As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Even with all that rain it sounds like you both had a great time and hit all your must-do's. I am keeping my fingers crossed that you had some sunshine when you woke up.

It sounds like you two had a great time despite the rain. It makes me want to have one on one trips with my girls. My DH is going take our olds out this summer. I am going to try to do something with our youngest while they are gone.
I really enjoyed this 1/1 trip!

The rain definately scared people off...
That's a shame Dillon was hard on himself at the AA. I could totally see my Abby being the same way.
He is always so hard on himself....

But really, you don't like french fries?
I know, I Philharmagic! And for french fries, I just don't care for them- I don't hate them or think they taste aweful- but I'd just assume have fries as I'd have green beans- I can take them or leave (and unless I'm really really hungry, I generally leave them).....

The sun definately came out the next day (but with it came more people)!
Saturday March 13th
This morning we slept a little later. We woke up at 6:45am, got ready quickly and headed for breakfast at the food court. The good thing about sleeping in is the food court was fully open- so I was able to have that French toast I had been wanting. By 7:15am we were eating breakfast. Dillon had a cinnamon roll and a side of bacon. I had the French toast with sausage. (Our total was $10.41) We had a note on our door this morning saying that DME didn’t have our flight information and we needed to call for our pick up time. I called the number provided and we were told our pick up time would be for 9:45am the next morning.

We headed to the bus stop just shy of 8am and walked up to a waiting bus. The driver asked us if we had a character breakfast scheduled. When we told him no, he wanted to know if we realized the parks didn’t open till 9am. I told him yes, I knew that. The entire bus ride he told us how we should have went to the Studio’s for EMH and that we were going to be waiting a long time, bla, bla, bla…. He was VERY nice and friendly but I was surprised that he was so surprised that we wanted to be at the parks early. We had the bus to ourselves- literally. He dropped us off at Epcot at 8:15am and we headed for the entrance. It was 45 minutes before park open and there were PLENTY of other people already there also. But all the people were in the two lines to the far right. I asked a CM if all the other turnstiles would be opening at the same time and he said yes. So, we were first in line for our turnstile!
**Dillon waiting for the gates to open, at the front of the line**
About 8:45am they started letting people in and we were among the first people to enter the park. Of course they had everything roped off once you got to Innovations.
**The cool topiaries, I just zoomed in while waiting for park to open***
We were the second people to make it to the ropes. Before long the folks from Soarin’ came over and said we all had to stay behind them while walking to Soarin. On the walk there two teenage girls and one lady managed to get in front of us, but that was it… We were numbers 4 and 5 in line for the first ride! We got front/top row and I was excited about this! I love this ride!! I wish I could just ride it over and over! After we rode, we checked the stand by time and it was listed at 30 minutes, so we just got fast passes that were good for 10:45am.
Next, we headed to Journey In to Imagination with Figment. We walked right on and we were literally the only ones there. After the ride, we had the play center to ourselves also. Dillon enjoyed turning his self into an animal and making music in Figment’s studio. We looked around the gift shop, but didn’t see anything that we needed.

Great morning!! Yummy breakfast.....and opening a park!!! I am soooo jealous-I really want to do that someday! and getting on Soarin' first....awesome!
Yes, it was! And it didn't hurt that Epcot is our favorite park

I've never seen the bird on TSMM before. Very cool!
So sorry the animation academy didn't go well.
Can't wait to read more!
Thanks! I think the bird is the lowest animal/score you can get

We don't have any problems making park opening, but we have tremendous trouble making park close/ night time shows It would be nice if we could find a balance and pull off a little of both...
Saturday March 13th Continued:
Next we headed for Innovations. There were a few people in here, but not many. Usually, I take a seat in Innovations while the kids play and I just move my seat depending on what game they are doing. Well with Dillon being the only kid this trip, I got to play the games and they were pretty cute. (But I must say, I did miss my break of sitting) We played the House on fire game and it was fun. We played the piggy bank game and it was fun. We also decorated the Velcro frogs. We did this last time and Madilyn has the frogs all over the roof of the van and she loves playing with them while were driving. So Dillon and I each made a frog using a ton of accessories to give to her at home. And she was SO glad to see us come home with more frogs and accessories. Dillon played a few video games before we headed over to Mission Space.
The green/mild side only had a 5 minute wait. This is the side we wanted and it was perfect since the orange side was listed at 30 minutes. Dillon and I both really enjoy simulator rides, but I must say it was pretty mild compared to what I remembered. I’d really like to try the orange side one day, but Dillon doesn’t want to. <For reference Test Track was listed with a 50 minute wait, but we didn’t ride it> Dillon spotted a Jedi Mickey in the gift shop that he had to have so we got that ($14.86). Up Next: World Showcase
Saturday March 13th Continued:
It was now right at 11am, so we made a bath room stop and headed into World Showcase. We were in Mexico by 11:15am. We enjoyed looking around the shops. I was surprised when Dillon said he didn’t want to ride Donald’s boat ride- but glad because there was a line for it.
