Jeffrey made me do it, but it’s almost free for our three!! **Updated 5/19** - Page 16 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Getting caught up on reading some reports today and luckily found yours. Sounds like a great trip. In all the times we've gone to CA, we've never done the Hollywood part. Maybe when DS is a bit older we'll fit in a trip to Hollywood...it sounds like a lot of fun.

Great updates! I cant believe I got so behind now! lol! It was great to read them all at once! Your trip seems like so much fun! I wish airfare was cheaper, or we had more money, so we could visit Cali! Either way I am having fun living vicariously through you!
That looked like so much fun. I think it would be wonderful if they did something like that at WDW.
Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Stephanie! I totally agree!

Oh my goodness, Cheryl! It really was a lot of fun. If you go back, you & Mark need to take a trip over there. I can totally see him causing chaos!

Kenny! They were both like two little kids! Kyle was in the middle of saying something at the pump – I went back to look…you can see his dimples. (Probably along the lines...”Enough pictures, Mom!” I know I asked them to stop & look at me in order to take a non-action shot! ) This is the photo that says it all to me though.

Heather!! Your DS would it! I’m sure he’d find being on the upper deck of the bus to be quite the adventure. We really enjoyed the LaBrea Tar Pits. The entire day was fun, yet educational.

Melissa! I’m sure you & Rob will get there one day! With your determination, it’s bound to happen for you two! Give it a few years – your pay will increase with each year you teach and you’ll be able to do it without wondering how you’re going to fund all these trips! It wasn’t until recent years, that we were able to afford to go more often.
We decided to pick up some FastPasses for BTMRR, but on the way we approached PoTC and decided we needed to ride it again!
It was another fun ride and then we went to get the FastPasses for BTMRR. We didn’t have to wait too long for the return time, so we didn’t go too far. We ventured into the Golden Horseshoe as Billy Hill and the Hillbillies was soon to begin. We were early enough and found seats right up front. What a fun show!! We laughed so hard my video even got shaky!
Billy Hill & the Hillbillies – Part III (This one is my favorite of the 3. I enjoy seeing Kyle laugh so hard and you can hear occasional laughter coming from me, as well. From approx 2:30 on still cracks me up!! )
Our FastPasses for Indy had long been ripe, so we headed over there to use them. The themeing in this line was also amazing. There were so many neat things to look at and mess around with – lots of things that Indy encountered during the film.
A sign of warning…
So, we just had to test it! It did something, but I can’t remember what it did exactly.
While we were in line, it broke down twice. (It was broken down quite often while we were there) We weren’t far from the loading area, when it broke down the second time and they decided to close the ride. We all had to exit the queue; however, they did give us a front of line pass to use for any attraction. Of course we all looked at each other and said, ‘Nemo!’ in unison, only to be informed by the CM that was the only attraction we couldn’t use it for. Oh well, we’d make good use of it!
Our BTMRR FastPasses were ready to use, so we went back over there. We got on the ride pretty quick, and it was very similar to the one in WDW, but it was much more jerky. I actually didn’t feel so hot coming off of it, but not bad enough to stop touring. I just wouldn’t go on that again. :
We decided we were going to use our FOL pass for Peter Pan, so we headed towards Fantasyland. Our first stop was Pinocchio’s Daring Journey. It was a fun, quick ride – similar to most rides of this nature.
Then we stopped off at Snow White’s Scary Adventures. The queue was more exciting than the one in WDW, as there was more to look at.
The ride was pretty much identical to the one in WDW.
We finished off the night at attraction #61 Peter Pan’s Flight! We used the FOL pass, so I don’t know what the queue was like. We were allowed to enter using the handicapped entrance. We were instructed to wait on a certain spot and were behind one other group. The ride is pretty much the same – some subtle differences, but essentially the same. It was a bit more choppy than WDW; I’m sure this is due to its age and the increased technology by the time WDW built theirs.
Once we landed, we decided it was time to head out of the park. We stopped to admire the castle.
And, found the center of the park.
Then we grabbed some photos before we left. We really enjoyed the lighting here. It would start at Tink and work its way around Mickey’s head. A touch of magic.
We took the tram back to the lot and arrived at the resort in no time. I uploaded the day’s photos to the laptop, while Jeffrey & Kyle ran to get McDonald’s. Blech!
After dinner, we tried to watch American Idol, but we fell asleep. It had been a fun, yet exhausting day!

Yeas you are right about the age of Disneyland things there are starting to fall apart but it stated to do that when it first open since they didn't have enough time to really make it in good working order. That first day thing started to breakdown and the cement where not fully dry yet. Disney WDW was built in Secert so they really didn't have to rush and they knew what need to be put in. Also since WDW was built druing the time ADA law came into effective they were able to meet the ADA law (somewhat). But it is fun to go to Disneyland since I live out here, I know if I lived in FL I would be going to WDW alot more then I do for our parks.
Thanks for sharing the video of the Hillbillies....love Kyle's laughter and jaw dropping facial expressions! Sorry Indy was down...the theming looked amazing, though. Amazed at how much you accomplished today!
Tick-tock, tick-tock....keep those installments a comin'!

Great Update! I think it's been 4-5 trips back since I've seen Billy Hill & the Hillbillies. They are great! DS is quite the music critic, so we've yet to get him to agree to many musical acts, but I'm hoping that will change on this upcomming trip. Someday, maybe I'll even get him to enjoy Billy & crew with me! Sounds like it was another great day!
