As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I think the day after Thanksgiving is the only RIGHT time to start celebrating and decorating for Christmas!! One holiday at a time, please!! ('course, I'm an old stick in the mud!! )

I'm with you on getting one holiday out of the way at a time and after Thanksgiving seems like a good time to get those decs out!
Wow, I thought the pics of pixie hollow looked great. Too bad it didn't turn out as wow'ing as you thought it would be. I am surprised at how many christmas decorations they had up prior to halloween. Either I was not paying attention enough this halloween in WDW, or they did wait there. Because I don't recall seeing christmas decorations the day of the Halloween party. Especially on the lamp posts. I even had a pic of the halloween decorations on the posts.
I agree...one holiday at a time. I just think everything is rushed now a days. I went to get my son some jeans yesterday and the store we go to had all their shorts and sandals out. I can't even think of shopping for summer stuff yet.
Sadly WDW started putting up the Christmas decs on Halloween in 2006! I remember going to Animal Kingdom on 1 November and the Christmas tree was already up. We said it was a bit early and that's when the CM told us it had gone up the night before Halloween, so there it was, up and ready for 31 October...

Great pics, though, Cheryl. Glad you were able to meet the fairies even if you weren't impressed with their digs. I don't think I'd like to meet that pirate in a dark alley, though. He looked like a pretty rough character. (A true pirate, in other words )
Wednesday 29 October – part three: Eeyore, that’s not nice to Piglet!
We carried on walking and just happened to find ourselves in Critter Country.
Sharon suggested a ride on Winnie the Pooh, but first I checked if a certain grey animal was anywhere to be seen. I was told that he would be back in 30 minutes, so how to kill that time? Well, a ride on Winnie the Pooh of course. Mark asked if Sharon wanted to go and was very relieved when she said yes, as it meant he could sit it out. This sadly is not one of his favourites. I suspect it has something to do with the presence of a certainly little pink animal, but of course I could be wrong…
When we came out, Sharon and I went to see Pooh and then Tigger with Mark taking photos, but I couldn’t resist telling Tigger that Mark loved a bounce, so he had to come and bounce with Tigger!
We still had 20 minutes to kill, so I suggested that Sharon and I go on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and she didn’t need asking twice. It was so nice to have a ride buddy on this, as if you ride on your own, you do fly around in the seat during it. A couple of times, I fell into Sharon, but she was fine about it - about that.
When we came out, it was back to find my donkey, getting a couple of Photopass pics on the way.
We passed Jack Skellington on the way, but the line for him was just nuts and a choice between him and my donkey, well, sorry, there just isn’t one, so we carried on. We got in line, while Mark saw Brer Fox and Brer Bear.
We had seen so many characters this time that we had nearly filled up our autograph book, which was really neat and we made a point this time of only getting characters to sign once, even if we saw them more times than that, so that was a great result. We waited a while to see Eeyore, as you had to see Pooh first, but when we got there, we were able to skip him and boy, did we get some good attention from Eeyore! As well as huge hugs, I got a high five from him and, when Mark asked him if he would go and sit on Piglet (I’m sorry, but he really does not like him! ), apparently Eeyore gave him the thumbs up, which meant that suddenly my donkey boy went massively up in Mark’s estimation. I’m not quite sure what I think of Eeyore’s answer to that though…
From there, we walked back to New Orleans Square station and caught the railroad back to Main Street. We saw that it wasn’t far off leaving and asked if we could use the exit, as it was closer and the conductor let us, telling us that we could get away with it today, as it was so quiet. This is a lovely ride and I love the Grand Canyon and dinosaur diorama that they have here, just before you get to the station at Main Street. They are really neat and add some interest.
We said goodbye to Sharon at Main Street, as she was staying on board and off we went towards the exit, stopping to get one final Photopass picture done.
Then we wandered back to the Grand Californian.
We found this and couldn’t resist getting a photo!
I'm glad you had one last good time with the characters and Sharon! Mark looks like he could just jump right in that "Policemobile"... the question is... which seat?!
Those are some great pictures. You got a beautiful blue sky California day! One of these days, I have got to get to DL, but my DH doesn't seem to want to make the trip thinking WDW is so much better. I on the other hand, as I mentioned to you before, want to try at some point to get to all of the Disney's worldwide.
Yea! We're Vegas bound. Looking forward to more ..... but it won't be here will it? It will be somewhere else What forum are our globetrotters hopping to now?

You must remind your DH that if it wasn't for DL, WDW would never have come into being!!! Plus the weather is great, DTD is fun and DCA is a must see before too much more is torn down for the 'new' DCA! I can help with any excuses and reasons to do something...or not!!!!
