The happiest place on Earth for 28. (TR) - Page 16 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Now onward
After out snack it was starting to get dark so I knew we would have World of Color soon but had enough time for the Little Mermaid ride. Ariel has been a favorite of DD's since she was a little girl and this would be a first for us.
I knew I needed to find a restroom so that was the first order of business. As we got off the ride and walked to the restroom my back was hurting more than usual. After the restroom I walked out and had to sit down. I need to back up in time to explain what happened to my back. When I gave birth to my youngest DD (who's with me on this trip) she was almost 10 lbs and I was having trouble delivering so the Dr. pushed down on my tailbone to make more room. Several years later I had major back issues and learned from a chiropractor that when the Dr. has pushed on my tailbone he had tipped it sideways so later it actually turned too far to the right. The chiropractor put it back in place, however, it can randomly go out for no apparent reason. When this happens I am in such pain that I can only walk/or stand for about 5 minutes before I have to sit or lay down. if I walk longer not only does the pain increase but my legs, especially my right leg goes numb. I knew that my back had went out. DD and Karen were concerned and we tried to figure out how to get them with the rest of the group so they could go watch WOC. I found out from the teacher that they were planning on meeting so they could all stand together to watch. We were going to try to meet up with them. As we were walking up to the entry by the WOC there were a couple of CM's standing outside TLM ride and I explained my back went out so I could not stand long but wanted to see the show. They told me to talk to the CM who would show up at the line opening shortly and that there were benches I could sit on and my daughters could go with me. Thank goodness for Disney magic. That's what we did, I was given a special pass and led to a roped off area where I could sit but still see. The girls could not sit on the benches but another CM said they could sit on the ground so they went up close to the fence in front of the benches and waved and talked to their choir group as they passed by below them.
Now on with the show!
Too many of the pics I took did not turn out, I need an actual camera!
The show was sooo amazing, just unbelievable. I am so glad I got to see it.
I love that pic of the 3 of you at the top of this post. What a terrible ongoing problem...I am sure at home it is a painful and annoying situation but to be on vacation where there is so much walking & standing must he unbearable. Praise be the Disney magic for you being able to sit to watch the show.
So sorry to hear about your back problems as it does not make for an enjoyable time when you're on vacation! Not a good time for it to act up. Glad you are making the best of it. Good going on talking to the CMs about this and make it better for you. Nice photos of the LM ride and WOC show. Tough to get photos of shows that have a lot of darkness!

When you said about going to World of Color, I was hoping the Cast Members would mention the bench to you, as that's what I was offered for my chronic fatigue and it was the difference between being able to see it and not. As you say, thank goodness for Disney magic.
I am always anxious about health problems at Disney. I put so much into the anticipation of those trips, then I fear that something like illness or a migraine will take it away. So glad this came on late in your day, and that the CM was able to help accommodate you. That's 100% awesome.

I was really happy that I talked to CM's and found out another option because WOC was amazing and it would have been terrible to miss it. True about talking pics in the dark and a show that moves.

I was very pleased to be able to sit while watching.

I agree with you, so much planning and anticipation goes into a trip that to be ill or hurt really messes things up You're right, I hadn't thought about it but at least my back went out at the end of the day and not the beginning!

While waiting for WOC I had texted teacher to explain why I was not with group and what it meant for returning to hotel (walk and bit and sit a bit) so I would be late getting back.
After the show, we started back and whenever I saw a chair, bench or any place to sit I would stop for a minute which made slow going. I think it was at our second stop, that the rest of our group passed by - I told Karen and DD they could walk with them if they wanted but they wanted to stay with me. It was by necessity, a leisurely walk back. By the time we got to the hotel, the evening meeting was over. Kids were hanging around outside my room, waiting to pick up snacks and breakfast for the next day. After that, I took aleve and locked my door, rub on white flower oil (it's a muscle helper, like bengay) and lay down. Boy did that feel good. I was concerned about the next day, Friday but would do the best I could. The group only had until 12 before we met to get back to the hotel, and get them on the bus for the airport then it would be just DD and I.
After laying down for a bit, I got up did room check then finished packing because in the AM we had to bring all our suitcases and store them someplace while we were at DL.
Finally, I could

I have been having real challenges getting this post done, either photobuckets not working or my computer freezes so I'm hoping this time works.
The alarm drug me out of bed. I sat up on the side of the bed to test my back, then stood and walked around the room a bit which told me it was still out but the pain had lessened since I got to lay down for several hours.
The smart thing to do would have been staying in my room and resting but that was not on the schedule so I took aleve, did some stretching to limber up, took a hot shower before getting dressed. I did wake up, then propped my door so anyone who did not get fruit, snacks and water last night could come pick it up. While waiting for students, I packed the last bit of my stuff so that it could be hauled to another room for storing while we were at DL.
After everyone had deposited their luggage we gathered for the morning meeting.
I got a chance to speak with Karen to find out what she had decided. Yesterday she talked about going with another group to ride "the mountains". I encouraged her to do this so that she could have fun. I didn't want me slowing anyone else up. We started moving out of the hotel and DD & I found each other. I asked her what she wanted to do, go with another group? She said no, she wanted to stay with me in case I needed help. Besides, she told me her feet were killing her which didn't surprise me since she insisted upon bringing non supportive or padded shoes. I tried to get her to wear tennis shoes but she said she wanted her 'cute' shoes. And that, if she went with me she'd get to sit down more and rest her feet.
We were walking slower than our group, and several of them would stop and wait, I encouraged them to go ahead. The students I was in charge of would check in by text every hour like they had been and I rarely saw any of our group the last two days except at the concert, when we walked over in the AM and met to walk back to the hotel at night. I appreciated that they were concerned for me but they were all leaving at noon to fly home and I thought they should make every minute count. Off they all went and I was happy they did. I did not want to hold anyone up.
The first thing I wanted was FP to RCR and that's where we headed.
