As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Nice Update... i saw the gingerbread house in Libery Inn in 2007. The gingerbreads they were selling were yummy. Did you get to listen to the VOL. They are part of my must do when there.

Tuesday 22 December – part seven: “can you seat a table of four?”
As we rounded the Christmas tree, we saw Mickey and Minnie Mouse in their Christmas gear doing photos in front of the tree, so we had to stop for that, especially as we were early for dinner.
I heard a Cast Member tell a family behind Mark that the wait would be about 30 minutes, but to be honest, it was nowhere near that bad, probably about 15 minutes or so, although the line was quite something and snaked quite a distance around the lobby.
While we were waiting, we got a call from Bruce and Marta, who were waiting for us upstairs by Citrico’s, so as soon as we were done with Mickey and Minnie, we went off to find them.
I had earlier texted them to suggest that we try to see if we could get into Narcoosee’s as a table of four, as we already had a booking there for the two of us. Bruce and Marta had managed to get a table for the four of us at about the same time for Citrico’s, but we hadn’t had a good experience there a couple of years ago and we really wanted to go back to Narcoosee’s, as we hadn’t eaten there in a few years now.
Bruce, Mark and I went to see what we could do, as Marta was still getting over a cold and didn’t want to go out in the cold, unless it was necessary. I checked us in and very nicely asked if our friends could join us. The guy kept asking us whether they were really good friends or not and I kept saying yes, then he said “well, in that case, sure I can get them in”. He told us that it would be a couple of minutes, so I rang Marta to tell her, but got her voicemail, so Bruce went to get her and eventually I managed to get through to her to tell her what was going on.
As we waited, we saw the chefs with something that looked amazing, so we got some photos. It turns out that it was the snapper and immediately I decided not to get that, as there was no way that I wanted my dinner looking at me. :
I wandered outside to get some photos and, as I did, we were called to our table.
Still no sign of Bruce and Marta, so I went ahead and got seated. I was shown to our table by a Cast Member who was on only his second day. He told me that, although he had lived in Orlando for six years, he had never even been to Disney before starting work here. Unbelievable.
Literally, just after I sat down, the others all joined me and we all commented that the place didn’t seem to be that busy, which surprised us, as Bruce and Marta had tried to get us a table for four in there and couldn’t.
We all had appetisers, with Mark going for the fried Rhode Island calamari with pepperoncini relish, tomato coulis and extra virgin olive oil and me going for the crispy crab cakes with southern slaw and Cajun Remoulade sauce, as I remembered them being excellent from the last time we were here. I wasn’t mistaken either, although I only got two – I could swear that there were more last time, but despite that, they were both superb. Mark told me that his calamari was pretty hot, so I’m glad that I didn’t get that. I tried one piece without the sauce on it and it was perfectly cooked.
For main course, I went for the grilled Loch Duart salmon, with laughing bird shrimp risotto, brandy-truffle reduction, but without the pancetta. Mark had the surf and turf, twin medallions of fillet mignon, butter-poached rock lobster tail, potato gratin, broccolini and Choron sauce. He obviously enjoyed it, as he told me that the beef was the best he’d had so far on property, although the lobster was a little tough and having tried a bit of it, I would agree with that comment. My salmon was first class and the risotto was just the right size. When I finished it all, I just felt comfortably full, which is always a good sign.
For dessert, Mark had the key lime crème brulee and I knew that he really enjoyed it, as there was absolutely nothing left on his plate at the end of the meal. I went for the warm Valrhona chocolate cake finished with orange sauce, but it didn’t live up to my expectations and was nowhere near as good as the one at the California Grill. I felt it was far too rick and it was the only bit of the meal that disappointed me.
The service was fine, but nothing special and the fact that Mark had to ask for a refill of his water wasn’t good.
All in all, I’m really glad that we got to go back here, as the food always delivers and fortunately, this time we didn’t have any issues with kids running around, as we had the first time we visited, which spoilt our meal that time.

After we finished eating, it was time for Wishes, so Bruce, Mark and I went outside to watch it, that’s one of the things that I love about this place, being able to watch it from here. Although we had already seen Wishes a couple of times from the Contemporary, I love getting shots where you can see fireworks over the water. That’s somehow so much more magical for me as a photo.
When the fireworks were done, we went back to our tables and set there talking for a while. We ended up being one of the last tables to leave the restaurant and felt in no hurry to go. It had been a great meal.
We rescued our car from valet, ensuring that Bruce and Marta were able to use our Tables in Wonderland card for their valet parking too. We said our goodbyes to them. I was very happy that we’d been able to arrange a meal with them this trip. Then it was back to the Beach Club and off to bed.
The weather today was in the mid 60s and dry and sunny. The best thing today was dinner at Narcoosee’s. The worst thing today was not being able to see the American Idol Experience. Today we tried going back to the San Angel Inn And the result was it’s improved a lot since our last visit. The most magical moment today was walking on to Toy Story Mania.
