the EIGHTEEN years, TEARS, CHEERS & Hurricane FEARS TR - Page 16 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Ok...I am with you....really not polite to laugh at the situation, BUT you can't help yourself. I am sure that poor woman was mortified that she couldn't really fit in the rocket! However, at 2:20AM I am sure it was quite an amusing sight to see! Sleep deprivation makes most situations hilarious for me !

What a great evening....it definitely was a magical evening for your family. What a fiasco at SM - and I can definitely see that it was just the situation that probably had everyone laughing...but the way you described I could actually picture it going on.
Glad you all finally made it back to the BC to get some sleep....
The next morning (or should I say that same morning) everyone slept in… except me! I don’t remember exactly when it was I got out, but as usual, I can’t sit still for long, so I got myself dressed and headed over to Epcot. It was nice, but overcast. I must have missed the sunny part of the morning! This is the view I saw coming in:
I strolled through England and Canada and took a bunch of pictures.

Then I headed over to the Land, and snagged myself a Fast Pass for Soarin. I decided to wait in the standby line even though it was 70 minutes since I was by myself. Well the line did NOT move AT ALL for over 20 minutes! Some guy came back into the line with a bunch of food for his entire family and they were sitting on the ramp eating! One of my kids started trying to call me at this point so I gave up and headed out of the line. I don’t mind waiting, but this was ridiculous! I let the kids know where I was and then headed over to Living with the Land. No one wanted to do this ride with me earlier, so I took advantage of my alone time! The wait time was listed as twenty minutes and from the look of the line I figured it would be, but it moved pretty quickly. I think I only waited 10 minutes or so.
I really enjoyed this ride. About half way through it dawned on me to take my camera out, so I did get a few shots!
For Alicia! My science geek daughter!
hard to read, but it's a NINE pound lemon!
I think this was the aeroponics
Everybody's favorite!
The only problem with the ride was I could not hear the commentary. I was in the very front seat of the boat which was nice, but a very load Spanish speaking family sat right behind me and they talked constantly. Since the speaker was in the rear of the boat, and I have a hearing problem, I missed most of what was being said over the loud speaker. I did understand when they said “goat” in Spanish, but that was about it! (Most of the Spanish I know is medical jargon and they weren’t discussing chest pain or peeing in cups! )
After leaving the Land I headed back to WSC and walked towards the Mexico side. I thought about getting an FAB but passed. It was starting to sprinkle a little bit, but it wasn’t bothering me! I just took out my umbrella and kept going. Then the skies OPENED UP and the heavens FLOODED down upon the earth! YIKES!!! People were running as if a fire storm were upon them and I just kept strolling along enjoying myself. The deluge slowed from time to time and I took some more photos. (These aren't in order)
When I got to America, the rain had slowed to a drizzle and I made my first “Real” pin trade!
The best part of my time going through WSC was splashing through the puddles! Ok people must have been looking at me like I was a complete lunatic, but the rain was coming again, and people were leaving in droves. The puddles were everywhere and my feet were already wet, so why not! I had a blast splashing my way back around to the international gateway where I once again got caught in a deluge!
I braved the elements once more and headed back to the hotel where my family, safe warm and dry all looked at me as if I had been possessed!
up next some time with the boys and Dinner at Le Cellier!
More great updates! I can't believe that you stayed at MK until 3 AM Great pictures of Epcot!! I remember that rain...I was sitting by the pool at POFQ!! More please
Wow, we were just getting off SM at at about 1:50, and we rode Buzz right after. We probably crossed paths. Glad everyone was able to enjoy SM. I was so impressed with the length of it. It had been 18 years since I rode it and I had forgotten how long it lasts. DH and Kids loved it too!! LOL I laughed so hard, that is too funny. I would have loved to see the CM faces!! More Please!
I have to comment now. I can't believe a parent would let their 5 or 6 year old ride a ride like TT all by themselves. That is so sad to me and not what Disney is about. It is different when your kids are older, but good grief! What a dad! Ok, back to my reading...

I know what you mean!! I can't believe after being TOLD they would be separated he STILL got in the line!!! The guy obviously only cared about HIMSELF!!
I have to wonder why this woman just didn't get into her own vehicle. I know when it's just me and Andrew there's no way another adult is going to fit with us.
I got back to the room around 4 in the afternoon. Everyone was up and about and just lazing around. I dried off a bit, and updated my live trip report, but as usual, couldn’t sit still! The weather was still overcast, but the rains seemed to have stopped. I talked the boys into coming back to Epcot with me! Alicia and Jeff wanted to hang at the hotel for a while longer, so we planned on meeting them by Le Cellier around 7pm for dinner.
The boys wanted to go off and do their own thing for a while… they didn’t REALLY want to hang out with MOM, so I told them I’d meet up with them in a bit. Little did they know I had a ripening FP for Soarin to deal with! They headed off to do Mission Space or Test Track or something, while I headed back towards the Land. The wait time was short and when I got to the front I asked if I could ride in row one. The CM asked “How Many?” with a "look" on his face, but when I said, “Just One” he took pity on me and sent me to the next loading dock and I was in row 1! WOO HOO! I was pretty excited! The down side is it was section C and I was all the way at the end, but at least NO feet in front of me! Since I’m so short (I should, by all height requirements probably be wearing that silly middle strap thingy, but I just can't bring myself to do it!) when I’m in the 2nd or 3rd rows, the feet become VERY distracting to me!
After my glorious flight over California I headed out and called to see where the boys were. I’m not really sure what they did, but they never rode TT or MS! We met up in front of Mexico and I convinced them to let me take a picture:
Then we wondered around WSC enjoying the sites. I even got the boys to act a little silly! At first they didn’t want to play along, but I convinced them it would be fun! OF COURSE… along the way, as we passed the Mexico Frozen Margarita Stand, I said to Corey “Hey you want to buy me a drink” and he coughed up the $10 bucks! Bad mother that I am, I let my 19 year old have a few sips along the way. You can see he was holding MY drink for me while I shot a few more pics!
We worked our way to about Morocco when Alicia called that She and Jeff were heading towards Canada. So Corey Evan and I hightailed it over to meet them. We got to the Canadian Pavillion and I made them pose for yet another Picture!
Evan though we were a little bit early, I checked us in at 7:15 for our 7:40 dinner ressie. Now this is important. Keep these times in mind when you see the next sequence of pictures:
Waiting for our ADR
I got tired of watching them wait so I went and took a few more photos
and FINALLY
This was BY FAR the LONGEST wait we had!! We waited well over an hour before we were seated for dinner!!
Up next, Jeff politely complains to the manager and our meal experience in Canada...
