad we can't meet in Feb. and you could meet the whole family.

Sounds like you got a busy week, starting with a super early morning.
She does use a scooter so that will help some if she does have some residual pain, but it sounds like she is doing pretty good. Just glad it wasn't more serious.

I did get everything we wanted and I booked a couple extras, I need to talk to Pat about possible changes to squeeze in BoG.
I have so much fun posting updates, I'm just going to keep you up-to-date on my pre-trip progress.
Today I got up at 3:45 and drug my butt out of bed and let the puppy out to go potty. I booted up the computer and got on the Disney World site and booked all of my ADR's. I got everything I wanted at the times I was wanting. I was back in bed by 4:30a.
I woke back up at about 8am and realized I hadn't even checked to see if BoG was available. Pat and I decided awhile ago that we didn't want to stress about getting an ADR and we would try somewhere new instead. Well, I couldn't help myself and got out of bed and checked to see if anything was available. Well, the newness must be wearing off because I could pretty much pick any time during our trip that we wanted. I decided to move a few things around and temporarily had ADR's at very close times (like 12/1:30 and 5/6:30) until Pat could get on FB. We discussed it and added BoG. That is all I'm saying about our ADR's until my next PTR.
It was already very hot outside by the time I finished all this and I decided to wait to take the trash to the dump on Tuesday instead. So, I got busy cleaning. I ended up watching The Princess Bride with the kids last night and got nothing done. So today I cleaned, vacuumed and mopped the front room. Cleaned and vacuumed the living room, worked on laundry (which had a huge wrench thrown in more in a minute). I also cleaned and vacuumed the hall.
I thought I had the laundry fairly caught up, when Hunter came out of his room and said he had no pants. This didn't make sense, considering I had the laundry caught up. I knew right away what was going on. Hunter takes the easy way out of chores often and I knew that over the last week, instead of hanging his laundry up, he shoved it under his bed. Went and checked and there is probably two weeks worth of laundry under the bed. It's all wrinkled and you can't tell what's clean or dirty, so I have spent the day re-washing all his clothes. I will sit and watch him hang them up this time.
Shana's room is pretty clean, I will have her vacuum it tomorrow.
Today was a very productive day and I stayed busy. I can't believe that at this time next week I will probably be heading to sleep in my happy place.
Glad you got BOG again for Feb. I'll be trying it for the first time next week! Sounds like you got a lot done around the house, including way too much laundry!

I'm glad to hear it sounds like your mom is ok. We loved BoG too, so I'm glad you were able to add it on the list for Feb. Good thing you were able to get all the ADRs you wanted considering you have to get up so early to make them. I always forget about the time zone differences, that's a bit of the pits!
Congrats with BoG! Sorry about doing more laundry when you thought you had it done. That is...yuck! One more week!!!!!
Hunter does this every so often where he hides all his clean clothes. It drives me nuts because I do laundry daily so I don't have much to do on the weekends.

I was excited, considering I didn't even check until about 10am Eastern time. I hope you like it, we really enjoyed it and felt the portions were perfect! I did get a ton done yesterday, hoping to finish up today.

I usually do laundry on a rotating schedule on a daily basis (darks-Mon, lights-Tues, darks-Wed, lights-Thurs, whites-Fri) I typically strip Shana's bed Monday, Hunter's Wed and ours on Thurs. So normally I have 1-2 loads a day. I hate having to spend a whole day doing laundry. So it was no fun!

She seems to be doing okay and should be good to go for the trip. I was thinking we would just try for CS in Feb at BoG, but when I checked and saw we had plenty of options, I looked at what we could move around. I just didn't want all our ADR's to have to work around it. The time difference does stink! But ya gotta do what ya gotta do!
