Lies and Deceit - It's What This Trip Was Built On (A CLT Report) - UPDATED 3/9 - Page 16 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I realize it's just a simple typo, but it totally cracks me up -- knowing my dear friend as I do and knowing how important it is that there ARE fans out there....

PS - that was a stinkin' HI-larious update, by the way! I never heard about the Need More Salad lady in the bathroom. And I think you captured my "look what I did" expression with that baby! Best of all... the whole Buzz Lightyear episode where I misled a WHOLE LOTTA people down the wrong chute and then was bested by Sharon ... and by a whopping thousand points!! I couldn't have asked for a better comeuppance!
The funniest part is reading the TRs of people that witness the same situation and have completely different takes on what happened! And they still stay friends!

I take it you're referring to the fact that I actually requested that we sit in different vehicles on Buzz because *someone* has a history of leaving bruises on the people she rides with at Disneyland. Or maybe you're referring to the fact that I actually whupped Karen's butt on Buzz -- and quite handily too!
Oh Karen. I was putty in your hands. I had laughed, I had giggled, and I had snorted my way through your recent, delightfully lengthy update. I got to the end of it and was just wiping away the tears of joy from my eyes when I saw this:

First I was suspicious. Knowing where my loyalties lie, was this little mention directed towards meee? Perhaps wanting to start some good-natured banter about our respective teams? Then I realized - you were just being a really great friend, and providing me with the excuse I've been looking for as to why I haven't updated my TR lately - my obsession with the UNC basketball team (currently ranked 3rd in the country). Thanks pal!
See, you were right, once again. Nothing tastes as yummy as pretentiousness. Just as long as we don't talk about the Matt Doherty era.
Seriously. Your update was fabulous! (and I guess Stanford is pretty good too - I mean, they're not Duke, so they are practically my second fave!) What a great tip from Sharon about hotel pics before 8:00 am. Making a mental note of that one. You really won me over on the GF, too. I've always thought it might be a little too foo-foo for me, but you make it sounds really warm and inviting, even for rednecks like me.
Sounds like there were hijinks and hootenannies all throughout the morning. Space Mountain girly man? Eileen and her "look what I did" face? THE BATHROOM LADY? Priceless.
Glad y'all made it to the WL! Can't wait to hear more!
Absolutely classic! I love the little side stories and jabs at your fellow CLTers. Keep the updates coming at the 3-4 day intervals and you will keep everybody happy indeed.
Sharon and I had the front two seats in front of a family of four with two fairly small kids. Well, our ride was made because of the high pitched squeals coming from one member of that family. With each dip and drop, there was one member of the family screaming like a little girl. And why, you may ask, was this particularly funny? Because the unearthly sounds were coming from the father who was crumpled into his seat in all his 6'2" glory. Good times. Good times. Although when I thanked him for screaming like a little girl and making my ride at the end, he didn't seem too pleased. Hee!
And I didn't know it was "Dad" screaming until we got off. When I learned who the screamer was, I laughed harder.

After all, I smelled lovely, I looked good, I was great company. Why, oh why would she spurn me so? Through tears, I struggled through the ride; the targets blurred by the sad, wet reminders of my friend's betrayal. Because my natural Buzz Lightyear skills are so far superior, I almost beat her anyway. But, she managed to eke out a hollow, bitter victory. But then, in the ultimate act of cosmic justice, Eileen's oh so high score was just edged out by Sharon. Hee! Hee! Hee!
I shall carry that victory in a special place in my heart forever and ever. Because I'm certain it will never happen again.

She was purrr-fect, and I have to say, stardom suits her well.
You're saying I'm hapless? I'm not! Everyone is always telling me how hapfull I am. All. The. Time.

A baby that looked nothing like any of the Passporter babies that might have made sense. And, beyond the fact that Eileen was holding a baby that wasn't there at the beginning of the show, the situation was made more odd by the look on my dear friend's face. She looked at me. Looked at the baby. Pursed her lips. Shot her eyebrows up. Tilted her head to the side. And exclaimed, "Look what I did!" Well played, Eileen. Well. Played. (And, for those of you who think I just slap these trip reports together, I spent about five minutes in the mirror, trying to replicate the exact face before typing the above. It's what makes these trip reports special, people. I'm just saying...)
Just wanted to post the picture of the look on the baby's face again.
Sometimes you get a more interesting show in the cheap seats, Karen.

The best part was that one of the people working at the valet stand was the woman who Jerry had introduced us to the night before. She hollered out, "You're leaving? Jerry will be so disappointed." Oh, Jerry, Jerry, Jerry.
I half expected Jerry to show up and grab onto your leg, begging you to stay.

I literally sat there for what felt like hours with my fist stuffed in my mouth to prevent from laughing. Well, I was done, but my stall neighbor was still mid-process. The noise continued, as I washed my hands, and then there was a brief crescendo of groaning, followed by a deep sigh of satisfaction, and an audible, "Ohhhhh, yesssss." I looked at the woman standing next to me at the sink and said, "She should've stuck with the salad," before I exited the bathroom. Thankfully, when I exited the bathroom, I saw Sharon already out and talking to Eileen. Thankfully, because if she had been making that noise, I couldn't have told the story, and I know y'all would have been disappointed.
I totally missed out on salad lady! And the reason I was already finished was because I didn't need to take care of any business (other than changing shirts). And I guess it's a good thing, because there's no way I could've held in the giggles if I'd heard the ruckus.

... and sometimes you end up with drool on your shoulder....
Great chime in, Sharon! Love that you didn't know about the Girlie Screamin' Dad (until afterwards) and that you weren't present for the Moaning Myrtle at the WL bathroom. (Or maybe that means that it was really KAREN who was making all the ruckus and she was just relaying it to us to make you think it wasn't her...
I think it should just be called Impossible Florida Blue.
Can I get a gallon of that in flat please?
LOVE the pix from the GF!!!
And the stall story....OMG! I just had to stifle my laughter so that the teacher assistant using the computer behind didn't think I was goofing off when I should be working
