What a Wonderful World!!! PTR updated 11/26/2014 - Page 16 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

What a joy to be able to also get time with family before your trip. Loving all of the luggage but for that many nights how are you not supposed to have that much. Great first day on the boat.
First day fun!! I hope Andre did well in the clubs, I have my own youngest who is giving me major potty anxiety. I'm hoping he'll be totally ready by cruise time, but so far #2 has been a big struggle for us!
Love the surprises so far! Can't wait to hear more

Cont’d……. We freshened up a little bit and headed down to our first dinner at Animators Pallete. I was so excited to see the place and meet our servers. Limbert and Marianne met us at our table and I knew they would be goof fun. Marianne quickly got us informed on the wine package, which BTW, I told Arnaud about a few months prior and got no real reaction from him. However tonight he was like………..WOW look at this great deal for a 7 night package!!! So he set us up with that so now we would be good to go with wine for dinner every night!!!
I’m terrible at taking food photos but I do have to say, everything was always usually pretty good. I do know that this night noting jumped out for me on the main menu, so I got something from the lighter side and tonight it was salmon with veggies. Basic, but very good. The kids every night usually had a soup and something else, again, nothing fancy but it suited them just fine.
There wasn’t a show in there tonight, just the gradual changes in color. After dinner we knew we HAD to let the kids to the one thing they were begging for ALL Day!!! Swimming!!!! So we went to the room and changed into our suits and hit the pool deck.
Well as you can see, we had the whole deck to ourselves…………..like for real!!! I didn’t go in tonight because it was a bit windy and I knew the water looked cold, so I let Arnaud take one for the team and they all had soooo much fun! Pinocchio was getting ready to play on the Funnel Vision, so the kids finished up with their swim and I bundled them up on some loungers and we all started watching the film. At one point Arnaud noticed that the Aqua Dunk was running, so I said you bet get to it while there is no line. We sat and watched him go down, but then we didn’t see him return for a while. Turns out her rode that puppy 3 times in a row!!! He said the first time he screamed his head off because it was a bit of a shock, and a little scary. But after that he just said how much fun it was and just kept going. The kids were begging for me to try it too, but I used the whole………..whoops, don’t have my suit on………maybe tomorrow.
We finished watching the movie and decided to call it a night. We got the kids back to the room and settled into their new sleeping arrangements for the next 12 nights. Josie was bursting at the seams with sleeping on the top bunk, while poor Andre was not too happy. After a little TV watching they were out cold. I tried to organize our room and get everything packed and put away. We both were in bed not too long after the kids and finally dozed off in those super comfy beds with sweet dreams of CC the next day!!!
I have to apologize for the short update, I wanted to get this day done so I can move on. We had a stupid crazy week with gym shows, dance recitals, mom's 70th bday party, and last day of school............finally!!! Only to have summer camp starting tomorrow I can now update and post on a more timely fashion!!
Yay - you're on board and ready to set sail! How great that you got the Rainforest Room passes for your whole cruise. I suspect I'll be doing the same thing for me at least two weeks tomorrow!
I'm knew to the whole Rainforest Room, so I'm interested in hearing your take on it. I loved just about everything, BUT the showers never seemed to be working right for me?? I'll get more into that in a later update

IT IS the best feeling??? WHY though?? Much different than just a park vacation, right?

Yeah, I'm still having a hard time trying to understand that. IDK if it was becse of how long the sailing was..........is it like this on a normal 7night?? I wonder?

This was our rule, for us...........I would never leave him in the club for longer than 2 hrs, I would try and make him go #2 before he went to the club, and I would still send him in a pull up...........he was fine with doing #1 on his own, and on occasion #2..........but I just wanted to keep things easy going
Great first day and night! Glad you got good servers-- makes such a big difference. The kids (and Arnaud!) look like they're having so much fun in the pool. I love watching movies on deck. So cool that the pool area was empty and Arnaud got three rides on the aqua dunk!
What a great first day, full of surprises! So nice of Dawn to send you some bubbly, and what a sweet hubby you have getting you those Rainforest Room passes! You weren't kidding about having that pool deck to yourselves, what a great way to end the night.
That's so bizarre to me about the Rainforest Room. I'm positive it wasn't like that on our cruise... maybe they made some changes due to past experiences, but that's a really weird rule to have...
Ok, I'm intrigued about the Rainforest Room and it'll be interesting to see what happened with the showers. I'll be sure to check them out for myself in a few days' time!
I have no idea how I missed your PTR or the start of your TR.
How exciting to do a transatlantic cruise to celebrate your 10 year anniversary!! So happy belated anniversary. My DH and I's anniversary is May 15th and we just celebrated 15 years! Cool that you are also celebrating your 40th! I turned 40 in January and while I wanted to celebrate it in WDW and couldn't I will be celebrating in WDW in October. I hope you celebrated like crazy girl!!!!
Looks like the cruise started off great! Everything just looks amazing and the kids look like they were having the time of their lives!
Can't wait for more!!!!

Wonder why the pool deck was so empty?! I assume the kid to adult ratio was lower than some cruises since school was still in session for most.
Fun night!
I'm going to love this even more now because we've decided to cruise on the Magic next! And I don't think I'll be doing the AquaDunk - it doesn't sound pleasant. : How awesome that you got the whole pool to yourselves! I hear you on the bunk bed situation - we've told them Lukas was too young the last time but next time he gets top bunk.
And I don't know why it's so awesome but it's just so different on a cruise - it feel so special!
