As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I didn't hear the part about "the finger" - I tend to tune her out when she gets on that "haters" thing. *yawn* Yeah, real classy there.
Connie, I respect your opinion, but I have to disagree with you. Bristol put herself in the spotlight - she could have said "no" to this. She also complained a lot - "I don't know about that," "I can't do that," as if all that should excuse her from trying. Mark had to give her incredibly simple choreography to compensate for her unwillingness to try. Compare her to Kelly Osbourne (in Season whatever) who really stepped up and learned some very challenging choreography. Same with Kyle. I think the judges were very kind to her. When the "adults" performed badly, they got blasted by the judges - think about the comments made to Michael Bolten and The Situation (neither of whom I liked). They were downright mean. They even raked Kyle over the coals a couple of times, and he's young, too. But when Bristol forgot the steps - like in that ridiculous monkey dance - and just stood there, clueless, they were very generous in their comments and scores. Yes, she finally managed to do a decent dance last night. But I'm pretty sure most of the others who were eliminated could have done as well, if not better, had they been given the breaks she got. I don't like her mother, either, but had Bristol worked the way Kyle did, and had shown some talent for this, I would give her the credit she deserved.
I was really hoping Kyle would win - I just love his spirit. But Jennifer is a fabulous dancer. I hadn't seen her meltdown about Patrick before - that really had to be difficult for her. As for her "whining," like I said before, if I had that many injuries, I'd probably whine a bit, too. I think she did a great job!

Pat...you took the words right out of my mouth! Yes, Bristol showed great improvement from the beginning to the end, but I too felt she had a bad attitude at times and I just don't think her skill level should have put her in the top 3. The judges are there to give their opinions, whether it be pleasant or not, and honestly I don't feel like Bristol ever got any really harsh comments. I mean, Len kept giving her higher scores than the other two judges, and never once gave Kyle a 10...not once.
Kyle never complained or got upset about anything...he was just so positive and happy throughout the whole competition, and I was really disappointed that he didn't come out on top, but hey second place isn't bad. As for Jennifer, while her health issues did sometimes overshadow her practice sessions a bit, it showed what she had to overcome, and she did look really good out on the dance floor.

I wasn't going to look at this thread, I wasn't going to look..I promised myself I wouldnt look because I haven't seen the final show yet But I had to see who won (like reading the ending of a book first)
I totally agree with what Pat said as well. I am not an American so I am an innocent bi stander but I didn't like Bistols attitude throughout the competition. It really didn't look like she was trying very hard. My hubby compared her enthusiasm to Kate. She has a very spoiled attitude-one that people had problems warming up to. I do believe she was given favourtism and I do think it was due to who her mum was (her mom could have been Oprah, she was still given breaks that others didn't based upon her mom)...even Tom annoyed me once for his attitude around her mum. BUT if she had been a good dancer, had a better attitude and got us to "like" her, then yeah, it would have been fine to see her up there. SHe was not a good dancer, others deserved to be there instead ie: Brandy etc. I do believe the judges screwed up in the way that they treated her and they were not fair to the others. Had Simon been there, he wouldn't have cared who she was and I think they need judges that base their opinion on the dance and not on the persons background.
I will have to watch the final show tonight but my opinions still don't change. I am glad to hear that Kyle and Jennifer made it up to the final 2. Now I can watch it
I think Bristol did it out of pressure, they asked her dad first (and possibly her mom first of all) and they were both like "hell no" but it was presented to the family as a good opportunity to get a huge audience, it also tied-in with their reality show, which I've seen 2 minutes of and in it noticed a lot of tension between Bristol and her mom. Whenever her mom was given a speaking opportunity on DWTS she dressed sort of redneck sexy, made racy remarks, attempted to make suggestive moves, I get a strong feeling that she competes with her daughter, and wants to win. On the reality show I saw her make a very underhanded hint about Bristol's appetite, and all of this makes me feel for Bristol and sorry that she started getting so mouthy at the end of the season. I have no idea what it's like to be in her shoes, shame on whoever kept her in so long. Ultimately Bristol said yes to the project (and the $$$$$$$$$$, it's $125,000 to walk onto Episode 1 and goes up from there) and I resent that our own culture is so basal and gave her the opportunity in the first place but I don't think I myself would have been much more energetic or inspiring.
Like many others, I wanted to see Kyle/Lacey win, but accept the outcome, finally something FAIR this season came about.
I am so glad this season is OVER! I knew Jennifer was going to win. I was so hoping Kyle would make DWTS history and win even thou he didn't get the best free style score. He had the best one IMHO. I got sick of Jennifer and the Dirty Danceing stuff, injurys and all that. I still believe that Kyle best repesented what the show is about. I didn't hear Bristol say that either. I can't believe she thought she was a great dancer but i do give props to Mark for teaching her.
Someone mentioned the same one winning, Well yea Derek has one the past 3 seasons now. I agree he needs to learn to teach and get a tuffer student.

Wow. I did not know that. For that much money, I'd be waaaay enthusiastic and energetic!! Don't know how "inspiring" I'd be. I've always thought it would be fun to try this, even though I have practically no rhythm. I just think it'd be a fun way to lose weight. Look how much Kelly Osbourne and some of the of the other "chunkier" chicks slimmed down over the course of the show.
So, hey DWTS producers, I'll volunteer for next season!!! Pick me, pick me!!! You can give me any title you like - middle-aged activist, stay-at-home-dog-mom, queen of the pooper scoopers - I'm not proud!

I don't want to know how much they get in the end. And to think they kept on Bristol to the end...they kept her pocket book happy.
I watched the finale. I liked Kyles and Jennifers but really, there was no one quite up to the calliber of Jennifer. It would have taken some lifts and throws to accomplish that and Kyle did some but not as risky as he would have had to have done to have gotten ahead. Kyle was someone "normal" that didn't have the dance back ground that did exceptionally well. Jennifer had dance training and so she did better.
I hope there is abit of a mix up next season. Maybe time for a new pro to mix it up with Derrick more. But I am afraid that the network could get someone even worse than Bristol and we might have the same type of season as this one. We know how they like dramatics to bring in the ratings. I hope Maks doesn't leave but I have a feeling that he might and Tony might not be to far behind.
I am also glas to see it end!!! At least it ended how I wanted. I hope Cheryl gets someone decent next time and they need to re-address the judging and voting. I know it is pretty much a popularity contest. At least have someone there who isn't a has-been or never was. It's dancing with the stars...I would like to see some actual stars.
Ack, I would look like Kate Gosslin and send my pro to drink LOL LOL I would put in the work but it wouldn't show...I have two left feet and I am dyslexic to boot tooo

Wow, between him and Maks, they could teach me any day If they could teach me, they could teach ANYONE....I can't hear rythm either. Oh, well...in another life.....
As for Maks returning next season, He says it depends on what is going on. He will return if he can, He is opening other Dance With Me studios around the USA and has some top secret Broadway show in the works. So if any of his other projects don't get in the way he will return if they even ask him.
I was disappointed that Jennifer and Derek won. She was in Dirty Dancing with Patrick Swayze! She even attended a performing arts school for dance and acting. She is a great dancer to start out with. Brandy was a singer that danced in her videos and on tour and had training. Why can't someone with no experience be on that show. I would've loved for Kyle or Bristol to win. I wasn't shocked that Jennifer won.
