Brent and Liz's Valentine's day/Anniversary TR: Slippers, Satchels, Special Cinderellas, Surprises, Friends...and Ducks? - UPDATED 3/24 COMPLETE! - Page 16 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Ok, so I know this was our "Anniversary" vacation TR. BUT.............TODAY is officially our anniversary. 3 years ago I married the love of my life and best friend. I didn't think it was possible but I love him even more today than the day we got married. I'm not going to lie and say that there haven't been bumps in the road....(oh Lord knows some days I wanna kick his butt!!!) LOL Or that admittedly, from both of us, blending families has not had a monstrocity of issues associated with it. But, all in all, big picture......I love him more every day. I love his Cinderella obcession, I love his love of Disney, I love his silliness, I love his grouchiness........I love that he is mine!!
Happy anniversary---Liz & Brent. I have really enjoyed getting to know you both through your TRs. I can see the devotion you share. Keep up the good work.
Friday Feb 10. Crystal Palace/ MK in the morning. Epcot and Garden Grill in the evening . . . .
Arose early in this morning and hopped on a bus bound for the MK to have breakfast at Crystal Palace. I knew a Tink meeting was in the offing today so I reluctantly donned my Tinker bell shirt. Most likely the only time this whole trip I didn’t wear a shirt without Cinderella gracing it. I was very uncomfortable about this. Here’s what I look like in it:
Anyway, Here we are getting in the park early and walking down a nearly deserted Main Street.
Crystal Palace was a blast as always. During the parade, Pooh almost ran over a little boy right in front of us. Oopps! Here’s a few pictures of our breakfast experience:
After we finished eating we headed to meet Tink because she was just opening up and the lines were short. When we were standing in line who did we meet but our old friend Beverly! She used to work in the Toontown tents with the Princesses. She orchestrated our first picture with all the Princesses about two years ago. Hugs were exchanged and we were able to chat a bit while in line.
She introduced us to the other people in line as her ‘regulars’. “They always seek me out when they come here!” I hope she goes back to the Princesses when the new Fantasy land opens. Then it was on the meeting with Tink. It was Terrence this time!
Liz was very excited about meeting him. He loved our photo books too. Now if you’ll notice in these pictures, you can see my backpack pretty well. This is my Disney bag. Somehow I am responsible for carrying all our books, shirts to sign, spare phone batteries, key to the world cards, snacks, and whatever else. It is a Bagellini Messenger. (Light blue and signed by Cinderella of course!) Liz noticed Terrence has a Satchel. She looked at my Bagellini and says something to the effect of she liked his Satchel and I should get something like that instead of my PURSE!. I told her it wasn’t a purse, my bagellini is a SATCHEL! Terrence even agreed with me. Liz got a chuckle out of it though, Sighhhh.
Tink was next. She loved my shirt!
She was very energetic and likable. The perfect Tink.
Then we saw Jasmine and Aladdin outside so we visited with them for a few minutes.
We didn’t get a picture but it is worth noting Jasmine wouldn’t let me get away without a hug. Then we rode Pirates, and Haunted mansion and a few others. Then it was on to see the Princesses Aurora was first. She was just a beautiful Sleeping Beauty.
I was positive she was the one that insisted we get a group picture last August. What do you guys think:
I sat out the meeting with Belle.
After the last one when they read their books and ignored me I was giving them the silent treatment! Then it was on to see Cindy and I was VERY apologetic about not having her on my shirt.
She was very comforting and told me she understood. She says something like: “ Tink can be very feisty sometimes, it’s best to keep her happy. Besides I know how you feel about me!” And with that she took my hand, had me set my purse – err SATCHEL! down and gave me a hug.
Wow! Could she have handled that with any more class or grace? She also said something like she saw us a few days ago and was hoping we were enjoying our adventure here. Looking back I think she is the first Cinderella we saw our first morning at the Magic Kingdom. How sweet she remembered.
After I had gathered myself from that wonderful encounter with Cinderella we headed back to the resort to do laundry and enjoy some pool time. Turns out a rain shower chased us away from the pool and Liz wore my crocs back to the room. Liz is very funny about people wearing her shoes, so I had to give her a hard time about that. Anyway, the rain stopped so I went back out to soak up a bit more sun and keep an eye on the clothes. We then got ready to head to Epcot for our dinner at Garden Grill. I chose to wear my shirt with only Princess Aurora on it, just to see if I could make it a full day in Disney World without wearing a shirt exclaiming my devotion to my beloved Cinderella. That, and I thought we would have a much better chance of seeing Princess Aurora at Epcot than Cindy. So off we went to Epcot. We headed to See Princess Aurora first as we had some time before dinner. What can I say about this encounter? She was so sweet and soooo beautiful.
She acted genuinely touched to see herself (and only her) on my shirt. She talked with me a good 5 minutes. Asked me where I was from and if there were any dragons there? I told her Michigan and I was afraid her Prince Phillip had me beat in the slaying dragons department because there weren’t any dragons in Michigan. She looked at me and smiled. “Well the reason there are no dragons in Michigan must be because you are so strong and brave. You scared them all away. Then she leaned in and gave me the sweetest hug. Then she continued to hold me close and said we should turn to the camera to make sure they get a good picture. She was sooo classy and sweet. I was quite overwhelmed.
It was at this point I realized three or 4 people we did not know had walked up and started taking pictures. The cast members asked if they were with us then made them stop taking pictures when we told them they weren’t. That was a bit unusual. Terrific encounter with Princess Aurora though. Then we made our way around the world and saw Snow White. Snow said she remembered us from Norway the other night. She was sooo glad to see us again. She remembered I had Cinderella on my shirt the other night, now Sleeping Beauty. Then she looked at me as if she was implying ‘when do I get my own shirt?’
Then we saw Mulan:
She remarked I must be a strong and brave warrior. Otherwise I certainly wouldn’t be wearing a pink shirt!
Ahh good times. On to dinner: We have never had dinner at the Garden Grill before and I must say it was a great time. It was neat meeting Farmer Mickey:
And the other characters:
One of the chipmunks started dancing with me, and you all know me! I would NOT be upstaged. I think I danced pretty well.
Hmmmm. So far on this trip: Two dances with Cinderella. One dance with my lovely wife, and now a dance with a chipmunk. Hmmmmmm. Is that a bit disturbing or what?
After dinner we rode Soarin cuz our Fastpasses were good, then we headed out. Another great day!
Next: Back to Epcot for lunch at Akershus, then dinner at O’hanna. We find out who this lady is (don’t tell Cindy!)
And we find out why Liz is doing this!
And later, we find out why slippers are a part of the title, and the most unbelievably memorable Valentine's day. I was told I was the envy of every man at 1900 Park Fare.
Stay Tuned!
Brent

Great update! Super princess encounters again! You bring out the best in these lovely ladies! Stefanie loves Garden Grill and it is on her must-do list every trip. Your breakfast at CP also got me excited about ours in June. We've had lunch and dinner there, but never breakfast.
Just another quick update. Here are a few pictures from our actual anniversary (Teusday, Mar 13) We had a nice dinner and Liz was the proud recipient of some Cinderella blue colored roses:
Try as I might I couldn't get a picture that showed the light blue color of the roses very well, but they were really quite pretty.
