A DREAM is a wish your heart makes – a First-time Cruise pre-trip report complete On the cruise ! - Page 16 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I fell behind on here, but I've kept up on FB! I'm so glad everything has been going well with Kindergarten and with your dad too. Congrats on getting BLT! I think we're going to try to stay there on our next trip just for the convenience of being so close to MK.
I've already told you this, but YAY on BLT coming through!!! While you're walking back, I'll be the one with the frowny face while waiting in line for bus.
Another great movie night. Congrats on BLT. I have no idea about the walk, but when in doubt bring a stroller. At least that's what I've been doing lately. I just kind of always have it with. Plus aren't you driving anyways? Just bring it!
I've been very sporadic with my board reading this summer (4 kids have had me in the go), but we will be on your cruise with you! I think this is one of the few times my vacation has crossed with another PP (that I know of). We have a verandah room, and we have Palo brunch reservations on the At Sea Day as well! My daughter Elizabeth is the same age as your youngest...her birthday is Oct 1 and she will be 3. We have also been working in the potty training. I think she's got it now (#2 took awhile), but I booked her in the nursery just in case she can't physically do everything herself.
Happy belated birthday, and hooray for the wait list coming through!
Hope your dad continues to do well in his treatment.
And congrats on getting through Dylan's first day of kindergarten!!
2 months... Ahhh!
Great picture of you and Mike and Dylan at the game!
Thanks Kenny! I'm getting good at taking pics of us with one hand!

I'd say it's a tad longer than the walk from BW to Epcot, but shorter than the walk from BW to the Studios. It's so great at night not to have to wait with the mobs for a bus or monorail. Just to save walking, it might be a good idea to take the monorail to get to MK and then walk home.
Thanks for the info on the walk Laurie! And we plan to take the monorail to the party and walk home. The monorail is a ride in itself right?!

It was pretty cool to watch one of the best players out there right now.

Thanks! And good luck with BLT next time. October is a rough time for DVC - F&WF is soo appealing to us!

We are driving, but you know how much space strollers take up! It'll probably come down to what will fit in the car.

That's so exciting! We must all try to at least get together to say hi and maybe have a drink or something. #2 took a while too, but he's doing really well. The most trouble he has is pulling his pants back up.

congrats on WL for BLT. I have always wanted to be able to just walk back from the MK (or Epcot) but have never been able to afford the deluxe resorts.
Thanks everyone for all the birthday wishes, checking on my Dad and seeing about Dylan's first day of school!
Dad has had two treatments and so far so good! Saw him today and he looked the same and acted fine too.
Dylan's first 2 days of school were a success! His teacher called Friday afternoon to say he was doing "fantastic" and was a "real leader". Now why can't he be as good at home as he is at school?!
Weekend was full of themed dinner and more birthday stuff. Pictures later (for those on on FB).

Saturday was Mike’s birthday and fittingly we went to an international soccer match that was held here at home. Even though the team Mike was rooting for lost we still had a great time watching Real Madrid and Inter Milan. This was also Dylan’s first professional soccer game (Lukas stayed home with my Mom).
I asked on FB about costumes and everyone had great ideas (lots of PP peeps too) – Beauty & the Beast with Lumiere & Cogsworth (which was my brothers idea and would have been awesome!), Wreck-it Ralph characters, etc. I compiled a list and asked the boys their opinion. Lukas wants to be Hulk and Dylan wants to be a Ninja Turtle. I’ve convinced myself Star Wars would be best as we already have everything we need for them so now it’s on to convincing the little boys. I’m sure I’ll figure something out.
I did receive some good news today. Our waitlist for BLT came through! We’re staying there for the 2 nights after the cruise. I am looking forward to just walking back to the resort instead of waiting in line for a bus. For those that have stayed there – how long is that walk? Because I’m debating on whether or not to bring a stroller with us or just rent when we need it.
2 months from right now we'll be sailing on the Dream!!!
So glad I found my way back to your PTR For some reason, it wasn't coming up on my list of new posts. Anyway....a belated . Great updates with the boys (zoo etc.) Um - can you come and help me with crafts? If you have seen all my pinterest fails, you'd know I'm all thumbs
I will PM you my email - thanks for offering to share your creativity with the meals!
The walking path from MK front gates to the lobby of the Contemporary took about 15 minutes when we had the double stroller with the little boys and Nolan walking. It went faster when we had all the kiddos in a stroller. It wasn't as long as the walk from the Beach Club to Epcot (or so it seemed). Patrick still has trouble going long periods without having a seat in the stroller - even though I'm valiantly (meanly in his mind) trying to wean him away from riding at all.
Patrick's first day is Wednesday and I've been told we can walk them up to the teacher, give a quick hug and wave and "watch from the windows" as the little ones are led into the building. Hopefully, I can hold it together. I can still vividly remember sobbing as I drove away after dropping Nolan off first his first day of Kindergarten.
